Matt Made A Call

- I got a call from @MattsOffRoadRecovery that he needed a hand with a recovery. It was a truck that had been stuck in a field in some mud. I agreed to come over and help him way before ever seeing any pictures. Once seeing the pictures though I figured it was gonna go pretty quick. Boy was I wrong. This truck had gotten stuck, then left for a few days and the ground froze around the tires. Effectively locking it in place. After awhile we decided to pick each tire individually to break it loose. Worked very well on the front end. The back was extremely stuck. So since Matt had his rollback already in route, we waited for it to arrive so we could use the flatbed to help pry things out. With the rollback on the receiver hitch and Trailmater pulling on the rim we finally got all the wheels loose. However the mud was so froze in the wheels that they wouldn't roll. Luckily with the ground being frozen and cold it slid pretty well so we drug it to the pavement where they loaded it on the rollback to then haul to the dealership for repairs. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

Are you sure Matts not on a reconnaissance mission, learning Rory's secrets. Lol
That’s what I’m thinking.
If you see a flamethrower on Matt’s new wrecker, then we will know he was on a recon mission.
haha.
🤣
Good one! Might just be so, but in any aspect, was nice to see the 2 working together.
Trail mater is truly an off road wrecker. Being able to drag that pickup truck through mud is truly a testament to the work Rory did to build it. Good job, both of you.
Looks like in the battle of the Immovable Object, the Irresistible Force won this time.
No kidding. That Dodge is so heavy. Trail mater pulled it like a sled without spinning is an amazing sight to behold.
Why not use the roll back and toe that out
I wish Hollywood were as entertaining as your rescue videos.
TrailMater will always be #1!!
Rory, Trailmater for the Win. God Bless
NOTHING can defeat Rory and Matt working together!! VERY Entertaining!!
An Awesome team!!!
AMEN! They’re very in sync getting it done! I wasn’t expecting this gem! Best of luck to Matt and Rory at KOH!❤️
It’s like the Avengers! What a team. They should merge their businesses and work together all the time
Matt signed up to do a wrecker job, before his wrecker was operational.
YOU do the math !
Man that was a work out. Way to stay after it. I was surprised that the suspension didn't let lose from the axles & or frame as stuck as that was.
A special thank you to Jamie & Matt for helping promote Trail Mater!
That was one of the hardest recovery ever. Frozen ice and dirt is unbelievable. Great job Rory, you are #1
@@4x4hiker matts wrecker broke he made a post on RUclips actually asking if someone can run and get parts from a couple towns over lol
I like the way these guys put ego aside and arena afraid to ask for help
That thing will need an alignment plus other things.
@@politicalfisherman540 yea...the 'alignment plus' package is going to be spendy
@@politicalfisherman540 yep, lot's of other things!
The roll back was right there looks like a good time to load up
It wouldnt make it out with that lunk on its back.
There is nothing finer than Trailmatter!
That thing drug like a sled at a tractor pull.😬
But hey, it’s not stuck anymore !
Thanks for taking us so long for the ride guys ! 👍
So kind of you to take Matt under your wing and show him the ropes... Lol great vid bud!
That's that torque Rory talks about. 6500lb truck with all 4 locked up. Just dragging it along. Thanks for bringing us along.
That's a Chevy big block.
I'm aware. I have one in my 66 k10
When all else fails, call Rory. He is the ultimate recovery expert.
Trail Mater is an absolute beast. Pulling a truck that doesn't roll/up hill in the mud is impressive
Holy cow! I would have never believed that a vehicle could get frozen to ground that bad if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes!! Awesome teamwork and recovery!
Ice with some dirt and plant matter and stuff to help bind it and so on might as well be cement in terms of how hard it sets and how hard it can be to break in a situation like this... Ice and sawdust has been suggested to make aircraft carrying barges and makes a not bad improvised bullet resistant material, look up picrete
@@Simon-ho6ly Pykrete....very interesting history
It's pretty crazy. I've seen a couple rigs freeze in that just had to be left until the next thaw. If you're not careful you can rip axles off and buckle frames trying to recover vehicles that sink in mud and then freeze.
Once I seen the condition of the truck, I knew it was going to be a workout for these guys to get it out. Trail mater is a heck of a rig, but even it has its limits. Thanks to Matt, Rory and Paul ( fab rats ), I've learned more on how to pull out stuck vehicle's and what to use that works better then chain.
Next time they have a job like this, they may want to try this method from Yakutia, Siberia. ruclips.net/video/lH6r6J3WsDk/видео.html
Pulling that RAM with frozen wheels was incredible.. Rory is the man.
BIG BLOCK CHEVY BABY!
And a diesel, crew cab, long bed Ram at that, extremely heavy. (With at least 2 wheels not spinning)
I don't understand why they flat towed it if the rollback was there?
And yet there was a empty roll back sitting right behind it only moments before.🤔
@@iffykidmn8170 Weight on the rollback would have bogged it down in the mud.
That was a tough one! Letting the air out of the tires to break the tires loose from their icy grave was a smart move!
The Front Dig is never unnecessary; it shows Rory's mastery over the time/space continuum! But what a brutal rescue, poor old Trail Mater will need a new clutch after that work-out.
That was a crazy recovery. This Florida girl learned a lot about leaving vehicles in the mud in freezing temps. We love the videos when Rory saves Matt’s bacon😂 Love both channels!
Regular broadcast television can never compare to this reality RUclips! You guys "rock" separately and teamed-up!! You guys are TOW-RIFFIC!!! 😊
"TOW-RIFFIC" My Dad would like that one
@@talon0863 feel free to use!! 👍
And it's about time they try. There's no way that the viewing numbers if all these channels would be some sort of wake up call to t.v execs and decision makers. Don't create drama,it's already out there in the REAL world
Rory is the best friend you could ever have when in need.
You two sure make crazy and hilarious team.
I love how you can tell Matt watches Trail Mater. "Unnecessary front dig" Total Rory
Good Vid
DC
One of your best recoveries yet. Unfortunately Mike and Shawn weren't there but Matt did a good job channeling Mike when he mentioned the completely unnecessary front dig. Great content! Better than anything on TV.
Holy crap, you fellas earned your money on that one!! I’ve never seen anything stuck like that!! Wow most impressive and you didn’t give up!!
Rory is why great men can do great things. Because he is always there to bail them out after they realize they weren’t ready yet.
Ol Trailm8r got er done! Dragging that anchor all the way out just giving her the beans. She sounded healthy!
Rory, you have such an amazing attitude and amount of patience. That makes for a great dude, awesome friend!
You don't see the off camera stuff that would make a sailor blush.
@@MaxNafeHorsemanship Neither do you, so you don't know.
Are you sure Matt wasn't just testing out the capabilities of the competition 🤔
Great job guys!
The coolest thing in this vid is I can tell how much you and Matt highly respect each other and how much you both have each other's back.
I know the Wrecker games are just a bit of fun for the boys at the end of the day but I can't see Trail Mater coming 2nd or worse It's a Swiss army knife compared to one big butcher knife and a couple butter knives 🤣🤷🏾♂️
Anyway awesome recovery team.
Yeah, I think the Rory/Trailmater team are the one to beat. It's what you call a "mature product". Matt's and Paul's are new builds. They still don't know what's going to break yet.
What an impressive machine, Trail Mater is just a work horse. Locked wheels plowing mud along with the truck
Trailmater, the winner of the first wrecker games, showed a ton of tracktion hauling that truck!
Great to see you all working together and growing your channels.
I think trail mater or bsf will win just because of their experience
@@jackk8422 Trailmater and Rory are more suited and experienced for the Sand Hollow trails then Eric.
One of the guys in the company got his CJ5 stuck in a mud bog up on a ridge on Ft. Wainwright, AK. He and another guy walked out back to the barracks. This was in Sep/Oct of 79' or 80'. They tried to get it out over the next few weeks. Then it snowed and the temps dropped. It was frozen all winter long until Breakup the next spring. When they were able to get it out, the tires had popped due to the permafrost and the mud freezing. This tidbit of triva was the first thing I thought of when I saw that Dodge frozen to the ground. Funny memory.
Need more video's of Rory and Matt on recoveries together the was truly a very entertaining video nothing like an old square body tragging a dodge 3/4 ton through the mud with 3 locked up wheels
Cracked me up when the truck finally lifted the fourth wheel out of the ground and the mudflap stood there frozen
What a recovery.!. Had you both scratching your heads and me going, WOW at various times in this great clip,
Love seeing the Front Digs
when You got it, Use it I say
Rory is such an operator! And TrailMater is a beast....dragging out that Ram on locked wheels
Trail Mater is one of those things that looks like it would fall apart the moment you touched it, but is actually highly capable and sturdy. Well built and well driven!
Sleeper rust bucket
I can't believe how crazy hard that recovery was!
Nice job Rory, Matt and Jamie!
The pulling power of trailmater is ridiculously impressive!
TM is a beast. I can’t wait for their future collaborations when the Matt’s wrecker is ready.
So true! Watching it drag that locked up truck down the road…
Scrap recovery job. Dodge delete on the Cummins motor.
Sure is remarkable for such a hokey, cobbled together weak mess. The so-called winch lift is so sketchy I would be scare too be around when using it and was waiting for it to snap. Good thing they brought plenty of floor jacks and had lots of time.
@@johnjameson7056 must be a ferd fanboy
Rory is top dog when it comes to tow truck recoveries
Dang i thought fer sure Matt would of brought his handy dandy claw hammer to help dig away those froze tires lol........😂😂😂🤣🤣
You share it all. No sugar coating it! The good, bad and ugly of something that bad. Most would just walk away or say you need a backhoe?? maybe with a hammer to break the frozen ground? Awesome and what a friendship too.
These guys can't walk away without trying to solve the puzzle. The more challenges they attempt, the bigger their arsenal of experience becomes.
I don't pretend to know anything about this stuff, but I wonder why they didn't put the Dodge Ram on the flatbed once they had it free and then use TowMater to help pull the flatbed out? At least the flatbed could roll and had power. Might have been too much combined weight in that mud, though--as I said, I don't know anything about this stuff?
Trail Mater is a BEAST!!
Humm, that was intense! If the baby wrecker is so much fun it'll be awesome to watch Matt's Heavy Wrecker in action.
Your a Good friend to have.🙏🇺🇸👍😇
That moment when trying to lift the front and the first noise happens, and matt and rory simultaneously take a couple of steps back...
I think my favorite part of the recovery videos that come out of this area aside from the personality, is the fact that you all aren't fighting about "he was in my area and took my customer, its that everyone is always there for each other. The area I moved to in the 90 used to be like that but after 21 years in the army i moved my family back here and its completely changed, too any people out for themselves now. ty al for the videos!
lol because they are all milking you tube
Is there fault in that?
Pretty sure neither one of them are desparate for work
lol post something about how nice it is to see grown men not being drama queens and then drama queens start commenting lmao gotta love it
I used drive tow truck for about 15 years it was always cut throat, other tow companies always trying to steel your customer out from under you, even when i worked AAA ( witch was almost always "free" to the customer) I would pull up to the customer and have to fight with pocher.
What a neat video! Seeing both of you guys hammering brain cells together to fix an unfortunate problem was really neat! That truck looked like it really put both you guys and Maters abilities to the test!
Rockstars... a beautiful combination of Common Sense, Ingenuity, Farmgineering with some Brute Force & Ignorance for the win. Awesome collab! I learn something every time I watch. Hopefully I will never need to use that knowledge.
That was BRILLIANT, what a team you guys make, the power of trail mater is mind boggling...
I have a few RC rock crawlers, wouldn't it be awesome if one of the RC manufacturers made a fully working trail mater.
You can get winches that would fit already.
Could use the traxxas trx-4 k10 high trail edition as the base!
I think if they'd put any more lifting power to that pickup they'd have a banana shaped but still stuck truck. That ice was sure impressive!
@@deanbuchanan4151 that's a great idea, I wonder how is going to scratch build one first...
Rory to the rescue!! Man THAT was some stuck truck!! I'm actually surprised that you managed to get it out at all!! Frozen mud is like concrete!! Jack hammers and dynomite!! LOL!! Maybe some tarps and a space heater for a couple hours may have helped but who'd-a-thunk you'd need that on a recovery?? You guys did a great job getting it out at all!!!
WOW...Mother Earth really wanted to keep that trophy. Well Done!
After watching this video, I realized that everyone can build an off-road wrecker, but there is only one TrailMater. That is one tough SOB. I enjoy everyone's channel but Rory and Traimater are unstoppable. He has set the bar so high on one can touch it.😂😂😅
Team work for the win! Two great companies working together to get the customer taken care of. That mud was as bad as permafrost. Jamie's such a trooper and Matt and Rory are the Man. Matt's little song was the cherry on top, lol. Great video guys, stay safe and GOD bless
You're a great man helping out his friends Rory.
NOTHING better than a big block Chevy screaming for vengeance
man oh man,... that was a super gnarly getting it unfrozen recovery....soemone buy Matt a cold weather jacket! Great collective effort all!
poor trail mater needs a good bath before the mud hardens into concrete....
Trail mater is a very priceless piece of equipment! Another great video 👍
Rory and Matt - the duo that NEVER say die!! A great video on a very demanding recovery.
I misread what you wrote thought you wrote the duo that never diet , 😂😂 guess I need an eye check up
Convicted fraudster Matt and poser Rory? Both fake
It seems like their mission is to find the best lunch spot
It's always a pleasure to see both of you in one video! It makes a very hard and difficult job like this look easy and funny. Great work!
I think that "dead pull" at the end proves just what a competent vehicle "Trailmater" is, especially with such a proficient operator as Rory.
Beginning to think the "wrecker games" will just be a battle for second.
When Rory did the "Unnecessary Front Dig" on you Matt he was "Flexing on You" to show what he can do that your heavy wrecker can't do. He's getting into your head ahead of the competition. It was subtle but powerful... You GO, Rory!
I love Rory's front digs almost as much as Rory does, and i think Mater will win the wrecker games. But Matt's project has a twin stick and line locks for digs too, whenever it gets running.
You got Matt to be the cameraman 😂
Trailmater is a bad news machine! To drag that heavy dodge with locked up wheels. Holy crap!!
" can actually drive around and make noises"
I died 😆 🤣 😂
Its great to see the excitement building in this community for the tow truck Olympics. Matt, Rory, Paul, Eric and Merlin all must be doing something right. What is it, the novelty of the games, something that's never been done before? It would be cool if this turned into an annual event.
Holy cow 😮 what a fight, and I have to say Matt and Rory really work good together
It really doesn't make sense that Matt has 1.5m subscribers, and Rory only has 157k! Awesome video, Rory! I hope having Jaymie (& Matt) ups your subscriber count.
Trailmater was like "you're coming with me one way or the other buddy" 😂😂😂 braaap braaap
Trail Mater at it's finest
Makes the impossible look easy and miracles just take a little
You came, you saw, you conquered! Great job, Guys. I am just AMAZED how much weight the hoist can lift when built out off what looks like small sized materials.
Good thing Mater is a tough old boy. That's a beating. Good to see the channel growing.
I'm impressed, that was a new level of stuck.
So like everybody else, this was an awesome recovery, and I especially enjoyed the wheel-locked Ram getting dragged. But I've got to be missing something. Did y'all forget that the rollback was just a few feet away when you got the truck unstuck?
Probably didn't want to weigh the rollback down on that muddy trail. Not worth damaging the rollback's transmission when Trailmater is right there.
Put the ram on the roll back and pull roll back with Rorys truck for an assist.
@@markjohnson2641 With the rollback and that cummins you are looking at close to 30,000lbs. If you get that stuck you are screwed. Safe play was to do what they did.
This seems to transcend off road recovery into an archeological dig!
No I’d say Matt is right with 50%. You know what needs to be done to get it out now.
You did it again thanks for letting me watch
Matt's just looking for more tutelage to ensure his 2nd place finish over Paul
Awesome job. Tough one. But with everyone’s experience a little bit here a little bit there you guys got it done.
I think the unsung hero here is Maters clutch... great video.
Trailmater sounds awesome at high revs!
That was amazing! That takes being stuck to a whole new level! Your persistence paid off!
It’s always the recoveries that I think will be straightforward that seem to be the toughest (this, the Prius up on the mountain). I loved that the mud flap stayed frozen into the ground when that last tire popped up.
What can beat Rory and Matt (and Jamie of course) working together and get the job done! Thank you for a most entertaining video!👍👍👍
That was a freakin mess! Thank goodness for good friends and unique equipment.
Coming from a hot part of the world (far north Australia) I've been watching both of you and Fab Rats (and a few others from around the area and connected with you guys) through your winter and the snow is beautiful; but never in my life has a car frozen to the ground ever been a thing to enter my head. Cars down to the pan in mud and sand plenty of times (including myself on several occasions) but down to the pan and frozen was a whole new experience for me. Absolutely amazing to watch as I thought when you drove up "oh this will be a boring one" and it was the opposite. I've been watching the 3 of you starting with Matt from back when your subscribers where in the couple of thousand (so a couple of years or so) and I've seen some sketchy recoveries but that one takes the cake by far
Check out Casey Ladelle's channel for "Ford, Chevy and Dodge all stuck. Can a Jeep pull them out?" from January 13th, for some very similarly stuck trucks. Also, Robby Layton and Heavy D Sparks, both channels for them rescuing a telehandler stuck in deep snow, they got it done, but was a multi trip process, and a couple videos on each channel, talk about sketchy!
@@javabeanz8549 i will check out Casey’s channel and yes also follow Robbie layton and heavy D
That telehandler recovery was wild, a different type of scetchy pulling it back onto the road was bloody impressive
Living in Alaska during the seventies, I remember burning the clutch up on my VW bug because I didn't change to a lighter gear oil and the transmission was so cold it wouldn't move!!! That is why I now live in a warmer place.
I've resorted to tarping tracked machines and running propane heaters under them until they thaw and in the past fires have been built under bulldozers to get them to start.
@@doug112244 thats mind boggling to me. Mind you it’s currently 46c or 115f here so you can see why im amazed at what you guys have to do
Love your video's, .... and especially with Matt, what a bonus.
Pulling a 9000 lb locked up dodge in the mud?! In the words of Tommy Boy: THAT. WAS. AWESOME!!!!💪
I tore the boom out of a wrecker once on a very similar job. The wrecker was not of the highest quality, but inexperience certainly was a contributing factor. We were contemplating setting up a barbecue with pots of water to try to thaw things out.
That was one hard pull. I was afraid for you all. I thought you'd get broken flying metal. Glad everyone's ok.
I enjoy watching how you guys work with one another and help each other out. Good stuff.
SO IMPRESSIVE ON THIS DODGE GETTING OUTTA THERE WITH WHEELS LOCKED UP...AWSOME TOW...BEST YET!!! TY!!!
C'mon now! We all know Matt planted that truck there few days ago to get another chance of learning Rory's ways of getting things done with a wrecker..
Trust me, I'm from Florida and I saw Matt do it from here! 🤪
I just have one word to say: "DUDE"!!!!!!! I am thinking that this may have been in top 3 most challenging recoveries on this channel.... period. Right there with Toyoya that fell off Spring Bottom Canyon and that White Jeep that you guys had to pull from ravine. This was legit!
That's just crazy... Texas dosen't see much of that. That may be one of the toughest recoveries I've ever seen you guys do.
I have mentioned this before I HATE MUD
you boys are magical thank you 😊
Great video. You and Matt are so different and yet so the same
