When Will Djokovic Play Next??
On senior tournament against Sampras.
Olympics
Australian Open 2025
He will play Wimbledon but for him the Olympics is more of a priority
AO 2024
A tear on the meniscus takes a long time to heal for us normal folk. He can afford the best interventions, but even then... Wish him all the best, game's poorer without him. (From a Fed fan.)
Also can have pretty bad long-term effects. Especially Arthritis. Hopefully he can avoid that.
I am a normal folk. It took me 1.5 years to recover.
Are all the people who said he’s faking happy now? This is really sad news, especially for the long-term, but I’m so proud of what he was able to achieve at 37 and a knee injury!
Fakeovic realized that it is not possible to fake injury one more time without actually being injured. Pathetic clown!
Where are the queens who promised us that Novak was faking and for sure would play the qtrs?
@@sciagurrato1831 I am here... He pulled out ONLY because he knew he couldn't win. If he is back in a cpl of weeks at Wimbledon, then all smoke & mirrors as usual. IF & I mean ONLY IF the injury is real, then he will be out for months & miss Olympics & Wimbledon...
Fedals would only be happy if Novak never played again , but still he is goat .
Not easy for them I admit 😅

Speedy recovery for Nole!🤞
Figured this would happen, but I feel bad for Nole. Hope for a speedy recovery.
6 months is average recovery time. This is federer-like issue
@@easywarcraft3 Nah Federer fought until the end. Novak was making excuses even before the tournament started in order to make himself look like the underdog.
@@CoolAce1-dv1pn yea keep making stories up
@@russelstephan6342 Novak wanted to take the pressure off himself before FO began. I get it. Nothing wrong with that but if he played against Musetti a full 5 sets, he should be ready to go against Ruud. I could be wrong but I feel he doesn't believe he could beat Ruud after so many hours on the court.
When Djokovic said he would grab all 4 of GS, i expressed unsure cuz of his shape at such advanced age
I want to cry 😢

This is really bad news. Sorry that Novak is injured. Hope the MRI shows a minor injury and pray for a speedy recovery. All the BEST!
So sorry to hear this. Hope he has a speedy recovery.
oh man, very very sad to hear about it. Wishing him a speedy recovery and hope he comes back to full strength asap. 🙏
Novak wishing you a speedy recovery.but take an easy and rest up and heel .bless you Novak.👍👍♥️♥️🙏🙏
Much respect Djokovic. You still have Wimbledon, U S. Open and the Olympics. You played the best back to back games this past week and now it's time to heal and comeback strong❤❤❤
I wish you a speedy recovery and good health. Get well soon Novak.
Shame on RG organizers. Pathetic.
Cerundolo is probably saying, "Hombre, why didn't you retire when I had you DOWN TWO SETS TO ONE??!!
For real, cerundolo could have used that win
If you can’t beat a guy with a torn meniscus you don’t deserve to advance.
Frenchies are failing all over the place. I saw the Jabuer Gauff match was more than half empty.
Djoker said the court had clay removed which made it drier and more slippery.
It's interesting to see that the one with a "fake" injury withdrew from FO, while the one with real "bad" hip injury cruising into the semi, waiting for the one who has a real "bad" forearm injury
Lol! That is quite "interesting" huh?! 😂
Remind me WHO won Australian Open 2023 with an alleged injury?
@@DaveOwen-vn6ie Remind me WHO won 14 RGs with "real" injuries every single time?
He's an old fellow, if he wants to battle through an injury he could find himself having to retire for good. Not so the young guys.

I tore my meniscus 40 years ago when I was 33. I received arthroscopic surgery, and it took a whole year before the knee was normal. Haven't knee problems kept Marin Cilic and Riley Opelka from competing for more than a year?
Dios quiera no sea así lo de Novak, y se pueda recuperar rápido, de lo contrario estaría terminada su carrera. Ojalá que no.
So sad❤❤❤wishing him only the best
LET CERUNDOLO PLAY THE QUARTERS! THIS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED. HE SHOULD HAVE WITHDREW DURING THE MATCH
But then again, RUUD INTO THE SEMIS AND PAST DJKOVIC. LETS GOOOO
It's heartbreaking
Oh no, Nole. I was saying in the chat, when everyone was saying he was acting, that a meniscus tear can be like that, the pain comes and goes as the torn piece moves in the knee. I've had a torn ACL and meniscus so I'm speaking from experience here. I hope he can heal up and compete in the Olympics like he really wanted to. 🙏
How long did it take you to recover from it ?
@@vsks recovery periods are very individual. if there are larger pieces of loose meniscus tissue, they need to be removed or stripped away via arthroscopic surgery. minor injuries may heal themselves, but take time as well.
Imagine faking injuries while you leading 😅😅😅 poor fedals not easy for them .
@@ja-kl8rg Novak is done. Deal with it fanboy.
You can thank the trash tournament Director for having him play an almost five hour match until after three in the morning, for this!
Mostly, the even trashier clay court management. Totally preventable injury, has nole pointed out in his post match conference.
The rain delays have been tough.
This and clay court management after lots of rain. He should file a lawsuit.
@@GatsuKS he would never do that. I don’t think any pro have ever sued a tournament that I have heard of.
@@easywarcraft3yes crazy, Djokovic is already the 14th player who slips and falls and has to pull out of RG this year...
What sad news!😥. We all wish him a good recovery, and I hope he will be fit for Wimbledon! And congratulations to Sinner for reaching the world number 1 spot. 🙏🏻🇮🇹
Bye bye to Wimbledon as well. A meniscus doesn’t heal in a month.
It does if he is faking it....
@@Mart7155 The ONLY way he can play Olympics & Wimbledon is if the injury is fake. You have a torn ligament/muscle in your knee... it is MONTHS to recover
@@jmilne5751The meniscus is not a ligament or a muscle, but cartilage. It cannot grow and heal if it breaks. Depending on the depth of the crack, and the method of treatment, recovery lasts between 3-4 weeks and 3 months. If it's a smaller tear, and no arthroscopy is needed, he'll be fit for the Olympics, but he won't be ready for Wimbledon at all.
@@lucijasimlesa1617 Don't worry I'm sure everyone will see him running around at Wimbledon...If it "cracked" in the 2nd set & he played for 3 more hours, then based on YOUR info it has to be the tiniest of cracks, if indeed it cracked at all....simply because he would of been severely hobbled in that 2nd set & would of quit...
Federer and Nadal fans were awful online insinuating that hes acting, he deserves an Oscar and all. It seems its only Nadal and Federer that are allowed to be Injured. What a shame
It makes up for the fact that Novaxx idi°ts always make fun of Nadal.
Karma is a b****
That is just wrong, but let's be honest. many Novak fans have done EXACTLY the same thing and especially mocked nadal's foot injury. i wish Novak back to full strength and a speedy recovery. it was extremely unfortunate, but also hatred only breeds more hatred.
Novak fans, not Novak himself, are always awful bout Rafaels endless injuries. Novak having a small taste of what Rafael has had to endure. Tennis is the loser when either is injured.
Don't forget fans of science too.
lol a bit of karma then for noletards who are always mocking Nadal
Very sad and disappointing that Novak is injured...Hope it's not very serious and he will be back on court soon!
Some luck for Ruud, and he will certainly take advantage of having 3 days off while his opponent will probably play tough match. No matter who it is, Zverev or De Minaur ( i roof for Zverev, lol), Ruud will be a heavy favorite
Thanks, Camfor the update

Very sad news for Nole. I hope he recovers so he doesn’t have to end his career with a bad knee like Fed. That would be such a shame!
One word: sad
Not shocked. Been saying this since the 3 a.m. match. You put a 37 yr old in that situation, bad things will likely happen.
So if it were 2x 25 years then it's OK to have them play until 3am?

There should be a curfew like there is at Wimbledon
@@DaveOwen-vn6ie it does matter. but i agree with you on the curfew.
Since Twitter comments aren’t working, everyone should come over here❤🎉
So basically, it is a miracle that Nole even finished the last match with that injury!
It's stupidity on his part as well. Not retiring knowing that he will most likely lose the next match and exaggerate his injury if he played on.
Serve him right
@@ohgin12345 In his defense, nobody knew the extent of the injury and it appeared that the pain killers/anti-inflammatories he was given during the match worked. It was only after he had an MRI that the injury was determined to be serious, maybe even requiring surgery.
It's not miracle. He just misjudged the injury which might cost him his last remaining competitive career.

With Djokovic playing back to back five game sets he had to have some indication there was some type of problem/injury going on? Now he’s out of RG & possibly the rest of the year & this includes the Olympics! And Djokovic also loses #1 position to Sinner! But eventually Djokovic knows he’s getting up there in age & won’t be playing many more years due to injuries too it happens in this sport! Wishing Djokovic all the best in his recovery🙏
If it is a meniscus tear as reported, this is the beginning of the end for Novak. No coming back from that!
Ojalá que no sea grave, da tanto dolor, que justo cuando a Novak se lo volvía a ver con ganas de ganar con mejor juego pasa esto, no puede ser.
Love you cam
Hmmmm
I remembered yesterday some people were saying that he "faked" his injury but it turns out to be "real" 😅
Well done to the organisation of RG.
You put Novak to play at 22:30 PM and that match was finished at 3:06 AM!
Then at yesterday's match He told the judge, before injury, when He slides for the first time that the surface is very slippery and that they should do something about it.
Again, they didn't do anything and then Novak injured His knee because of the slippery surface.
Novak should stop playing yesterday, right there when He got injured and then maybe the crowd will be angry at RG.
If the surface is slippery, it is the SAME for everyone & especially his opponent. Sliding on clay is THE norm...pitiful excuse... He played 3 & a 1/2 sets with this "injury", so if the knee was that bad, why did he keep playing...Answer no real issue. He has pulled out because he knew he wouldn't win....
@@jmilne5751- Pathetic reasoning. He kept playing because I am sure he wasn’t feeling the pain as the meds he was given during a medical time out kicked in, plus I am sure just plain old adrenaline kicked in too. After the match, he had it assessed and here we are. Name me 1 player at the highest level on the ATP/WTA Tour who was never injured? Sooner or later they all get injured. Nature of the job.
@@missourimanful After all the years of PED's, his body is finally giving up the ghost... If he comes out prancing in 3 weeks time at Wimbledon...Well guess what...He faked the injury...yet again...He pulled out because he couldn't face the reality of being beaten in the next round....
Expected life goes on enjoy 🎉🎉
You were right Cam
The FO organizers F'ed up badly. What a shame.
he should have ended Musetti match earlier..
If it's true that FO organizers squeezed an extra match before Djokovic, Cerundolo, which pushed the latter to late night, they distorted the possible outcome of the whole tournament. Shame on them!
You mean, they wrote the script wrong?
Daaaaaang, i was wrong!!!! he did withdraw!
Was surprised at first but now it’s understandable
At 37 years old, maybe the body is beginning to break down?. It will take him longer to recover. I'm not Novak's biggest fan, but I hope he recovers and doesn't rush in and plays when he's not ready.
Just like Federer in 2021 after a late match against Koepfer

A doctor I was speaking to said “Djokovic needs an operation”. This means no Wimbledon and probably no Olympics. The GOAT will be back for the US Open hopefully.
OLYMPIC GOLD 💔
I’ve had torn meniscus on my knees playing singles tennis. The first time I came back too soon with full force and tore it again. I’m no Novak but I think he may well miss both Wimbledon and the Olympics. Missing the Olympics will be a crushing since it could well be his last chance at getting the elusive Olympics Gold Medal in Singles Tennis.
Could this be the end of the Big 3? I am not sad that one great era of tennis is about to come to a close. I had the same feeling when both Sampras and Agassi retired. What will the men's tennis be like I thought. However, it ushered in the era of the Big 3. Now we have a great rivalry between Sinner and Alcaraz. Throw in Ruud and Zverev, we are in for another stretch of years of great men's tennis.
Agree, we got plenty to look forward.
Brand new first time champion
Damn.
So glad he decided to withdraw from the French open. This way he has time to heal and prepare for the upcoming grand slams.❤❤❤
Hopefully he can play Wimbledon and US Open. Hoping he wins one more major. Career definitely winding down..
Ruud has a knack of piling up undeserved grand slam semis and finals
Tbh I sort of believe that Ruud would beat Djokovic in 4 with the way Djokovic slugged through his matches
Ruud looked a bit sharper than his usual self, and this is coming from someone that despised the way of tennis that Ruud played
But well, not like we'll ever be able to know the outcome of the matchup
If it's meniscus he miss Wimbledon and Olympics.
It would be a splendid occasion if Casper Ruud goes to play Jannik Sinner in the final. They are the two tennis' most gentle and composed personalities in the present era. No tantrums, no screamings... just cool, calm and composed. ❤ them, great personalities compared to NOvak.
😢
Sorry😢
Wow. How disappointing after two amazing five set marathon comebacks. The good news for Novak in his last two rounds is he fought hard and dug deep to pull out some gutsy victories. The bad news - notwithstanding todays knee injury update - is why is he struggling so hard to go five sets against the 30th ranked player in Musetti and the 27th ranked player in Cerundolo?
Could he have beaten Ruud in the next round? We'll never know but based on how he's been playing and the most recent result between the two in Monte Carlo, I just don't think so because of the tenacity and consistency of Ruud who is a better player than Musetti and Cerundolo.
So now Novak is dealing with one of the toughest injuries of his career at age 37. I've had 2 meniscus surgeries and they're really not too bad although one was worse than the other only because I had more damage. If it's just a simple meniscus tear, average recovery time is 6-8 weeks for average people. Novak is not average. He's a super-athlete and given his health and gluten free diet which is naturally inflammation free, that alone will speed recovery so if he decides to get surgery, he could be up and running in 4 weeks but not all meniscus tears require surgery. He may decide to just do straight physical therapy and rehab. I think Wimbledon is going to be a stretch but the Olympics are a realistic goal.
Regardless, I think shutting it down and taking some extended time off is exactly what he needs. His head has clearly been a million miles away since Australia and given what he's achieved in the last 12 months, time away from the tour may just be what the doctor ordered!
Novak wasn't going to go through Ruud- more than likely Zverev then Sinner or Alcaraz in the final even if he were 100%.
Will there be time for him to recover for Wimbledon where Alcaraz & Sinner will be waiting again. Don't see him winning any more slams moving forward unless Sinner or Acaraz get injured or they get upset before he has to face them. He also has to deal with second tier players, and he needs to luck out in future draws.
so only one semi final?
I wish Novak a speedy recovery !!!
of no..... health is most important. hopefully not a miniscus
Novak is focused on Olympic and why to take a new lvl with his injury
😢😢Nole
Haters saying he’s faking his injury been real quiet since this dropped
Wow
😢😢😢
Sinner was going to replace the Big 3 sooner or later. The Golden Era of tennis has officially come to an end. What a glorious 20 years of watching Fed, Nadal, and Novak just completely dominate tennis.
Djokovic's casual approach to practicing and everything else in this season has brought him this injury. And then two 5setters didn't help. His body wasn't prepared for such an effort and muscle stress. Injury has had to come inevitably. This is a warning, either you do this sport properly or don't do it at all.
I think both Nadal and Djoker are rehabbing the rest of 2024 and plotting returns in 2025. We have not seen the last of them; they are the best competitors ever in this sport.
Man, I hope you're right!
Hoping it is just minor... All the best Nole
It´s not a minor injury but there are 2 possible ways to cure it. One of them would mean standard surgery and then Djokovic would be out for about 5 months but there´s another one, which implies laser surgery and that one would mean he will only be out for about 4 to 6 weeks. I hope for the second outcome.
Injuries are what usually retire aging tennis players. Federer and now Nadal reinforce this view. Knees especially with tennis players. And red clay and grass are both slippery surfaces.
Scared to play against Alcaraz
I'm not surprised and personally think that he should retire yesterday to give Cerundolo a chance to play against Casper and not to aggravate his knee injury (speaking from someone who tried to push through a knee injury once, which I bitterly regret).
Agreed. However we did get one of the great comebacks to console ourselves
It's not about giving Cerundolo the chance, it's fair enough if you try to win regardless, it's about aggravating the injury which might be a decision to regret later. I'm sure Nadal regrets now not pulling out against Fritz in Wimbledon and M.Mcdonald in Australian open and if he had the chance to go back in time he would never continue playing those matches.
Obviously, he was doing well enough to win. A lot of times during the match You don’t really realize how much you hurt until afterwards when you start to tighten up. These guys hurt all the time. You can’t just retire a match every time you hurt something.
@@tdane5017 There is a difference between the pain you have in your daily basis as an athlete and the pain that limits your movement, when it comes to that kind of pain you have to make the right decision.
@@tdane5017 Actually, if he were 10 years younger and if this were the US Open, I would say keep playing and see what happens. But at his age and given that this is only the middle of the season, on the most physical surface that he has the least chance of winning a grand slam, it's really not worth the risk of potentially derailing a whole season.
It’s sad news Novak can’t play but having a tear in the knee muscle means lots of time off recovering and at his age that could take awhile

Not good for Nole, not good for tennis. I'm sure Sinner would have preferred to have gained No 1 spot on his merit alone rather than by Djokovic withdrawal.
Sinner did earn this on his merits, or have we forgotten he's the current AO champion and just surpassed Djokovic in the points race? Whereas Djokovic has yet to make a final this entire year, and it's half over.
