In case you didn't know, this was a 12 hour benefit concert. Each band had a 20 minute set. It just happened to be that Queen's set was the best and no one wanted to follow them!
The benefit was to raise money for starving people in Africa. It was on 2 continents: Philadelphia PA (USA) and London England. 1 billion watched all over the world.

"Born in 1946 in Zanzibar to Parsi-Indian parents, Mercury attended English boarding schools in India from the age of eight and returned to Zanzibar after secondary school. In 1964, his family fled the Zanzibar Revolution, moving to Middlesex, England. Having previously studied and written music, he formed Queen in 1970 with guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor."

Live Aid was a charity concert for Ethiopia and was on both sides of the Atlantic (London and Philadephia)..the best artists of the day had about 25 mins each for their set. Queen, although reasonably popular at the time just took it to another level with this performance and in 25 mins they acheived legendary status!

Concert for George is truly worth a look at. The first 45 minutes is Indian Music as George a member of The Beatles had a lot of music influence from India.
From then you get Monty Python sketches on stage. The rest of the concert is Eric Clapton, Geoff Lynne, Ringo, Paul Mcartney , Joe Brown. Billy Preston, Danni Harrison Tom Petty and others singing most of George Harrison songs. A truly great tribute. So much content it wont fit on one revue.

May i suggest you react to a Jean Michel Jarre concert. Jarre a French electronic music composer and performer plays city's rather than stadiums. Its not unheard of for more than 3.5 million people to attend a show with 75 million watching live on TV and the internet. Astronauts on board the space station have been know to watch and join in the show live (Moscow) Even the Pope has been a support act lol.
Jarre's performances are known not only for the fantasic music but also the visual spectacle. Fireworks, lights, lasers and skyscrapers being used as huge screens etc.
Some you might want to consider are (in no particular order) ...
Jean Michel Jarre live in Cairo Egypt The Twelve Dreams of the sun 1080 HD full screen repack
That was his show Millennium eve at the pyramids.
Oxygen in Moscow (full video) - Jean Michel Jarre
Jean Michel Jarre live in Gdansk [complete concert, best quality available]
    Ect,ect.
Theres so many i could never pick a favourite, there all so different.

A few facts, Freddy was ill with a cold during the performance, he wouldn’t perform unless he got the 7pm slot, Pepsi payed £500,000 for product placement, LEVIS offered him £50,000 he wanted £100,000 they refused so he sent his assistant to buy Wrangler jeans an hour before he went on stage and wore them for free!! It was Wranglers most successful year ❤😂

    • @ChristopherMahony370
      @ChristopherMahony370 5 месяцев назад

@gmdhargreaves @JeanneCulligan I'm not sure where you got this information from, but, apart from Freddie having a throat infection and being advised to not perform by his doctor, nothing else is true. Firstly, in response to your statement about Freddie asking for money for product placement, Freddie himself, in an interview, said the band never took any money for product placement. Advertising products on stage (although some bands/artists had started to do it) was not really a big thing in the UK back then. Also, this was the LIVE-AID charity concert, and Queen was just one of the bands playing, so if product placement had been agreed to, it would have been agreed by the Live-Aid Organisers, and they may have agreed to place products in return for donations to the Live-Aid Charity.
As for Levi jeans versus Wrangler jeans, Freddie always wore Wrangler jeans, as stated by his personal assistant, who, before every tour/performance, had to stock up on Freddie's favourite stage clothing and bought bulk numbers of Freddie's favourite Wrangler jeans and also a number of pairs of Freddie's favourite Adidas Boxing boots. After the Live-Aid concert, the sales in Wrangler Jeans and Adidas did soar, but that was because many of the new fans that Queen's epic, show-stealing performance had produced, were all wanting to dress like Freddie.
Finally, there are two versions of how each band in Live-aid were given their slots. The first, which I think came from Bob Geldof himself, was that everyone was given a time slot and Queen, as late-comers to the Concert, were allocated the 18:40 time slot. The second version was that bands could put in a request for a specific time slot, but that these requests were not guaranteed. If the time slots were allocated in this way, most of the slots, especially those perceived to be the best time slots, were taken by the time Queen had said they would perform. According to this version, there were very few slots left for Queen to select from, and no one wanted to do the 18:40 pm time slot because it would be during this time slot that the Wembley Concert went live with the Phillidelphia Concert in the US, and bands and their agents were afraid of the technical difficulties that may occur during that initial cross-over, so Queen were asked if they would please consider doing the 18:40 cross-over slot. Queen agreed to take this time slot, because they realised that although much could go wrong, it could also go very right, and it was this decision that ended up actually benefiting Queen enormously, because the whole world got to see the most EPIC, and Greatest Live Performance Of All Time.

Freddie had a bad throat and was told not to perform by a doctor. However, Queen did and they smashed it. Apparently he said it was like gargling with glass. All the acts had a 15-20 minute slot and if they went over they were cut off. They did the most songs of any act and Queen finished exactly on time. Freddie was the best frontman ever and the rest of the band are great too. All of them have degrees.

If you're looking for other songs to react to, I would recommend a live version of Depeche Mode's NEVER LET ME DOWN AGAIN. The crowd participation near the end of the song is right up there with this crowd!

If you like great British bands doing live concerts then I suggest Pink Floyd, Comfortably numb, from the Pulse concert. watch the remastered version.
It will blow your brains out.

He was Parsi his lineage was Persian. His parents came from what was then Bombay but the Parsi community rarely if ever married out of that community. He was born in Zanzibar because his dad had work there.

If memory serves me this was luck because this was not part of the regular tv recording. Someone who worked the show was wise to keep it. If you buy the official video it is not included.
Fun side notes: Phil Collins did the day show with Genesis in England, then took the Concord and did his solo act in Philadelphia, US for the evening show.
Freddy was sick and wasn't sure how his voice would be for the show.
Bob Geldof, the organizer of the benefit concert, thought Queen were rock dinosaurs. He almost kept Queen out of the concert like he did The Kinks. That is a crime that no one brings up. The Kinks were legends and were kept out.
David Bowie had to follow Queen. You know you had a great performance when you overshadow EVERYONE, including a legend like David Bowie.

Question, why do you always cut off the bottom of the video in your reactions? We can only see Freddie from the chest and sometimes only his face. We can't see the crowd because you cut it off.

There is a song that is missing it was at teh end of the concert ruclips.net/video/riwDo7_GxjM/видео.html, the rest of the band was great during a crazy thing called love, a tribute to Elvis Brian May played three different Guitars including one he and his dad played, his amplifier was built by John Deacon, and Roger Taylor had a great voice
