@@normaowens7340 I don’t think he ended up actually buying that house (it apparently needed a LOT more work than he initially thought, plus it actually would have cost less to build a new house on that property than to fix it).
Ethan, I hope you're successful in getting the house! Dozens of observations and suggestions occurred to me while I was watching this video, and I wanted to mention a few of the most important. Even if you don't attach this as a condition to the sale, it would be prudent to get a inspection done by a competent home inspector. When you're crunching the numbers, don't forget to include yearly municipal taxes and maintenance and utility costs. If you're successful, you might want to consider hiring a professional cleaning firm to go through the house from top-to-bottom. As you noted in the video, some repairs will be required, and don't hesitate to call a contractor if you need one. They can do many jobs quicker and better than homeowners. A few observations..... the heating plant looked relatively new and in good condition, as did the electrical panels. I didn't see an alarm panel so it must have been removed, but you might consider getting another one, along with cameras. Many alarms these days are wireless, so you may need something like a DSC Neo for a house that large. Hopefully the intercom works well as that's a BIG house! A house of that size will probably need one or more Wi-Fi extenders. The room where the water softener was located appears to need some "touch up". Once again, good luck!
Merry Christmas. You are a gem for reminding our young Ethan of things that need to be addressed. We know he has parents but it takes a village to help our village and the rest of the world. Kudos to you.
Congrats on the interest of this Mansion Ethan! I wish you the best of luck on the purchase and hopefully we can see updates on it and making it come alive again, even to it's former Glory. Who knows, it would be interesting if you create a playlist of it from the very beginning when you first visited it until recent. And hopefully we can see videos of you owning the house while looking at all those mirrors and shelf mirrors and saying, "What is up you guys?" Permanently!
@@davidhale4647 Yes, a lot of young people invest in real estate & then rent out a couple of rooms to help pay the mortgage & utilities. My nephew did that until he got married. I, too, am happy for him.

Although they aren't likely to fix any problems to arise, do not forgo an inspection. You may be getting a lot more mold than you can see with your eye and it may be harmful to your health. I lived in a home with mold in the basement for a few years and I was sick all the time. Hope you the best of luck!
I am excited for you that you are buying one of these abandoned houses. The house suits you, and you're going to do great things with it. I hope they accepted your offer! Do a renovation series if you do get it. I know you're an explorer, but we would like to see you bring this beauty back to life.
Congratulations Ethan!!! I'm so happy for you, buying your first home is so exciting!!! I'm glad that you are able to realize your dream at such a young age!!! This looks like a great house with lots of potential!!! Merry Christmas!!! 🎄⛄🤶

Wow Ethan I've been watching you for yrs and I've always said to myself I bet one day Ethan trys to buy an abandoned house he's explored.. God Bless and I pray you do get it.. This is amazing..
Woah, “some things need to be replaced?” Are you kidding me? That Maytag washer and dryer is still present for a reason - because they WORK and LAST!!! I use nearly that exact same Maytag washer by choice, I hate my modern front loader that came with my house - I install a second laundry space in every home I live in so I can use my bulletproof vintage machines. That Maytag will get your clothes cleaner, faster, and more efficiently, than a new POS designed to break within two years. Maytags built in Newton Iowa were designed to last multiple lifetimes - and they do. Please do not get rid of those excellent machines for modern junk just for the sake of it being new. Especially if you’re going to keep the original stove… you need to keep the correct and period Maytag laundry units. Sorry for the slight rant but that comment totally took me off guard!
I agree. I do not like the new digital appliances even though a digital dryer came with the house my husband and I bought and moved into a year ago, in Nova Scotia. But we're in our 40s.
Ethan, we didn't get an update on whether or not you're getting this gorgeous home, I really hope you're going to buy it! You can do an entire series on your reno or better yet, bringing your house right back to 1980!! I know we would ALL tune in every wk. to watch!
Ethan I sure hope you have that home inspected. Those mats in the basement may have been done to keep feet out of water. Walls kind of look like water penetration. I lived in a home with a basement and they can be very expensive to water proof. Some times work has to be done outside the home around the foundation. Otherwise nice home! Good luck but be careful!!
This house has alot of character for 1980's homes. A word of warning so you don't get frustrated when repairing this gem... some problems may not be as easy as cut out the bad replace with the good. Some problems are like spider webs. One thing leads to another ect... I hope with all my heart that you get this house. It will be a Great first house for you. Good Luck, Ethan. Hope you have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Congrats Ethan! I’m so excited and happy for you. Such a great choice. Good luck! 💚💚💚 And just a word of advice… I bought my first house at 22 as well. Just take your time with it. Cuz it can get overwhelming. Very quickly. But you’ve got this😁
I really hope you can buy this really cool house, Ethan. But as for the washer and dryer, you do not want to get one of those brand-new sets, because the brand-new sets cost way more to fix. And the parts cost a whole lot more. Because the repair guys have a tough time finding the parts. And with the old-school washers and drys, they have the pieces in the office and the parts are way cheap. And you could even go on online and find the part or parts for really cheap and then find the YouTub video on how to fix it yourself.
Agreed. Newer doesn't necessarily mean better, and they sure don't build them like they used to, but that also goes for any of the older appliances (fridges and stoves) so don't replace them if their still in working order. You'll need that money to go for the major repairs right now.
I hope you get the house. Will you show updates as you fix it up? Hope so that would be awesome. You deserve your own place. I will get my fingers crossed that everything turns out good for you.
Congratulations, Ethan! You deserve this beautiful house. You bring us so many houses that will be demolished - but not this one! So glad you found your dream house - soon to be dream home!!
Wow! Congratulations Ethan. And this would be only your first house. Can’t imagine where you will be in 20 years! Wish you all the best of luck. Just watch out for the amount of water damage. There seems to be a bit on each floor. That huge sunroom is amazing and would be even more so with a huge fireplace. I know it’s a wee bit cold out to think about but I can’t remember the yard and if there’s a pool. Thanks for sharing and good luck!!
Congratulations Ethan, buying a house at 22 is a very big achievement. Watching your videos I see the respect you show to all the houses that you visit and that is admirable. Keep up the good work 👍

If you actually get the house would you consider making a series here or at a second channel documenting the cleaning/renovation process? I know the final results might be too intimate for you to share but if you could show us at least part of it would be so interesting.... you could even possibly get dome partnerships with brands/company to diminish your expenses maybe...
This is amazing. You’ve always talked about how many of these houses could be saved rather than knocked down. I’m excited to see your journey with your new house ❤
This is absolutely incredible, best news ever! I am so thrilled for you, if anyone deserves this house it is you. I love this house too, it is dreamy. Congratulations!!! Please stay safe and happy holidays!
Congrats man I hope they will let you purchase the house, I discovered your channel a week ago and I've been binge watching all of your videos!!!! One thing I will say is get a quality home inspector to assess all the damage, and make sure the mold is properly delt with. This is a large house so it will take alot of work and money to get it 100% Best of luck man!
So proud of all your hard work Ethan! If you get the house (?) AWESOME! Just be true to yourself & stay within budget (I do NOT want to see it revisited as Overspent on Money Pit Abandoned '80's House)! 😂 My folks bought a cool 1920's house for a steal (because it was vacant & trashed), so I spent my childhood living with major restoration projects. My dad would tell you to: + Get a good inspection. + Set a realistic budget. + Prioritize repairs & projects by most useful (ie; a new roof is way more critical than upgrading working washer & dryer, etc). + Find insured & reputable contractors. + Expect the unexpected. + Everything doesn't have to be done at once; trust the process & enjoy curating your home. +There will always be bumps in the road - don't let that stop you from enjoying the ride!! 🙂
That would be so FREAKIN COOL if the Developer accepts your offer!!!! I'm hoping with fingers crossed, and sending out wishes, hopeful thoughts on brain waves to that developer to let you buy this. I will be so happy for you. Because your love for these older homes. You have an old, kind soul my friend. And I wish nothing but Great and happy things come to you. GOOD LUCK!!!
What a beautiful 80s Mansion. How wonderful that you are buying this Enormous home at 22 years old,Congratulations 🎉🎉 I would have loved to buy a home like this, and restore it to its original glory. I loved seeing inside. ❤️Hopefully you will let us see your progress and projects as you do them. Greetings from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
Did I see two furnaces in the utility room? Your house manager can use the basement bedroom as their office. The upper passage above the front doors and access to balcony is ideal for a baby, baby grand piano. Great find Ethan, and I wish you luck! You even have a breakfast room with a fireplace & a pass-through to the kitchen. Great find Ethan, and I wish you every success with this project, maybe you can make a deal with the house with a Roller & pick-up truck inside its garage! LOL
Ethan, I'm so proud of you you've moved on up sharing what you like to do in life all the videos has been fantastic I feel like this being a young man that's everyones dream to have a big house and it was built in the 80's Congratulations to all you do.
I am soooo happy for you Ethan! Not to mention PROUD of you ❤️ I am a newer subscriber and not only do I enjoy your content, I admire your passion. Now you are considering making an investment at the age of 22?! She sure is a really nice home, good bones. I am so excited for you! I am definitely staying tuned to watch you further prosper Ethan 😃
Ethan you're really doing it! Congratulations, this is a beautiful home you are saving. The challenges will be many but the rewards will make it worthwhile. You will have to learn to love the basement like a proper Canadian and spend the Winter drinking at your awesome bar, playing pool and watching hockey!
If you do buy this house please show us the finished product once you restore it! I'm thrilled that you want to do something to prolong the life of one of these beautiful homes!!!!
Congratulations ahead of time! It's always a great achievement to purchase a home, esp. at your age. I do suggest before you sign the papers to get an inspection done, esp. since this house has sat empty for several years. I say that because of the cracks on the ceilings and the buckled floor. They might mean something and they might not. Just wise to make sure you're not overpaying for the place and also not get in over your head with repairs. Again congratulations and hoping you the best with this house or any house you buy!! I love all of your videos and appreciate how you always respect each property you video! Keep them coming.
Good luck in getting this house , hope u get it . Then as u update the house you can show us the process refixing it , bit by bit . Pretty nice looking home , structure doesn't look to bad. .
I love this home as well. The layout is gorgeous. I sure hope that things work out for you with this home. You so deserve this beautiful home. I know that you will bring this home back to life again. This would be a wonderful Christmas present to your self. Can’t wait to hear from you about this home. 💙🎄🎅🏼⛄️💙🎄🎅🏼⛄️💙🎄🎅🏼⛄️
I would worry most about the mold. Mold is very dangerous and expensive to clean and is a true health hazard. Mold must only be cleaned by professionals. Trying to clean it yourself is dangerous and can cause it to spread when you disturb the mold spores. There is both black and white mold in this house. The water damage is extensive and it may be difficult to insure this house with these kinds of damage in its history. I know first hand about both of these issues. Congratulations and good luck! I hope everything works out for you!
Sooooo did u get the house or not? Watched all the way thru and didn't hear the result. If u did get it, would love to see videos of u renovating and the final results. Fingers crossed for u.
Hopefully WHEN you get the house (not if, let's speak it into existence) 👏 We get a renovated house tour. I'm tryna buy my first house as well(unfortunately later than i wanted in life) and I love seeing decor ideas. 😍
Congratulations Ethan! That's so cool, I love seeing your videos of all those abandoned houses. I wish you all the luck with this wonderful dream house and have fun renovating it. It would be great to see you fix it up to your liking. Many greetings and best wishes from Germany.
Oh WOW, Ethan!! I'm SO happy for you, I so hope you get it, I can't wait to hear!! If you get it where will you put your cars?😃Love, hugs & God Bless you 💕💕
Congratulations to you Ethan ! I am really proud of you brother. Very nice home that shouldn't take much to bring it back. Just some cleaning, paint, and some minor repairs. Good for you and good luck with your new home. Chris in Las Vegas NV
Congrats man! Looking forward to seeing where those glass blocks are going, that fireplace with the mirror will be so awesome cleaned & shiny, the house deserves lots of love & you're the man for that job 😊 Good luck & Merry Christmas Ethan!
Omg! But this is really gonna take a hell lot of money to renovate and put this shit in order. Congrats you deserve more! I recently purchased my first house last two months paid in cash. Watching this video makes me feel very proud of who I am and of what I’ve accomplished. I’m glad I made a wise financial choice that changed me. Sending you good and positive vibes .❤️
Congrats ! You kind of kindled this little fire in me😂, I’m motivated and I’m also saving up to buy a house so this means a lot to me right now. Would you mind sharing some advice on how to increase my income?
@@lucymountfort783 lol.. okay 😊. Here are some tips that helped me: 1. Plan towards it. 2. Be frugal and minimal on spending( don’t buy what you don’t need). 3. Save money towards retirement( Roth IRA/401k). 4. Build an emergency fund. 5. Save to invest. This is the most important because it’s a proven way to get richer. Very important to financial success.
Oh Ethan,I'm so proud for you.Pkease check your roof for leaks first, then. See if water lines have leaks in the ceilings I love the house, the entrance is beautiful, what a lovely stair case.Totally Awesome I f the old washer and dryer still work I'd use them, mine are like those and I love them. Those chandelier s are so pretty.👍❤️🇺🇸
Hi Ethan, I hope you have or will be successful in your offer to purchase the property. I agree with the prudent suggestions of other commentators, concerning an inspector & work to be done. But, should you succeed, you might also consider placing mini (You are Here) maps around the place. If not for yourself to start with, then for visitors to find their way.
Thank you for preserving one. There is something about those ’80’s homes, guess that’s my period. On top of everything, congratulations. If you would not mind, you could do an separate channel, showing your home being restored to its former 1980’s big, brash, in your face, with brown, brown. Mixed in and it belongs. I have been into those château channels in France. Those are beautiful yet some are sad as you have shown.
That's awesome that you're trying to buy and restore this place, but the crack in the basement ceiling will cost a pretty penny to repair. Hope you're investing your money in some kind of stock to keep this place going once you get it fixed up and since it's so large. I wish you all the best. Keep rockin!💯
I am so excited for you Ethan. This is a grand beautiful house and you would fit in it perfectly.I hope everything works out so you can buy it.When will you know that you can buy it? I hope soon.Sure it has some problems but like you said nothing major.First you need to put a battery in that smoke alarm LOL! I have watched you a long time.Did not always comment but ,This is so great news that I am doing it now. Please take care and stay safe.Glad you have someone with you today to watch your back.
Wow Ethan, congratulations to you. Could not have happened to a better person. I know you will take care of your investment. What a wonderful gift you gave yourself, well deserved. Good luck.
I always knew one day ,one of these home would just speak to your heart . Congratulations on your new adventure . You can not beat real wood . To restore wood , look up Scots liquid gold. It cleans and hydrates the wood . Old English scratch cover will cover scratches on furniture and floors . I hope you are going to save as much of the wood floors as you can . We went in an attic room and took out flooring to match the flooring downstairs in a living room . I wish you nothing but success . It is not a race . If it takes you years to fix this home then do it . You shall never be bored as a home owner . Good vibes .
I am just as excited as you are! Some Inspection FACTS: A homes foundation is everything to the buildings structural integrity and is the most important and the most expensive to repair. Secondly the roof, minor leaks are easy to address first thing usually requiring some tubes of elastomeric premium sealant around sky lights, chimneys, vent stacks, and flashings... The house looks great, just some really good thorough cleaning...love the counter tops in the kitchen.. Also if you decide to completely renovate any part of your home, Start small as to not get in over your head or get overwhelmed. oh and the "ornate brackets" holding up the fireplace mantel shelf are called "Corbels" the ones you have are "Classic Acanthus Leaf Corbels". incase you wanted to know.
I honestly never thought you’d ever consider actually buying any of these abandoned houses you’ve covered… but, here we are! Good luck Ethan!!!

This is so cool. I hope it all goes the way you want it to, we are cheering for you Ethan!
This is a large house so it will take alot of work and money to get it 100%
Best of luck man!
So proud of all your hard work Ethan!
If you get the house (?) AWESOME!
Just be true to yourself & stay within budget (I do NOT want to see it revisited as Overspent on Money Pit Abandoned '80's House)! 😂
My folks bought a cool 1920's house for a steal (because it was vacant & trashed), so I spent my childhood living with major restoration projects.
Congrats!! Happy Homeownership. It's worth all the blood sweat and tears. Enjoy!
You have done so good with your videos and work hard to bring us enjoyment. I hope you get this home!
I always enjoy your videos on these magnificent homes, Ethan. You're so calm and relaxed. I love that bro.
What a beautiful 80s Mansion. How wonderful that you are buying this Enormous home at 22 years old,Congratulations 🎉🎉
I would have loved to buy a home like this, and restore it to its original glory. I loved seeing inside. ❤️Hopefully you will let us see your progress and projects as you do them. Greetings from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺

Good for you. Am so excited and happy that you are able to have a chance at owning your dream home. Prayers that it goes thru
LOL
Ethan, I'm so proud of you you've moved on up sharing what you like to do
in life all the videos has been fantastic
I feel like this being a young man
that's everyones dream to have a

Ethan you're really doing it! Congratulations, this is a beautiful home you are saving. The challenges will be many but the rewards will make it worthwhile.
You will have to learn to love the basement like a proper Canadian and spend the
Winter drinking at your awesome bar, playing pool and watching hockey!
If you do buy this house please show us the finished product once you restore it! I'm thrilled that you want to do something to prolong the life of one of these beautiful homes!!!!
I’m so happy and excited for you! Congratulations!!!
Pretty nice looking home , structure doesn't look to bad. .
Awesome HOME ! I hope you were able to buy it… Will you share it with us after all the repairs are done and your all moved in? 😊
Investigate turning it into a TRUST to not pay taxes
Good luck Ethan buying an abandoned house. I never expected you to buy a abandoned home. You usually explore abandoned homes. Good job!! 🙂
So happy for you, congratulations, wonderful news 😊
I would worry most about the mold. Mold is very dangerous and expensive to clean and is a true health hazard. Mold must only be cleaned by professionals. Trying to clean it yourself is dangerous and can cause it to spread when you disturb the mold spores. There is both black and white mold in this house. The water damage is extensive and it may be difficult to insure this house with these kinds of damage in its history. I know first hand about both of these issues. Congratulations and good luck! I hope everything works out for you!
Congrats Ethan in advance, I'm sending miracles and blessings to you on your journey
Congrats. Great news and will great to see an update

Congratulations Ethan, I know you are so excited!! Can hardly wait to see your house after you get it all refurbished.
Congratulations! You definitely need a load of money to own a house now, you did it congratulations once again!
Congrats ! You kind of kindled this little fire in me😂, I’m motivated and I’m also saving up to buy a house so this means a lot to me right now. Would you mind sharing some advice on how to increase my income?
@@whitebeca194 thank you .❤️
@@lucymountfort783 lol.. okay 😊.
Here are some tips that helped me:
@@rankywhite1940 I learnt a lot from this. Kudos for disseminating this enlightening data.
That is exciting! Congrats! You especially are going to appreciate all the details it has to offer.
good for you Buddy..Thanks for everything, you deserve it🙂
Thank you for preserving one.
Ethan, congratulations!!.... I can't wait to see UPDATES on your renovation!! Happy Holidays 😊!!
Wow congratulations I’m very happy for you I follow you for a couple years already and they really love everything you do they houses beautiful.
Well congratulations, I love love love this house, now just have to make it a home! Wish ya the best luck please keep us updated on progress
Congratulations and goodluck ! We happy for you
I am just as excited as you are!
