I totally agree on the thumb and pinky rests, palm grip and most of the rest. I never felt a need for the weight adjust systems as I always ended up removing all weights. I actually used to believe that I liked to have a heavy mouse but over time I realized that what I wanted was a light mouse, but still big enough to fill my palm and with good thumb and pinky rest so they don't drag on the mouse mat. The most comfortable mouse I ever had was a... Ah I've forgotten the brand! The model was 3M or M3 or something very similar. Google search didn't help me this time. I remember that it was the first mouse released under a brand name used by a manufacturer of some of the first generation of gaming mouse pads. That brand had been absent from the market for more than five years before they suddenly got relaunched with new products, and this mouse was one of them. It was so close to being perfect for me. The ergonomics was fantastic and it glided over the mouse pad so easily and with minimal stiction the precision was amazing. But they has skimped on the scroll wheel sensor and they tended to start glitching after about a month of use. But it was a large mouse the filled my hand perfectly and had both a pinky and a thumb rest that made sure the fingers never touched the mouse pad. After I had it replaced three times I got my money back and started to look for another mouse. I tried several mice that broke down after less than a month of use, I gave each model two tries just in case the first one was a lemon, but it always ended with me getting a refund and trying something else. Eventually a sales clerk recommended I try a Mionix NAOS 8200 as they had extremely few returns and he found it very comfortable. It was pretty comfortable and had a pretty good shelf for the thumb and groves for the ring and pinky fingers, but not really a shelf so I had to learn to live with the pinky dragging occasionally. I've been using that mouse since late 2008, so 12 years and counting now, and it still works perfectly and looks like new. But one of these day it will die on me and I have no ide what mouse will be able to measure up to it now.
I had a mad cat Rat 7 for years, replaced it when it died. It was the comfiest mouse I ever used because of all the adjustability and the ability to weight it very heavily, which I like and everybody else hates.
I love a heavy mouse too. When I bought my first gaming mouse I wanted a RAT, but got a Logitech G502 instead because it was a bit cheaper, still a heavy mouse and I still use it to this day with all the additional weights in it

@@Kappi1997 I got in contact with Mad Catz and they told me they don't do RMA but the mouse was still in warranty so they just sent me a whole new mouse after the scroll wheel in my RAT 7 broke (using the click functionality). I had a RAT 5 back in the day, broke less than a month after the warranty ran out. Quality stuff. Oh, and there was a screw on the thumb rest that started rusting from my sweat. Fantastic design.
I LOVED the thumb and pinky rests on mad catz mice. Not having part of your fingers dragging on the mousepad is a huge deal for comfort. It would be great to have that on a modern mouse (without compromising weight too much).
I really like those 'old' gaming mice, and their 'edgy' design. As a MMO gamer who uses a palm grip, pretty much every 'modern' mouse is a pain to use, with the exception of maybe a Naga. Those old mice fit my hand perfectly, whereas few if any of the new mice(glorious, razer(except for naga), Logitech etc) fit my hand.
The Roccat Tyon checked those boxes for me. Plus the button placement is ingenious, they never get in the way and are always there when ya need em. One of the few mice that actually fill my hand.
It's all a matter of preference. Personally, I like mice that are heavy, with a pinky rest. With the trend going towards lighter mice, heavier mice are rare, and those that are typically have bad build quality. Furthermore, I haven't seen many mice nowadays that have pinky rests or palm rest adjustability. These older mice have those features, and of the modern mice that fit my specifications, well, they're few and far between. For example, my primary driver since 2014 has been my Razer Ouroboros. Heavy, with a pinky rest, adjustable palm rest, adjustable length. That was my perfect mouse. Sadly, the trend moved away from those customizable mice, towards G502 and Deathadder type styles. Those that remain command high prices, such as the Swiftpoint Z series coming in at around $200. I've tried some of the Zowie series, the Deathadders, G502, Glorious, etc. and all of them were fine, but had certain flaws. Some were too short, some were too long, some were too narrow, some had too high/low palm rests, some were obnoxiously light, the list goes on. In today's market, its easy to find a passable fit. It's much harder to get the perfect fit, which a lot of the older mice tried to achieve.
I use a palm grip. Been really happy with my Roccat Tyon. Middle of the road weight, and fully programmable with several extra buttons. Just realized another response recommended this one too. Doesnt look like they make it anymore, but it can still be had for $100 on amazon. It looks like the current Roccat Leadr is the same shape and button layout, but wireless.

Been using a Cyborg R.A.T.7 MMO for 9 years, and couldn't be happier about it's performance. Obviously, the sensor isn't as accurate when comparing to newer mice like the Logitech G502, which I use as my main mouse. But it works amazingly well with MMOs or games like ArmA3, when you have all the vital bindings comfortably at your fingertips, so you never need to move your hands from the mouse or the WASD keys during intense moments..
I'm still using my R.A.T 5 daily 13 years later. Just purchased replacement pads to refresh it and a cable bunjee to eliminate cable drag... feels like a new mouse. I hope it never dies, until theres a game changing mouse tech breakthrough I'm going to keep refurbishing it forever.
I had one of the Mad Catz RAT3 mice back in the day. Was actually a really good mouse despite the bizarre shape. Fit in my hand perfectly, hand pretty decent build quality from what I can remember (although back then I was a little young and new to the market to really care, seem to remember it being okay none-the-less) and I can still remember the super satisfying soft touch rubber laid on top of all the plastics and that held up really well! Honestly an underrate mouse back in the day. It got too much attention on the looks but that was always going to happen.
Try the roccat Tyon. It’s a fairly large mouse with a ton of very convenient buttons. Mine has served me well for the past several years. I personally thought the buttons would get in the way but it’s shockingly efficient. No other mouse has checked as many of my boxes 👌👌
Back in the day I upgraded from a Logitech MX518 to a RAT 5 and I was blown away. It felt so good in hand that I ended up getting another one for work and then upgrading my gaming setup with the RAT MMO (which felt as a downgrade but I needed all those buttons). I'm now using a Wireless G502 and an MX Master but the RAT 5 is still the mousse that impressed me the most. Off topic: A couple of days ago I was helping my brother with his set up and his girlfriend was there with her laptop (which is her gaming pc :|). I was thoroughly surprised to see she was using an MX518 and after praising them for such an excellent budget choice it turned out it was MY MX518 which was still working after more than 10 years of use and a couple of hand me downs.
I remember walking through Best Buy back in the day and seeing these things and thinking what hardcore gamer mice they were lol. I kinda want to buy one now for the nostalgia and lulz
Microsoft Intellimouse - Best Gaming Mouse of my childhood. Upgrading my from a 2 button mouse with scroll wheel and a ball for input to the intellimouse - Scroll wheel with a click button, side button for going back, and it was optical. My gaming skills went through the roof after that upgrade.
when i was more then a decade younger , i used to rock a '' Cyborg 9 " while playing on my homebuild rigg . best mouse i ever had . best years of gaming for me as well .
As someone with massive hands, I agree with adjustability. It’s weird because when I play games, I like to claw grip, but when I edit pictures, watch videos or anything else I like to palm, so I feel like the adjustability would be great
Just FYI I'm not siding with the mouse or anything but the scroll wheel has a lot of play in it because you push the wheel left or right so you can scroll a webpage to the left or right. On most sites, you don't have this option, but it also works when moving a photo left or right in a photo editing app like gimp. It's a nice feature to have in a mouse but doesn't get used to often.
I still use RAT mice, I can't find any mouse as comfortable as these are for me. The adjustable back is what really makes it hard for me to find another mouse i like. I have the RAT 8 and i love it!
The Razor Lachesis is a perfect shape for my hand and muscle memory. But for years now I've been using a Rat 7 and its nearly perfect. I switch the left plastic for one with a big ledge for my thumb to rest on, removed the plastic on the right to allow my MCP joint on my pinky to hook under the mouse (I like to lift my mouse) because ive got an Asymmetric claw grip and I cranked the weight up to the max. A heavy mouse works great for my SolidWorks habits (i.e. it stays where a I left it) but the Rat 7 tends to double click on the buttons when preased once. The snipe button is superb. Not got a clue about the thumb scroll wheel and never got it to work in any game. The sensitiviy and sensor is cracking for all surfaces ive tried. If they made a lachesis with a snipe button and some weights to make it brick like then I would buy that.
Back in a day I've used to have R.A.T. 7 until I've accidentally bent the bottom frame which made it unusable, unfortunately. Was a great mouse. I wasn't tinkering with it much, more like set and forget type of deal. But I've absolutely loved thumb and pinkie support. Man I wish some modern mice had some of those.
My specific use case demands a mouse like the rat. I had my right pinky amputated at work and reattached, I have little feeling and mobility now. The massive optional pinky rest is required for me. I found the rat7 and loved it for enough years to wear it out. Sadly a different company makes them now so my new rat8+ is noticably lower quality than my old rat7; but it's still the only mouse on the market that'll let me game in comfort.
I thought they had died long ago, however I still wouldn't trust a madcatz product. They have a reputation of being crap... since they dissolved the cyborg brand I don't think I will ever buy another product from them. I hope they can redeem their reputation but that's a long process and requires creating quality products and getting them reviewed and loved buy the public. i don't see that happening with them using optical mice and not laser and just pumping up the DPI instead of adding actual value to their products.
@@TheObsesedAnimeFreaks I have a RAT 3 who still works perfectly, but I agree that compared to higher tier mouse they do not compare in terms of ergonomics
when i think madcatz, i think of wierd shaped, cheap, knockoff console controllers with see thru plastic and very poor joystick responsiveness. Not who i would go to for a mouse in this day and age. Logitech or nothing.
@@johannjcqs5270 my rat 7 was perfect in ergonomics. it was one of the few mice that I really liked, because of the heightened palm rest and the pinky rest then the weight was almost too light but close enough. i loved my rat 7 and specifically chose the dark core because it had a pinky rest.
I just made an upgrade to my hardware and put my Mad Catz Rat3 to rest and bought the Rat 8+. And I still love it way better than all razer mice I tested
Reminds me of one of my first gaming mice, the MadCatz M.M.O. 7 At the time it was one of the most expensive mice out there (€90 or $100, unlike your $250 mice these days) and I loved it. Too bad the company went bankrupt.
Loved my R.A.T.7 until is started shocking me. Replaced it with a RAT8 and loved that too for around a year until one of the thumb buttons broke off the mouse days after Mad Catz went into bankruptcy. Bought a G502 Spectrum after that and loved it for the most part, and am now using a G502 Lightspeed which is just as good if not better.
So I'm still running my R.A.T. 5 (which I bought in 2010). I wasn't aware that these mice had fallen out of favour (which may be dramatic). I do notice that it's not as comfy as it used to be, but that's likely more to do with ME and aging, than it is with the mouse.
Had a r.a.t 7, personally despised using it. A friend of mine still has it on his setup. Fully working but quite worn out. Which surprised me not gonna lie. Feel like it's one if those that majority of people won't like, but has this niche small group that love it.
Gonna have to hang my head in shame.. I've really been wanting to get the white and gold version of this mouse for the last few months. I KNOW it's terrible, and I KNOW I'll never use it, but it's just so PRETTY!!
These remind me a lot of the razer ouroboros which is still my favourite mouse today, they seem to have a solid idea that just needs polishing to feel good.
Had a R.A.T 7 that stopped working a year ago or so. My bro was using it for the last 4 years, and i used it for about 5ish years prior to that. Think i got it close to when it came out in 2010 if i'm not mistaken. I got a lot of use out of that, but compared to the Logitech G903 with the Powerplay pad and the Razer Viper i'm currently using with a bungee, i can definitely see how far we've come with mice in the last few years.
As someone who mostly plays RPG's, Strategy games, and actually dose a lot of work (mostly coding) with it, I, in fact, prefer a higher weight. For that reason, and my fairly large hands, which make most mice uncomfortably small, i love my RAT 7 to this day. I've had it for almost ten years, and it is still going strong and in awesome condition. Should it ever move on to the great eternal beyond, my next one will also be a RAT, as the original engineers behind it reformed as a new company a few years ago and are, once again, building RATs Any other devoted RAT owners out there?
My razer ouroboros recently died after around a decade. Got myself a viper ultimate recently. Glad mice have come a long way ( although, I do miss my buttons and adjustable ergo) :)
Still using my Razer Ouroboros that came out the year after the R.A.T. It was definitely not a $25 mouse when it came out ;) magnetic interchangeable left and right panels (I use the thumb rest and just a flat pinky-side panel), lenght adjustable via a dial at the back. Wireless or wired (wireless has a charging/wireless dock) and uses standard AA rechargeable battery inside if you're going wireless. Love this mouse. :)
Mad catz still makes mice like these and new ones as well to this day and they are supposedly light for their design. Would like to see you go over them
A few years ago I bought an old Mad Catz R.A.T. TE for shits and giggles, because it cost like 15 bucks and now it's actually my favorite mouse. The only issue I do have, is an unfortunately placed lever to unlook the back panel, so I tend to push it forwards by accident. It's kinda funny, considering I own a small colection of highly sophisticated and optimised mice and my "daily driver" is a tiny light weight plastic panel collection meant for short e-sports events.
I had a Mad Catz RAT 5 and it was the best mouse I ever had for under €50. In fact, I prefered that mouse over any other mouse I ever had, if only the cable hadn't been annoying.

I recently stumbled upon my old RAT 9. I decided to try it out again. I don't miss it. The customization didn't really do anything for the comfort either, but that's down to the mouse, not the adjustability concept.
I owned Mad Catz mouse and Oh man..you could customize the mouse in every way...weight,plastic/rubber grip,prolong/shorten it...raise the back or lower it..tbh i loved it 🤷♂️
The light small mouse trend is directly opposite to what I want. I have a Microsoft wireless mouse. It's heavy, on the large side, little to no lag and only 3 buttons. It's perfect.
IMO, the G502 and G903 are the best examples of modern mice that still have some sort of resemblance to the Catz mouse. And also, IMO, the G502 and G903 are the best mice ever
bro still rocking my Mad Catz rat 3.0 from like 2011, no problems at all with it and it is customizable and u can change the size of it aswell so no problems when i was growing up n stuff
I have been really enjoying the ASMR approach and appreciate the work being put into this high quality content! If Dmitry ever decides to start an ASMR channel I'd definitely check it out. I know it's not likely, as I'm sure this channel doesn't leave a lot of extra minutes in the day, so for now I'll try to be content watching old Ducky keyboard vods, lol.
Your headshot looks sooo cinematic. Did you add a diffusion filter? The highlights kinda make me think that. Not sure if I like the regular headshot lighting or this one. Because it feels much more EPIC than it should feel when talking about a mouse in a conventional way. Maybe use that type of lighting when you make those really creative short epic broll sequences? Like with the Razer Huntsman ad? Idk. I love the lighting Dimitri, love the content, the everything, love from Mexico!
Holy shit. I used to have a RAT 7 back in the day, even had it replaced after 5 years when it stopped working. When that one stopped working, MAD CATZ had filed bankruptcy. About to order a new one.
Should review more cases from your ads that havent been covered. I have to agree though adjust ability, costumisation + proper comfortable shape makes a great mouse
My R.A.T 9 died last year, it was very heavy, less than a day of battery but for someone with large hands and a full palm grip, it was the most confortable mouse ever, I now have a Logitech 502 lightspeed, it's nice, better battery but damn I miss that pinky rest
Used to have a R.A.T. 7, used it until the vertical started dying (horizontal was still fine.) I actually just picked myself up a R.A.T. 8+ last week and I'm loving it! I really didn't realize how much I missed my R.A.T.

how do you get the videos to looks so good, the lighting the grading the colours its sooo artistic and clean literally actual art awesome job
i have huge hands and i hate how all mice are small and lightweight. right now i use the roccat aimo but it still feels too small.
Try the roccat Tyon. It’s a fairly large mouse with a ton of very convenient buttons. Mine has served me well for the past several years. I personally thought the buttons would get in the way but it’s shockingly efficient. No other mouse has checked as many of my boxes 👌👌
@@DellSnooze its weird because some pages say they are the same dimensions and weight and some say the tyon is bigger, do you have both?
@@BrickTamlandOfficial Sadly I don’t own the aimo but I’m 99% sure the Tyon is bigger, at least in the rear.
@@DellSnooze Love my Tyon, but the R.A.T. 7 MMO was better in terms of button layout.
This is what happens when Michael Bay makes a mouse.

Friction only depends on weight, not surface area, so an extra pad does not add friction, only distributes it differently
It’s weird because when I play games, I like to claw grip, but when I edit pictures, watch videos or anything else I like to palm, so I feel like the adjustability would be great
I used to own this one many years ago when Diablo 3 first came out. Loved it for the weight and pinky attachments.
The editing is insane!
I still use RAT mice, I can't find any mouse as comfortable as these are for me. The adjustable back is what really makes it hard for me to find another mouse i like. I have the RAT 8 and i love it!
My best FPS days was with the R.A.T. 7 by Madcatz! Amazing how this is already nostalgic
I was doing homework but I was like "nah, there's a Canucks video out".
wow same bro
Same 😂😂😀😀😍😎🤓😫😛

You should know that new MAD Catz mouses are still coming out to the consumer market 🤔😉
@@TheObsesedAnimeFreaks agreed that's why now I own a corsair dark core for the same features but 5 years later 🤣
I just made an upgrade to my hardware and put my Mad Catz Rat3 to rest and bought the Rat 8+. And I still love it way better than all razer mice I tested
I still use the OG Mad Catz R.A.T 9 Wireless. Still have the original box with all the addons. Im loving it!
I like it, it allows airflow to your palm. I get dry hands, and i also like the size changability
the mmo7 was my best mouse for mmos.
as a r1 wow player i had over 60 keybinds. this wqs such a blessing
Reminds me of one of my first gaming mice, the MadCatz M.M.O. 7
At the time it was one of the most expensive mice out there (€90 or $100, unlike your $250 mice these days) and I loved it.
Too bad the company went bankrupt.
@Christie Malry Not really. The brand exists again, but under a different company.
@Christie Malry No MMO mouse in sight though.
i would pay 500 for the mmo7 now.. it was golden
i know madcatz has brought back some of the rat mice but theyre not as modular as they used to be and that makes me sad, i loved the rat 7
This style of mouse always reminded me of like the Terminator T-800 endoskeletons.
Used a rat 6 for years, then a rat 6+... Still more comfortable than my current Glorious D
I am still using mine everyday. This thing is a hunk of junk
Gonna have to hang my head in shame.. I've really been wanting to get the white and gold version of this mouse for the last few months. I KNOW it's terrible, and I KNOW I'll never use it, but it's just so PRETTY!!
Man.. I love the camera quality and light

Should it ever move on to the great eternal beyond, my next one will also be a RAT, as the original engineers behind it reformed as a new company a few years ago and are, once again, building RATs
Any other devoted RAT owners out there?
Still using Mad catz mices. Bought myself the Rat pro x3 and was never happier.
I love the cinematic aspects of your videos!
I really wanna see this dude edit a movie or action clip...the intro was just....SHEESHH
OMG that opening broll is mesmerizing ❤️
Thanks thanks 🙏

Mad catz still makes mice like these and new ones as well to this day and they are supposedly light for their design. Would like to see you go over them
I don't know about this particular mouse, but I loved my R.A.T. 7 five years ago
I always loved the Mad Catz Rat mice! Miss those :)
They're still being sold! A new company took over, in my experience the quality hasn't dropped but even improved.
There are lightweight options for the R.A.T mice now, some of them have plastic chassis, instead of aluminium chassis.

The rat's pinky tray was awesome. Wish other brands would copy it
Heavy throwback to the amazing Mad Catz mice - love em, miss em!
This looks amazing, I've been looking for heavier mouse as other current ones I have tried are way too light.
Yeah, they didn’t really work on the basics, before proceeding to add all the customization. I wish it was the other way around.
-D.
I owned Mad Catz mouse and Oh man..you could customize the mouse in every way...weight,plastic/rubber grip,prolong/shorten it...raise the back or lower it..tbh i loved it 🤷♂️
There's probably something wrong with me but I absolutely love the design of this
The light small mouse trend is directly opposite to what I want. I have a Microsoft wireless mouse. It's heavy, on the large side, little to no lag and only 3 buttons. It's perfect.
Mad Catz still exists and builds them. i have the R.A.T 8+ V2 and X3 Pro Seupreme, best i ever had and soooo comfortable
I have the Trust Xray, practically the same design with some nifty software.
Absolutely love it!!!
I still use my mad catz MMO te mouse which is based on their R.A.T. design, but has 15 buttons on the side and a few others on the top.
The best mouse ever in my opinion. It's a shame about the build quality though.
I agree I still love this design and still have my R.A.T 7 and R.A.T 3 for that very same reason despite using MM720 for gaming
now im on logitech peripherals.. but years before i had always used "mad catz cytek cyborg".. so new and unique in that time. loved them.
IMO, the G502 and G903 are the best examples of modern mice that still have some sort of resemblance to the Catz mouse. And also, IMO, the G502 and G903 are the best mice ever
Had one of these years ago, and it barely lasted a year before literally falling apart. Total JUNK!!
This takes me back and I feel very old now
Madcatz is still here in 2021 and making great mice in this style.
bro still rocking my Mad Catz rat 3.0 from like 2011, no problems at all with it and it is customizable and u can change the size of it aswell so no problems when i was growing up n stuff
Your editing is amazing man, hands down to your camera shots
Thanks thanks 🙏
Am I the only person that hates the mice with all the hexagonal cutouts?
No you are right. They look dumb. And I am sure they are a nightmare to clean.
@@TheJayRipper exactly. That's the main reason I won't buy them no matter how good the performance is.

My R.A.T 9 died last year, it was very heavy, less than a day of battery but for someone with large hands and a full palm grip, it was the most confortable mouse ever, I now have a Logitech 502 lightspeed, it's nice, better battery but damn I miss that pinky rest
RAT is still alive, could you review the new RAT DWS wireless?
You should review the "high performance gaming mouse" at my local CVS.
Used to have a R.A.T. 7, used it until the vertical started dying (horizontal was still fine.) I actually just picked myself up a R.A.T. 8+ last week and I'm loving it! I really didn't realize how much I missed my R.A.T.
