  • Here we have a 16,000 SQ ft home that was started in 2012. but today, 8 years later, it sits unfinished and completely forgotten.
    what happened here is the person it was being built for ran out of money and construction completely stopped. and now it just sits here.

      cat wilk I have no idea who the owners of this new home are or why the construction of this home was not fully completed. That being said, my relatives live nearby and they knew the previous owners of this property who had a different house on this lot that was demolished back in the fall of 2012. The mansion that was previously on this property was actually ALSO ABANDONED from 2009-2012...That May be hard to believe but it’s actually true, and I’m shocked to see that the new house has become neglected like the previous one was...The old mansion was almost as big as this one is, although it was definitely more low key and on a lesser scale than the new one. This is NOT CONFIRMED but there is a rumour about the previous owners which explains why there house was abandoned for three years. The previous owners had allegedly fled Canada because the feds in the United States 🇺🇸 were after them for an undisclosed reason, and as a result had to leave their home in Canada behind. Apparently they fled to either the Bahamas or the Philippines, to avoid being sent to. Prison in the USA 🇺🇸 ...The previous home had CAMERAS literally EVERYWHERE that covered every square inch of that whole property...All of these homes have high tech cameras, but nowhere NEAR to the extent that these people did...I explored the old home in the summer of 2012 and the inside was actually in decent shape, but felt way more creepy than this house does. The grounds were fucked , they had gigantic weeds growing through the driveway, and the grass looked like it hadn’t been cut in YEARS...It was super weird initially, but over the past eight years I’ve seen this sort of thing happen to many more homes in this neighbourhood, and it’s a colossal fucking tragic waste...You can see the previous mansion on GOOGLE street views...The place looked fine in 2009, but once you move over to 2011 you can see the house and grounds both started to look overgrown as well as run down...

      @Christine Herrington How?
      Practically how?
      This is a question that I've pondered. OK so you've got a 2 or 3 million, and instead of putting a deposit down on a mansion like this you decide to help the homeless instead.
      Now assuming that you're the type of person who would build a house like this you're probably working 65 to 80 hours a week building at least one company.
      So walking the streets searching for homeless people to help is out of the question.
      So how do you make any impact at all with such a small contribution and no time?

    • @RealShawnPate
      @RealShawnPate 4 года назад

      @Christine Herrington Not really. It's only a 7 bed, so you'd get 3, max 4, flats out of it, with extensive redevelopment of the common areas. It would probably cost over $600k just for the Reno assuming you could get permission.
      Then someone would still have to pay for services and maintenance of the communal areas and grounds.

    Those are theaters in the basement- at least 2. Also next to the kitchen was the "butler's pantry" where the caterers set up and serve from. The "office in the basement was "refreshments area" for the theaters. And there was at least one huge dining room. There would be a gym room, maybe a playroom, maybe a music room. I used to do child care for wealthy families. Some of that mechanical could have been for an elevator shaft to each floor

  • @harleygould7255
    @harleygould7255 4 года назад +7

    Just a couple of notes....the kitchen was correctly identified, and the room after would be the butler's pantry. most of the dishware, and food storage would be back there. The room across the hall, with the bay window, would be the formal dining room (this is why the butler's pantry is where it is, it's a good place to do the final touches to the dinner, right before it goes out to the guests). Laundry would be in the basement, of course. One of the rooms you thought might be yet another bathroom was likely the laundry (convenient to the pool as well, to dry towels). those two front rooms by the front door seemed to have some kind of tech in them. likely part of the security system. Also, the counters that looked like a kitchen in the basement would've been a wet bar. no doubt, there would be glassware, and a cooler, etc installed.

    I think I like this house more than the most of others - the one exception perhaps being the one with the pool that could be covered over and used as a ballroom. That's what I thought that some of those massive rooms in the basement are meant to be used as: if not a ballroom, at least a space where large parties could be held. One of the few things that I'd add to a house like that is a movie room/theatre. I remeber that one of the retired French Canadian hockey players (can't remember who - perhaps Guy Lafleur?) had a huge house, and had a bowling ally on one end of the home. So there's that. ThatYour enthusiasm is always the best part of the video Ethan. Thank you for being you. I should add: At the time of this video you were happy that you had over 10,000 subscribers. Thanks Ethan and all the other explores who show us these beautiful homes. We would never be able to see them if not for you guys. Very much appreciated. It's just sad so many of them get sold and torn down. What a waste. Thanks for saving there memory on video. Keep the mansions coming.

    Good job Ethan 👍. Beautiful house. And like so many other comments: Who starts building a house like that and runs out of money? 😂😂

      Probably people who lives beyond their means ...or I heard of a wealthy man that built a house like that for his wife , then she died and the gorgeous house was left unfinished .

    I've been enjoying your videos. Can't fathom having the money to build those. A lifestyle that's a level we're not used to. But boy is it fun to see what they look like. Kind of sad they went over their budget. Hope someone buys it and completes it. All my siblings and families could live in there!

    You are the man Ethan!! Glad too see you aren’t letting negative people ruin your day! Here’s my take on a few things. First, so many people keep commenting that you are trespassing. Well let’s say that this is true, why should they even care, let alone make negative comments? You didn’t get to 10k subscribers by accident, you earned them by being an explorer for all these years! No one is forcing any of these people too subscribe to your channel, let alone watch your videos. Apparently they like what they see, otherwise they’d just unsubscribe and go about their business. Second, a YT’er must interact with his viewers, or why even have a channel to begin with? So to the people who say you talk too much, they know how to unsubscribe. Third, people obviously don’t read any of the comments, or they’d figure out you have been saying that this place is in Canada for the millionth time, as you won’t reveal the actual street address, which is totally understandable! Also, most every exploration channel I’m either subscribed to and/or watched, the majority of them sneak into places to film either abandoned or empty places, whether it be a home or business. So many of the top YT urban explorers all sneak into places, otherwise you’d never have videos to watch of abandoned places. YT’ers like Dan Bell, Aces Adventures, The Proper People, etc..., all sneak into most places to film, so good for you on not letting that negativity bother you! If they get caught, 9 times out of 10, they are just asked to leave, as I’ve never heard of an urban explorer being arrested for filming an abandoned place!! Keep up the awesome job my brother!!
