Check out our T-shirt Shop: bit.ly/3z98ryF Images of what's on the shirts we've designed: bit.ly/3vBCwnF A few months ago we spotted our 1st 1834 flex-head impact wrench on Instagram, since then each time we went to buy it, it's been out of stock. So when we heard Matco's was coming out, we called dibs to perform the testing you see here today on the MT2612 Dual Flex impact Wrench. - Авто/Мото
*Good **MyBest.Tools** value compaired❣🤪😀🤪😊 to other brands*
Missed opportunity with the thumbnail. Could have made it "Weird flex, but okay". :D
Lol, done. You've now opted into our thumbnail consulting think tank, welcome!
@@TorqueTestChannel this mans made me click on this video 😂
You cheeky man. I saw what you did with the two finger test on the graph picture😂😂
Got 'em!
But was the pinky out also?
👀 only a 2-3% loss when bent at 90 degrees, that’s impressive.. I thought for sure it would lose more than that
I think that had more to do with the reduced inertia from the smaller radius than actual tool performance. I bet the mechanism made the same power in both runs.
@@Lucas12v yeah. Makes you wonder what an actual fixed-handle version of the flex-head tool would make. It would have to be cheaper plus more power, right?
the air goes through a double 90 either way?
@@wim0104 i don't think articulating it makes a power difference other than changing its moment of inertia but if they made a fixed version, they could probably make it flow more air by eliminating the swivel which would presumably give it more power.
@@omaristephens2143 ASTRO makes it. You can get it on Amazon for $140 instead of the $350 matco wants
Astro tools is making what looks like exactly same flex impact for $140👍👍
Same power too, I think.
yep that is what i paid last night. can't wait to get it
@@narcissistinjurygiver2932 I've got one, it's great, minus the exhaust blasting me in the face.
@@worsttintentions That's what she said.
@@worsttintentions I can’t tell you how many times I’ve oil that tool up and go to use it, and then BLAST myself in the face with the oil from the exhaust port… it’s little things like that why I just wear safety glasses 24/7 at this point 😂
I like the way the video was structured and hope the channel grows good job man
Hey thanks!
Astro nano flex vs matco flex. Both claim 400 ft lbs but price is definitely more attractive on astro nano flex. Would love to see a comparison between those.
Astro probably makes it for Matco. But yeah I was thinking a video comparing the two would be interesting.
It is the same tool. Just different colors. I have the Astro. It’s amazing. Buy it right away.
I actually own the Astro version and emailed the channel asking if they wanted to test it… they emailed me back and confirmed it’s the same tool, the Mac version is just a re branded Astro
Another great video.
Definitely the most underrated channel on YT .
Saving from knuckle busting is right, no pun intended. The first time I changed a bearing on my ATV my knuckles looked like I was hitting bricks. I promptly got a right angle air impact after that job.
*Hint: Astro Pneumatic makes the Matco flex head, and can be had for CONSIDERABLY LESS when bought through their website or Amazon
Further edit, remove that little scuff pad of a muffler and the impact SCREAMS
Yeah whenever I tell folks this they still go to tool truck. Only reason I figure is because of monthly payments
@@markarmstrong3394I’ve never bought off the Matco truck because I would hate knowing I could have paid 50% less for the exact same tool.
Nice! Thanks for reviewing this one!
Great tear down you guys
Pull the scuff pad muffler out of the tool at the exhaust port I have the Astro it was weak until I pulled the exhaust “muffler “ out then retest it thanks
Astro doesn't have it listed on its site anymore. Hmm
Enough! Please do a proper scientific test to show that grunting like Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor really makes a difference. I'm convinced it does!
At my shop we do the confused sound Tim makes all the time. Uhhhh!
If you're not grunting it's not torqued properly.
I bought the Astro version 1/2 Flex impact when it came out and really am happy with it as it really helps out when you have to get it in there it usually does and way less cost than the matco labeled tool.
I bought that Astro Right Angle thanks to your channel. That thing does some great work and I couldn't be happier. Thanks TTC!
We're still using the 1832 very often!
Astro tools is the parent company that matco gets most of their pneumatic tools from. I’ve bought multiple tools from Astro and their quality to price ratio is outstanding as this channel shows. And when it comes to the Astro flex head 1/2” impact wrench it’s one of the most versatile tools in my toolbox.
I love My Astro comes in very handy for a lot in Auto repair very good tool!
Nice graphic on the 2 finger test chart!!
You guys are awesome. Great content. It'd be great if you could find a way to test the accuracy of various brands of torque sticks I think that would be a great video.
They did that already
I would guess between patents and tooling most of these mainly same parts with minor tweaks, the 2 port motor has a patent and taiwan manufacturers seem share designs/tooling and certainly share foundries and finishers in manufacture process . even when not patent restrictions others may use existing model if good concept and add a few tweaks as cheaper than tooling from scratch .
The compact flex head is a great new game changing air tool in the shop and more so if can get 300+ out of them .
saves a lot of physical fatigue in tricky spaces .
Excellent project. I liked it ! My idol !
The flex head was one of those tools I bought from Matco. I'm very excited to do so. I have yet to find any real practical usage for it, but at least it's there 😂
I just ordered this can't wait to get it in I wish it was in a different color I did not even think to ask I love my matco 1/2 air impact thing is a beast
Nice work!
I know you did a video on the matco flex head already but it would really interesting to see a comparison of all the different flex heads, I know astro, Capri, and hazet all sell them and they all look so similar (excepting the hazet) I'd really like to see if the premium is worth it or if my astro was the best bang for the buck.
Not the angle of the dangle, it's the motion of the ocean...
But it’s really hard to get to England in a canoe.
That astro pneumatic in red looks good!
Have you guy thought about testing any of the porter cable torque wrench’s both corded and cordless they are extremely reasonably priced.
Let’s see the Astro nano flex head 1/2”!!!! Just bought one and love it, need to see how it compares!
Same tool :p
I have the Astro labeled one, love it.
Me too can't wait til they make a 3/8 and 1/4 version of it 👍
i just bought astro too. cant wait to get it
@@narcissistinjurygiver2932 It kicks ass you'll love it.
Woah it's almost like the Harbour Freight is made in the same factory as the Matco! 😲🤔🤫
Looks like HF Earthquake 57537 right angle impact is the same as the Matco 2512, and the Astro 1834 right angle flex impact is the same as the Matco 2612. But just because 2 things are made by the same OEM doesn't mean much besides the fact that you can have them make you a tool cheaper than designing one from the ground up. You would specify things like materials used, heat treat, machining tolerances, surface finish, etc. One could have silicone orings, plastic seals, lower quality cast aluminum housing, MIM/PMM parts (not necessarily inferior), ABS plastic parts, and loser tolerances. While another one could have Viton or Buna-N orings, phenolic seals, forged or billet CNC aluminum housing, made with better quality aluminum, with a better heat treat, temper, and aging, forged components instead of MIM/PMM, nylon plastic parts, ported & polished air passages, and tighter tolerances. The latter version could cost 50-100% more, produce more power, and last longer.
Do you have a pneumatic automatic oiler? It would be cool to see air pressure!
Surprised there is no cordless version yet with a brushless motor nestled the same way in the head like that. Pretty genius adding a second thrust chamber in the same space like they did. Clearly its not related at all to the straight handle version! Nice video for sure!
Who would have thought that the flex would have more beans and the hf similarity at that price? 👍
Have you tested the Chicago pneumatic and the Cornwell? If not you should .
Have you ever done a test on the MAC AWP050? I’ve owned mine for around 6 years and always wondered what the true power numbers were.
Please review cornwells new flex head impact, they have there own design for the flex part. Very curious
Can we get a reference on some of these numbers. How many beans do I need to use in order to put down a grade 8 bolt and bend the tab on something I've welded or to really squish a washer down? How many beans to snap a grade 8 even. That way we know when we're looking at for these numbers ?
Any plans for an astro 1834?
Nice video 👍
I just picked up the Astro 1834, and it seems to be literally the same thing but in black and blue, but the price is much more wallet friendly.
I was going to send you my ingersoll rand w7152 for testing but Standard cheapest shipping was 70 bucks for 10days
I have the Astro Pneumatic version and the flex helps with removing brake caliper bolts in tight spots.
Do you want to try my Air Boss AW140-P? I was working on a Isuzu Journey small bus today and it pulled the wheel nuts off.
Can you please review the ASTRO 1834 flex head.
I have a stubby 1/2” from Capri I’d love for you guys to test, let me know if I can send it in to you guys!
Is this just a rebranded astro? They look very similar and just about same specs
Hey i noticed there is no difference between the astro flex head impact and the matco impact. Everything is the same down to the design of the handle. Do you know if astro makes the matco impact? And maybe possibly picking one up and do a comparison video
I'd love to know this as well. I've got the Astro Flex-Head, and this thing looks identical.
It is, matco doesn’t make tools!
Flex belongs in this category but really as an disadvantage for power and price so extra points for winning there 😅
Actually want the flex one now 🤔
Would like to see Milwaukee d handle 1" extended anvil vs ingersoll w9691 1" d handle extended anvil.
i just bought the Astro last night
I know that you already said you were coming to an end with the high-end battery impacts, but were you planning to Test the Metabo HPT 36V impact wrench? I know that it's a bit of a smaller brand, but it's the only tool within lowes/Home depot that you haven't tested (I think, don't quote me on that), and I was wondering since you said you were finished with high end battery for a little while.
When we pick high torques back up (not too far away) we'll include Metabo!
Now we have to see how the new 1833 from Astro Stacks up!
You got me with that loose thumbnail 😂😂
Would be cool if you could test out the dewalt air impact wrenches and ratchet
Is this just the Astro one rebranded?
I did not know so many of these right angle impacts existed. I've only ever seen the Astro and never gave it much consideration.
Maybe you should try running impacts until they stop making power
Can you test the Astro Nano flex and the non-flex Nano? I've been looking at purchasing but very mixed reviews....THANKS!!!
The AP flex is the same tool. They make it. The non flex head we have a video on. Its currently ranked #1
Test out astro 1833 3/8flex head air ratchet
Can you try the Astro 1834? Thanks
It's virtually identical to the Matco flex head in the video, actually. I can confirm, I had mine apart.
I’d like to see a video where you just let the tools run for like a whole minute to see if they would completely table top out at a certain point or if they would just keep going up even if it was by like a ft-lb a second. Idk I just haven’t seen anyone do a video like that. And I’m just curious to see what happens with the torque output with enough time.
Or if someone would like to tell me what happens. I’ll accept their input. I’m not a professional in that field of things. It’s just me being curious about it.
Is that thing really lower profile (better access and clearance) than an Onyx right angle impact? Definitely not beating the Milwaukee M12 right angle for clearance.
Yeah, but only by 1/8" or so. The head IS wider though. The flex head action is hard to ignore the benefits of as well
I've got the hazet pancake Flexi head an man it packs a punch I'd like to see on this channel
You’re awesome
You guys should test off brand batteries, for like milwaukee and maybe see about battery converts for milwaukee to ridged, ryobi etc
Off brand batteries are horrible. They are all garbage. If you're looking for a cheaper alternative, check out battery pack rebuilder dot com. They end up being about half the price of new, after you pay for the rebuild and shipping your old battery ane your charger to them.
I would love to see a comparison between this, the astro, the capri, the hazet, and any others. See which one has the most power
They are all the same tool, except for the 3/8" which is just same under Astro & Matco
@@TorqueTestChannel interesting, I just wasn't sure if there was a power difference because I saw a video where a guy got the astro (not a comparison to the other tools, just the astro by itself) and he was pretty frustrated with its lack of power (definitely seemed like it was much lower numbers than the matco in this video) but if it's the same tool, I guess he must've had an issue with his air supply or something. These videos are amazing though. Thank you.
Soooo . What I'm hearing you say is that I NEED TO BUY ONE...hmmmm
PLEASE TEST THE MILWAUKEE M12 RIGHT ANGLE CORDLESS IMPACTS
1:58
Wow, impressive. Now we just need Harbor freight or Astro to find the oem 😁
Astro makes this
How much you want to bet Astro Pnumatic can't keep their flex head in stock is because a certain tool truck brand keeps buying them up and rebranding them
It’s been a year since this your only video on the flex head inpact wrench. When do you plan on doing any other flex head impact wrench videos?
They are all the same. AP and Matco having the 3/8" same power as 1/2"
Okay can you do me a favor and get the Astro Tools 1834 and compare both of them ? I’m on a budget lol I appreciate it so much
Same tool
@@TorqueTestChannel it sure looked the same , thank you ! Your channels great
Matco make this thing with a remote trigger, it could be the size of a palm nailer.
Test the Astro flex head
Are you the same guy as the guy who used to do the “Casually Explained” videos?
It would be interesting to see how the ASTRO PHEUMATIC 1834 stacks up against this.
Huh, I see in the comments below that Astro makes this tool for Matco...
Also Astro has that Model
How do I send you $64 for the cheapest 3/4 air impact on amazon? It's even (apparently) got a 1/4 air inlet.
The more videos I watch here, the more I realize how selling air impacts is just a big game of relabeling tools and selling them under your name. I wish there was a database where you could find which model is sold from which manufacturer. Btw Hazet also has this model.
Waiting on the Kobalt 24 volt and Milwaukee M12 Right Angle Impact Wrench.
Don't bother with the M12. It can't spin 1/4" distorted lock nuts with no preload.
Yeah the Milwaukee right angle is gutless... Not impressed at all
@@FusionBoost2.0 I've just been consistently let down by M12 products in general. They seem to be for the most casual of DIYer.
@@Hansengineering I don't mind the stubby but here in the rust belt, it don't got the power... The die grinder is nice as well but I can't really find anything else automotive wise that wows me... Fine for people maybe in non rust places, but it don't work for me here
@@FusionBoost2.0 I found it didn't work on brand new hardware, WITH anti-galling aids such as Krytox.
Wish they made a 3/8 even better if there was an m12
Astro 1833 is only 3/8 drive flex head air ratchet and says 400lb torque!!!(please test this one) Thanks 😊
Same torque as this
Probably already been said but have you tested the Milwaukee m12 right angle impact gun?
1:58
@@TorqueTestChannel shows how much attention i was paying, looking forward to it!
I had the older m18 right angle impact. It was horrible.
The m12 right angle is awesome I use it alof
What's the point of the MT2512 then? More expensive, larger, less powerful.
That's a big shrug from us. It's a few years old though, this flex is brand new
@@TorqueTestChannel The old one has to be worn out in some way, i understand new tech, but the same company advertizing the same torque on almost the same guns? That flex head has got the beans, love the videos.
If you watch AvEs videos about the various air tools, there really are not that many air tool manufacturers. Makes sense a lot are the same tool.
Air tools will never die despite what many people say. It's just physically impossible for electric tools to duplicate certain air tools.
It's just a rebranded Astro pneumatic
Why not just do a palm impact instead of the long handle being in the way? Idk if that’s even a thing but seems like you would have better access.
Haha I'm working on that very thing last few months
Test the 1834 astro nano
It's identical to the cheaper Astro tools 1834. Astro is severely hindered with it removable exhaust muffler. Take it apart and remove muffler and the tool performs as advertised for $170 compared to Matco $360. It's an amazing tool for suspension and brake jobs. couple that with sunex 1/2" low profile sockets and you can power out any bolt
Hello there.
General Kenobi
Flex head truely flexing on its stiff brother
TOOL TRUCK TOOL BRANDS....SEEM TO ALWAYS BE OVERPRICED AND UNDERPOWERED. BUT TTC IS ALWAYS MY FIRST CHOICE,,,,,,,,,,,, THANKS FOR YOUR TIME GUYS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bro , a flex head impact is so weird
That head is massive
Giggity?
First time in the boys locker room?
@@FCSlim lmao
Ill never buy another matco tool ever again tbh. theres too many other better cheaper options with just as good of a warranty
One of the kids at work picked up the MT2612, if that thing is making 330 ftlbs my IR 244 is making over 1000!??, I know that's apples to oranges, but??, and holding it in your left hand and a wrench inside of the frame rail puts the exhaust right in your face, I won't be using it again.
