The only way for the baby birds not to die in the hands of the baby cuckoo is if the nest is made by humans. The nests made by humans are usually deep and the baby cuckoo can't push the eggs out.

Nah, you give the host parents too much credit. If they actually thought it was anything but one of their chicks, they would have just abandoned the nest. I mean, birds abandon their nests for less quote often. But a larger predator bird taking over is a pretty strong reason to do so.
Seriously Though, if they only pretended to feed it, it would never have gotten this big. Even just a day or two of lax feeding would make a bird like this more lethargic than it was.

Common cuckoo ( Cucculus canorus) is an endangered and protected species in europe. Today, they are very rare in some parts and they don't affect bird populations at all, mostly because their main target species (usually Reed warbler) coevolved with cuckoos and aren't themselves in danger. People dont realize this, but most of the times cuckoo attempts at parasiting end in failure because the mother bird recognizes the egg or saw the cuckoo lay in their nest. People also tend to hate on cuckoos because we anthropomorphize them and perceive them negatively, but the truth is that they are a wonderful result of thousands of years of evolution and we should be amazed by them, not wanting to kill tem. Each year, common cuckoos cross Europe and the Sahara to winter in Africa making a +7000 km journey 2 times per year. They are a natural predator of the Pine processionary moth's caterpillars which can be extremely dangerous to humans because of their urticating hairs and tendency to gather in huge numbers. But cuckoos can eat them.
Adult cuckoos mimic the flight and colors of sparrowhawks so that other birds don't attack them.
They also have a unique and magnificent song and without them, our countryside is less alive and beautiful...
Please, learn to know cuckoos and if you're lucky enough to hear them in your garden, be thankful for that amazing species and opportunity

All the creature has the same right to live. Isn't their fault if they evolved into a parasitic species. The little bird of cuckoo was born and had the impulse to push out the eggs, it's just his DNA what's wrong about it?
If the nest would be mine, I absolutely wouldn't interfere, if someone like it should know that you must act as a spectator, never interfere, especially if you're advantaging a species over another for no reason, only because our brains works differently.

**As soon as Mama Bird is gone, cuckoo bird stops the smiling act, and turns to the other baby.**
Cuckoo: "Don't think I forgot about you. I don't know HOW you made it this far, but you see your cold, dead brother/sister egg over there? That's gon' be you if you piss me off. Tell that be-tch to start feeling ME first, or I'mma tear that pretty little beak of yours right off your face."
Other Baby Bird: *Beak pouts and chatters in utter terror.* "B-b-but, I'm soooooo hungry!" :'(
Cuckoo: *Mocks baby bird*: "Oooooooh, but I'm soooooo hungry." Pouts and chatters beak further mocking baby bird*: "Say that again, and my real mommy and daddy's gonna' fugg your mama right up! They gonna fugg her up! >:D
    Other Baby Bird: **Shuts up.**
Cuckoo: "Ha, yeah, that's what I thought. Who's the biggest one in this nest?"
    Other Baby Bird: ....
Cuckoo: "You freaking answer me when I speak to you!!!!"
    Other Baby Bird: "Y-you are."
Cuckoo: You darn right I AM! This is MY nest! If it weren't for my niceness, you'd be flat on the ground covered in ants and worms. Mmmmmmmm, worms....
NOW BOW, WEAKLING. SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST! STUPID, LESSER BIRDS LIKE YOU WERE BORN TO SERVE ME! YOUR PLACE IS UNDER MY BOUNTIFUL RUMP! MADE READY FOR MY GLORIOUS NEXT GENERATION! YOU SHOULD BE GRATEFUL FOR SUCH A PRIVILEGE!"
**Rolls over on other baby bird, crushing him under the excess weight.**
Other Baby Bird: "Y-you're hurting me.... I can't move...."
Cuckoo: **Bored look**: "Can't hear you." **Let's a sloppy, rancid, wet one rip.**

... Jesus, are you ok? This is fucked up. Even for these birds, and that is not a simple thing to do

@@genaronardelli5279 I write a lot of horror and thriller-based themes. Glad you think it's effed up, because it means I haven't lost my touch. XD
Though this one was more just off the wall stupidity involving the murderous side of cuckoos. They are rather effed up birds.

Why does the mother put the food in the mouth of her baby bird and keep pulling it out repeatedly almost teasing, eventually giving it to that parasite cuckoo???

I would feed it before it decides to eat his roommate..

Everybody is mad at the cuckoo but nobody’s talking about how the human who recorded and uploaded this video could’ve easily intervened, He’s just sitting back watching the bird get bigger and invade the nest, he’s probably the one that put the egg there in the first place.😢 I’m trying to figure out how to Cuckoo gonna get out the exit hole to leave, it looks like it’s bigger than the exit

Fun fact: some cuckoos, like roadrunners, are dedicated parents who care for their chicks themselves, and don't dump it on other birds

Used to hear cuckoo's all the time when I was younger (I'm only 23) then I started noticing them less and less and none now ... I'm glad
I'd rather see blue tits and fire crests
