No it does not. I’m from San Diego but lived in Chicago for years. Definitely doesn’t have better food than Chicago. I’ve also been to every state except Alaska and Hawaii. I love San Diego food but it’s not the best in the country. Mexican Food? Yes! Absolutely without question. But overall. Naw.
The thing about San Diego is, when it comes down to food, it’s not just all tacos and California burritos and carne asada fries. There’s also birria, carnitas, aguas frescas, nieve from La Michoacana, and si much more from a Mexican/Latino side. But a BIGGER scale, San Diego has such a huge and diverse presence in culture there that there’s more than just Mexican food. Take a drive down University Ave and you can find so many different restaurants with so many cultural backgrounds it’s insane. You can get a Mexican restaurant, a Vietnamese restaurant, an African restaurant, a restaurant that sells food for Muslim people (meaning the food is all halal), and so much MORE. Yes Tijuana is our next door neighbor, but when your population is made up of a lot of POC, this is what you get and I LOVE it here. All from a kid from City Heights.
I lived in Dallas for 7 years and am from Texas, while I agree what you said is true, we also have a lot of diversity when in Dallas also. I will say that the food in Dallas is better. What I’ve found is that a lot of restaurants in SD get very high reviews but the taste doesn’t live up to them. In Dallas, even 3 star places have better food than 4 star in SD. The 4 and 5 stars are bangin in Dallas. All that said, I love it in San Diego and have more fun here. There are more things to do on the weekends
@@henry.has.been.humbled bro said Texas has a lot of diversity like Texas is the most American state and you out here calling it diverse I haven’t been there so correct me if I’m wrong
Coming from someone who lives here… I def think people over look it when they think of SoCal. They often think of LA but tbh I think SD is just a nicer, less busy version of it
Saying that Dallas has better food than San Diego is the most laughable thing I've heard in my life 😂😂😂 San Diego is a melting pot of cultures & the amount of famous chefs that open places in San Diego is insane 💯💯💯
As a San Diego born and raised person, i can definitely say that Dallas takes the BBQ. But Mexican food? San Diego has the best Mexican food spots and taco shops in the country for sure !!! And the weather here is amazing
It was 72 today in San Diego and I had the MAX AC on in the car because it was crazy hot. 65 maybe 67 is perfect but I will tell you that it’s actually upsetting when you find out that you will never again get to wear a coat :(
Alright, I was born, raised, and currently reside in the DFW (Dallas/Fort Worth) area. I visited San Diego a couple of years ago. The food was IMMACULATE. Barbecue here is good but it’s not as popular as everyone makes it out to be. I love barbecue but I usually eat Mexican/ Asian first. And both of those in San Diego were CRAZY
I lived in Dallas for 7 years and am from Texas. I have lived the last two years in San Diego and can say that Padres games are way more fun than rangers games. However, I love basketball and Dallas has a fun arena
I’ve lived in The DFW area my whole life and, yeah it’s fine! I currently live in NRH (North Richland Hills) and NRH is one of the top 15 best cities in America for families in 2023!! I love Arlington, Rangers, Cowboys, Six Flags all in the same area! Love Texas!!
I think Texas BBQ is the best you can get but it has to be in Texas. I compare it to Mexican food, you have to find those hole in the wall restaurants for the best.
I live in Dallas and I can confirm we have the worst weather ever. One day, it was also 100 degrees and super humid. Next thing I know, It's hailing ice the size of baseballs.

Yea I'd have to agree. Dallas I'm sure has got a massive night life but there's just so many people and so much traffic I don't think it'd be worth it. San Diego's night life is kinda small but great
The food in San Diego is next level… the influence from Mexico combined with all the fresh food year around (SD County has more farms than any other county in the US) Michelin star restaurants, great neighborhood fare, SD county also has the most breweries of any other county in the US if you need something to pair with your food (and wine of course)! I think everything else you got right :)
i’ve lived in san diego my whole 21 years of life and gotta say san diego ideas on food are the same no branching out (mexican food can’t beat) it’s all the same here. been to countless many different cities and states we are mid but have multiple different cultures so i’ll let you decide
Sorry guys I've eaten in both San Diego and Dallas and San Diego has way more variety in quality food and restaurants. You want BBQ, you want steaks, you want Southern food, Cajun, French, Vietnamese, Thai, Indian, Chinese, Mexican, Ethiopian(!), Moroccan, Japanese, Italian, it's all there. Dallas doesn't come close.

As a San Diegan, the weather average in 2023w is probably 60°, but it’s probably the most underrated city in the USA. the food in SD is 1000x better than the one in Dallas…
