Sorry guys, for some reason Blendswap have decided to deny my blend for download. Its my own character that I made and rigged, so I'm very upset with them. I'm trying to contact them and find out why.
No updates ?
Could you upload it to eg. googledrive, mega, dropbox?
Just toss it on GitHub. No worries. It's nice to version control project work anyhow ;)
Great potato sack!
The setup for the simulation seems so simple and straightforward when I watch these videos, and then, without watching the videos at the time, I do what seems the same in every significant detail, and I get something that looks like a a combination of cloth and Minecraft squares.
I read your comment, tried hard not to do what you did and I literally made a chest plate...
*object, -> shade smooth*
Great video. One thing...
1. select a vertex
2. hold just CTRL
3. click a second vertex.
blender will select the shortest path between the two selected points.
PIXXO... excellent tutorial. I realize this is a whole version too late, but this tutorial has made clothing creation so freakishly easy... now, the difference is, I don't apply these cloth meshes to Blender character meshes.... instead, I import them into Reallusion Character Creator 3 where I can conform the cloth mesh to the pre-rigged character meshes there, which can then be exported into Reallusion iClone 7 (animation program)... it has its own physics mechanics (which I am still learning), so this step has just made the process even easier in my work flow. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. 🖖
Thank you very much. You really helped me with the setup!
Thanks for the tutorial. Question: Is it possible to *also* rig the cloth so that parts of it can be transformed but with the cloth sim still effecting it? (Imagine, for example, a character rolling up the sleeves on his shirt, or opening his coat to reveal a pistol on his hip)
if the bake time is too slow, make sure you Scale everything in your scene up, the bigger the mesh the faster baking will be
Pls can u make a video on stiffer clothes like sweater
Thanks so much for making a creating Clothes tutorial for 2.8. Been looking for a tutuorial past few months. :D
This is perfect! A much better alternative to making clothes compared to the glitchy sewing.
Awesome instructions, I'm a beginner and I admire all your video uploads, you're awesome teacher, and I can easily follow your instructions, thanks so much for sharing and keeping us going with Blender ♥️😊🙏👍👍👍👍
Thanks Pixxo
good one, but do not want to be too picky, but I have a character with a skirt sitting down (a different pose) when my model sits down the skirt stay up and fold down to the bone.
Tell me if you find a solution. The same problem, there is a hood with a long back, and when the animation starts, the character drops to one knee, but the cursed cloth hovers over the character. Good advice is needed.
Love it !

I thought logically "Object collisions" determines the distance between the character and the cloth, and the "Self Collision" determines how close it can get to itself. You tweak the self collision here trying to minimise the gap between the cloth and character. Is my logic wrong?
Good for making VRChat clothing.
Thank you very much for this tutorial. I wonder if this cloth animation works fine in Unity.
Thanks for this, its amazing
Sorry, I don't think I understand. The clothes I modeled don't move with the character. is there another video I'm supposed to watch?
Excellent tutorial! Just what I was looking for. Thank you!
Thanks for the tutorial! For form-fitting clothes, is there a reason why you would build the clothes over the body and not just select and duplicate the mesh from the body, say shoulders to hips, slightly enlarge it, and then just add on the lower dress from the thighs down?
that's a really good question i'd still like to know the answer to
could you make a tutorial how to prevent the cloth goes through when animating, thank you
U have to enable your character mesh as a collision
Very informative, thanks a lot.
love your tutorials
Thank you so much! This was really helpful for my character animation! :D
Hi thank you for tutorial. Whether the clothes will animate correctly if you add hair to it (make a sweater for example)?
Very, very good tutorial. Love it!
Thank you very much for this tutorial, I have a question, what is the difference between BAKE and BAKE DYNAMICS? Thank you very much for your time
I followed the tutorial completely but with animation my dress falls off the character and its very bendy, laggy and glitchy anyway.
Does anyone have help for me?
@MrSquid Is the person an collision affector?
what are the specs on the computer you are using? Everything was buttery smooth, not a single stutter
Very nice tutorial,
i'm now trying to replicate this flow on pants, without any success lol
nice
If I'm selling wedding dresses can I make a "rigged" model from a real person using a smartphone? I'm a nooby and need all the help I can get! Fabulous tutorial by the way!
Simply Awesome!...
Fantastic. Thank you.
11:03 -"that's a lot better" .. if we just dont zoom it they will not be able to tell that it's still as bad as it was :D
amazing tutorialt thank you
Thanks you are life saver great content
i SR. Can we use that Clothing Rig in Unity or any Engine other?
thank you brother, really thank you
Is it possible to make pants which can react to the character? Eventhough if we make the character a collision object, the cloth will still fall down right? Is there any way to solve this problem?
a little bit of thicc (add some bum and hips) and then increase the tension under the stiffness settings
Thank you
is there a way to make the cloth follow the character possition?
parent it to the armature
how can apply the cloth using just pose (not animation) ?
Good video :) Thanks.
amazing
thanks for the video I just want to ask, cloth looks so plasticy if I increse subdivision will it disappear
Any solution to prevent the dress from moving at the very beginning? It behaves like dropping from above
When you're baking the cloth physics, extend the cache by a few frames back before the first frame. That should solve the problem.
@@justlukeunlimited1545 Many thanks.
Will it still works that nicely when exported into a different file like pmx? Or it still need some ridging?
thaaaaaaaaaaaaanks
How can i attach certain vertices to my model?
is there a way to export the clothing alone ?
yes just click the cloth, file export, export selected
NICE
Can i export this simulation into Unity Engine and if yes, Is it optimized or not?
i think u cant because unreal have diffrenet physic same particle systeam its too much complicated
if u need simulate u need to export obj to unreal and simulate with unreal tools
@kratoos0.0 Thanks so much for your comment, bro.
Hello there. When I did my own cloth simulation for my detective character, I notice that the cloak piece (which was cloth simulated) did not follow along with the rig when the rig was walking. Is there anything I could do about it? Is it possible cloth simulation fares with walking?
EDIT: Her shirt is the collision object, parented to her rig while the cloak is the cloth simulation.
I mean I guess you could parent the cloak to the base of the rig?
can i dress a model in its rest pose ???
How do you have the cube and the character separated if they are on the same layer?
why does it keep crashing when i play the animate button
ok but how about pants?
Why do my clothes always jiggle and wiggle ;-;
Change the physics of material to make them more stiff
@@soirema can we just ctrl + j body and clothes?
it doesnt work when i animate it with the bones armature
did you animate it before running the simulation or after?
Can I do that in blender 8.2a?
sure
You must be from the future ...
This blend has been denyed for upload. The reason for denial is: Is this from a character creation software?
Problem fixed
You can try the link now
Very helpful!
SPAC5R I love your profile pic , how long did it take to render ?
@@bigappleandbass9379 hey man, just the default cube and a plane, guess it was a couple of seconds... 😉
Ik I’m joking have a gud fay
Hi, i have strange question according to this tut, why is my clothes going through character like ghost? What did I incorrectly?
I'm having the same problem...
@@papayagurl9275 set the collision to body of your model
what app is that?
Blender. The version is in the title.
Doesn't work at all for me
I would not use a cloth simulation for this. AT ALL. It’s OK if you want to make a short animation, but if you want to make a full scene or short film, the cloth sim will slow down your render GREATLY. I would use other methods, unless your computer is really powerful.
that and cloth modifier is a bust for super intricate clothing, especially with layers of clothing. unless you got marv designer blender's not really the tool for super complex cloth physics. At least in my experience.
Other methods such as?
I mean I get what you're saying but what other ways are there? unless you want to manually animate the cloth, your basically stuck with cloth sims.
@@creeperbeeper2905 You could have the rig affect the cloth, or animating it could work (if it is a simpler cloth)
@@LukaV717 thanks
Can i ask, i making skirt but i fall down, can u tell me what happen?
Add a Collision to the rig
@@LL-pl2ek That, and friction.
Might need a pin group
does not work with a coat
Beautiful clear understandable English. Thank YOu
it's a broken video I cannot watch it right
now
After 3 months Search This Tutorial !!!

?
This is very functional, but it feels far behind nCloth. We need constraint points, combinable caches with paint weights, paint-based attributes, material presets, etc.
I know this is the cloth engine packed with Blender and thus not considered the best tool, but still feels very outdated, unless it actually has the features I mentioned and I just don't know about it lol.
yeah this seems pretty sketchy to me. I have a feeling once the character's not wearing a loose fitting dress/doing a very simple pose things would start to go south quick.
It does have constraint points. Havent played with weight paint yet. It might be there.
Des pite of controling the simulation, insted am being controlled my the simulation. I think its the end of the world. #JudgementDay
why don you just grabed one tshirt and put on the char man? the way you did is not usefull for me, waisting my time
Are you smoking crack?
