Yeah, I was surprised over that fact, I don't feel like introverts are more focused just because they're more withdrawn and listen more etc. It varies from person to person in my opinion. :)
@@theaxo_ If you meant to ask me, I am still very much introverted and easily distracted, though I am no longer 13 and incapable of spelling "introverted".
Thanks for posting this. I always wanted to develop my leadership skills, but I always figured being a leader was more for extroverts. This made me realize that I have my own skills to work with to develop my leadership skills.
I think people confuse introverts with shy people, introverts enjoy doing solo tasks like reading, hiking etc all activities they can enjoy alone. Introverts don't fear group/social tasks merely prefer being quite and alone whereas shy people do fear those interactions.
yes all though, Introverts are people that DO NOT get energy from people (that doesn't mean that they don't like to be with people, they just like to hangout in smaller groups,one-on-one interactions etc. but then again they like spend time alone to re-energize), and extroverts are people that DO GET energy from people, and when they're alone for too long they start to feel down and lonely . nothing more nothing less
you are wrong and unclear ! shy people don't fear other people , they don't feet confortable when they are with other people. introverts are mostly shy people cuz they don't quickly like to show their emotions and are less social and what brought you into this thought cuz you say you think it but you don't say why.. maybe because a lot of people comment that they are introverts, so your comment is a general answer on all the other comments and you think they are just shy, shy and extrovert.. so they are people who like being with other people and social but feel anxiety when they are with them, it doesn't makes a lot of sense. So my conclusion is weird, do u think if u would ask an introvert, he would rather be in a closed room, like a jail all alone?
Seth Williams energy yh of course.. do u live in pokemon or something like that? I know I get my energy by resting or when I eat. of course I'll not blame cuz I think i know what u mean u but seriously energy.. I would rather use motivation than energy. extroverts people be more motivated when they are on their are in group and introverts like to work alone but i do think that introverts also can be motivated by other people. and yh introvert rather like working alone but that alone is not physically alone like working apart in another room it means more be mentally on his own while doing his work.
Thanks Wellcast for helping me realize I can make a difference in the world, instead of thinking I will be drowned out, consumed in an extrovert's domain. (:

That was kinda a bit biased and just based on stereotypes, no offense. This is exactly why I dislike just breaking the MBTI types down into letters, as opposed to COGNITIVE FUNCTIONS. You can't just say "Extroverts are like this and Introverts like that", because it's not how it is. It really depends on the functions a person uses, e.g. Se, Ne etc. Wish you guys would promote that a bit more, as opposed to keep having people think that it's all about 2 letters (Either E or I, for example). ._.
Are you psychologist? You are who does not know what are you talking about and you want to brag to smart. I take a course on Myers Briggs personality type and I think I'm better prepared than you to say that the best way to understand this is by dividing it by parties. Here and in China the introverted and extroverted have certain qualities and are the same no matter where they are. And that is independent of cognitive functions. Don’t matter if you are introverted feeling or extroverted feeling, introverted thinking or extroverted thinking, ect. Introvert will be introvert and extrovert will be extrovert. One think don’t have nothing to do with the other. In addition you are so smart that you had no idea of what is the purpose of this video. The purpose of this video is the clarification of the myth that the introverts are not good leaders. I recommend that you stop talking of things that you do not understand.
I am not here to brag or act like "I know better than anybody". That was my personal opinion based on the experiences and studies I have made. I am absolutely aware that this video is to disprove that "introverts are bad leaders", but the Cognitive Functions tie into that, because you can't just say "Introverts are worse leaders", just as much as you can't say that "introverts are better (or equal) leaders". What I am saying is that there is MORE to whether somebody is a good leader or not than just "I am an extrovert" or "I am an introvert" and that MBTI tests are way more accurate if people use Cognitive Functions, as opposed to just the "letters". To make it more practical, this video was a bit like saying "Girls are just as good at X than guys". It's just too general and it doesn't include things like (in this example) age, where somebody lives etc. This is why the video would be more accurate if they would have talked about - for example - Ne (Extroverted iNtuition), which has a tendency to - as she mentioned in the video - make people more "flaky" and "unconcentrated". It's the single functions broken down that do certain things, not simply just "being an extrovert". That was my whole point and I wasn't being mean, disrespectful or a smartass. Since you DID ask for my credentials, I have been part of a big MBTI forum staff / leadership for years, written a whole bunch of articles and also guided / counseled people for a good decade now on this very topic. I have done my studies, but even then, I never claimed that "I know better than anybody" or that this is "all wrong" per se. I only said that the use of letters only is less accurate and too much of generalizing. The addition of Cognitive Functions would have provided extra scientifical data to back certain things up, is all. =3
I understand your point of view on if one knows about cognitive functions you can better understand if someone has better capabilities to be a leader or not. However, what you don't understand is that this is irrelevant with the purpose of this video. Many people think that the extroverts tend to be better leaders than introverted. This video seeks to clarify that an introverted has the same possibilities that a extrovert of be a good leader. This video is making a comparison between introverted and extroverted and their skills to be leaders. No need to talk about the Cognitive functions because this is irrelevant in this case. Any ways, that a person has certain cognitive functions nor does it guarantee that that person can be a good leader. It is like to think that all NT are geniuses. It is true that many geniuses are NT, but because one person is NT does not guarantee that person will be a genius. This video also explains the qualities that have an introverted that might assist them in being a good leader. At no time did the video it says they are going to be a good leader simply because they are an introvert. You are who is complicating this. And my explanation for this is the one I mentioned at the beginning. Your intention is only boast that you know. Ok, perhaps you know about it but ... What has that to do with making people understand that an introverted has the same opportunities that a extrovert of be a leader?
I am not "boasting" about anything, honestly (What good would that do? o_oa). I understand the point of this video more than well. However, the reason I am bringing up the Cognitive Functions is to say that "even Extroverts can be shitty leaders" and that - as I said - it doesn't matter what letters you have. It matters what your brain works like (which is indicated by the functions more so than the letters). That is why I brought it up in the first place. Basically, it would be nice if people would mention the CFs more than the letters, because those don't tell you much. I have met Extroverts who were shitty leaders before and also Introverts who were good ones. Just as I have met Extroverts that were more to themselves and Introverts that were more "out there". Same goes for "Thinker VS Feeler", "iNtuitive VS Sensor" and "Perceiver VS Judger". The letters don't tell you a lot by themselves and people who are new to MBTI would profit more if they would be taught the CF system, because it will make for more accurate typing (for one) and also not make them feel like "something is wrong with them" or "they are bad at something" only because they have a specific letter or not. I've seen a LOT of people question themselves allover, just because they didn't fit the stereotype of "their letters". That is where I am coming from here. People new to the system would benefit from having it explained "in full" to them.
Elias Perez I don't really see how she is boasting. She is just speaking in terms of what she knows and how she learned it, no different than someone saying, "The letter "B" comes after the letter "A" in the Alphabet." If she were "boasting" about it, she would be saying, "It's like this because this! I know because ZOMG! IM THE GREATEST AND SMARTEST!"
What if I am both an introvert and an extrovert? Introvert: I am very focused on my work at school, I sit alone sometimes thinking about things, I feel as if everybody thinks that problems are solved by Rock Paper Scissors, I like to think about both sides of a story. Extrovert: I love to TALK, I am very dependent for friends, I love being in a group rather than being alone, I like to talk things out to people. I am sometimes bias towards a side (depending on the situation).
Great video, thanks. I'd also like to add for those who find this binary "labeling system" as some put it, restrictive, Introversion and Extroversion are widely recognized by professionals as the ends of a scale along which a person will move back and forth within a unique (to them) range in response to a variety of changing factors. Nobody in the field sees it as a one-or-the-other static box.
I have often been told I am an introvert b/c I am very quite and little shy. Even thou introvert do have very good quality for leadership as mentioned. So do extroverts and I think this video should have pointed out a few of those too. Also don't just say that introverts can focus better b/c I don't stay focus at all when it is busy and noise around me.
I am an introvert. This video have shown only advantages of being an introvert. But there are many disadvantages too... Introvert react slowly to external stimuli .....like even when they are asked even basic Question , they take time to respond. They may take more time to cross a busy road than extrovert.
There are disadvantages of being introvert like there are disadvantages of being extrovert but that's not the goal of the video, the goal of the video is more to show that introvert people are better at leading than extrovert. And btw the you're wrong cuz they speak disadvantages of introverts which are in leadership advantages. you say introvert react slowly to external stimuli,... yh maybe slower than extrovert for the only reason that they are showing less emotions and are less social and socialize is all external stimuli and even this makes that they are a better leader cuz extrovert will be less fast distracted and focus more on their work. Introvert mostly check the different possibilities while extrovert will stay on their opinion. So yh in most way introvert will react more slower but their reaction will be better. I think the goal of the video is to show that if you to choose a good leader for exemple, a team activity, you should rather use the introvert one with a more closed character cuz I don't know, I think you already made a group activity and to be honest, it's mostly the really social and extravert one who play the leader and this video shows actually that listen to the extrovert one person as a leader is a wrong choice, you should rather choose the introvert to lead the team right. yh btw I understand why you want to show the disadvantages now, i'm also more introvert and some people write now in the comments "i'm introvert" after watching this video, and i'm almost sure, like you, that they are extrovert. this kind of people are really egoistic cuz in their daily life they are the kind of really social people, speaking a lot in the group and who would without any embarrasement would keep the introverts in the shadow and now this video shows that leading which is an important role in a group is better for introverts, now they are magically introverts.

I don't like the pigeon holeing into introvert extrovert . Sometimes I get energy from the room . Sometimes i get exhausted from it . We are all a spectrum of colour . This is far more healthy than just 16 personality types. It doesn't help to know what you are . Just be yourself. Express yourself in context and Love and you will get on well.
