I dug his voice much also. Definitely one of the most beloved singers in music history. He and other great singers paved the way for future great singers. A true pioneer!!! God rest his soul!!!

Buddy Holly was one of the early pioneers of 50's rock & roll. His style was influenced by gospel music, country music, and rhythm & blues acts. He wrote a lot of songs during his short life. "Oh, Boy!", "Not Fade Away", "Rave On", "It's So Easy", "True Love Ways" etc. He was only 22 when he died in a plane crash along with Ritchie Valens & The Big Bopper. This tragedy was later referred to by Don McLean as "The Day the Music Died" in his song "American Pie".

I wish someone would react to Early in the Morning by Buddy Holly. Most reactors only listen to his slower songs. He has some real upbeat rock and roll songs as well. Rave On and Oh Boy are a couple more that got people on the dance floor.

The Beatles did a lovely cover of Buddy's "Words of Love". Those with such great potential always seem to die way too young.
