They changed the TOS after may 3rd.
I never gave it a negative review in the first place. I knew the requirements when I bought the game, they were not hidden and if I missed something that would have been on me.
Not until it is restored to the countries that don’t have PSN access.
As long as it isn’t being sold there, there is a chance they will ‘take back’ their reversal.
Do not give Sony any mercy. Grant them no respite.
Hold the fire to their feet for a little longer yet.
It would be one thing if people could but didn’t want to make a PSN account. The fact that there are regions that can’t just make a PSN account, but we’re still sold the game, is what puts the blame squarely on Sony.

The funniest part is that Helldivers 2 trained an army of soldiers designed to be pointed at something and destroy it, from bugs to robots. This time it was Sony
Even better, they have to contend with JOEL who is seen as a mastermind/ game master.
Then came S.O.N.Y. which just made the entire Helldiver Corp mobilized and attacked with even more ferocity.
Not just helldivers 2 players gamers in general.

They won'd do shit with Stellar Blade. Helldivers 2 got 250k negative reviews in like 2 days. Also Steam took actions. Steam perhaps demanded from Sony to pay for refunds. Meanwhile Stellar Blde has what? 80k signs in the petition? And no third party that would demand responsibility from Sony.
removing the ability for those countries to purchase helldivers was a Steam measure to avoid being caught in the crosshair of any lawsuits that would have come of this if it went through. now that iit's gone I'm sure Lord Gaben is just ensuring this surrender on Sony's part is final before reinstating.

I do remember one post that showed some evidence that the terms and service for helldivers 2 actually got changed from saying this was optional to saying it was mandatory for a while.

Hopefully they restore Helldivers 2 back to the Steam shop, because the option to buy is now gone for me.
I'm sure they will but there'll most likely have to be discussions with Sony so it may be a few days but I sincerely hope it's soon.

Consumers of ALL products need to start paying attention to these TOS. It is getting worse. The issue is these companies, ALL OF THEM often change them. Look how Ruko force you to accept new TOS months or years after you bought the product. Your TV will not even work until you accept the new terms. No option to decline.
As far as Sony, they do not deserve anyone benefit of the doubt. They removed movies that were purchased from ppls account. On the front page it said purchase but page 21 of the TOS is said license. Very shady.
Just remember kids. If a company is on the stock market the priority is the shareholders NOT the consumer.
Making the key to affecting change ultimately being our wallets, the amount of generic products i buy at the grocery store instead of name brands because of how the companies are run since they have to please shareholders.

@Zeeksplaylist CMs are either employed and paid by Arrowhead, what more control do you need? In the off chance that they are 100% volunteers. Arrowhead can always disavow and distance themselves.
They say a lot of stupid stuff and antagonize the fans/consumers while representing the studio.
We've had people fire for far less that that. Able to leverage companies policy because an employee was guilty of wrong thing.
No the employees are actually owned by the parent company Sony who move their community managers after a game doesn't need as many, flops, or they need new people for a new popular product or project.
Arrowhead was the one contacting and interacting with players in the early days and even addressing comments and concerns for a while.
Yet there are things they can and can not do... Like being unable to fight against the PSN requirements, or talking against the community managers when they openly lied.
Like the 'lovely' incident where Arrowhead banned both sides talking about politics and wanting to stay neutral and then one of the toxic community managers trying to reassure everyone they didn't ban anyone from the left and only banned people from the right.
Also part of the reason why all of these community managers are throwing insults and claiming the ONE PERSON who talked with the community and did their job... Should be fired.
And this was the guy who claimed it was easy to get a PSN... Then was told why people couldn't get one and using a VPN would have Sony ban them due to terms and agreements... Before apologizing as he stated that he didn't know and claimed the others were acting emotional rather than actively trying to attack the fan base.
As in doing his job and trying to do damage control.
The CMs are essentially the political branch of Sony as this is technically speaking... A SONY PRODUCT rather than one made purely by arrowhead.
So yes... The more you know the more it sucks.

Each of those reviewers killed 1000 bugs in a 12 hour span. A negative review and touching grass for a weekend was nothing.
I found about this HERE yesterday and after seeing a few more videos on the matter requested a refund.

Helldivers steam page is still delisted on Non-PSN regions.
There's no buy button, so no new recruits will be coming from us Non-PSN regions until they revert it.
Once they fix it, I'll change my review into positive.
Even worse: whilst those places are still de-listed, those Helldivers who are already there, having bought the game before this shit went down, cannot even log in. Their only option is refund, which I believe Steam is honouring. Good for Steam, but until Sony re-lists, bad for Sony's bank account. Not going to look good on the quarterly review. Oh, the humanity! lol
You can play the game if its already installed in those regions. This was done by steam so it requires all 3 to get that back on track, it'll take a day or two.

@@Iluvantir the de-listing wasn't Sony it was Steam getting out of the way of the incoming lawsuits, them honouring the efunds and assuming it was going into effect was a self preservation move that will be reverted once they know Sony will keep this plot gone for good.

Having to link your PSN was a choice from the get go, clearly stated when first booting up the game and in their TOS. Sony literally changed it a couple days ago to say it was mandatory to link PSN

I wasn't going to play Helldivers 2 anyways, but I originally had Horizon FW and Ghosts of Tsushima on my to do list and that kerfuffle made me remove them. I didn't know at the time that Ghosts was planned to require account linking also. Even with this rollback on HD2 I am not taking a chance on Sony now. In their tweet though, they could have at least said, "Thank you to the fans for trying so hard to save us from ourselves."

I feel like there needs to be a required simplified terms. With the full sized one able to be seen and linked to it. If a company has one that doest match then they get legal trouble

I'm not sure why some customers can't seem to grasp the concept that money is the best way to speak to companies. Don't like what a company was doing? Don't buy their product. Petitions and complaining won't do much. Make them lose profit and they'll listen, or you'll at least get their attention. This was why Sony seemed to reverse their direction with Helldivers 2, and why they're caring less about the complaints for Stellar Blade.
3:45: Most companies are aware people don't actually read the fine print. Or the instruction manual. Even the government is aware of that. Which is why the excuse "We put it in the instruction manual" doesn't fly anymore if some government agency goes after a company for shady behavior.

You don't have to "wade through" the "legal jargon", but it is still binding and it is on you if you chose not to. I do feel it was dirty, or dumb (depends how much credit you give Sony), to offer the game in areas where they knew those consumers could not get a PSN account.
God, you guys are getting this wrong so easily that I'm pretty sure you're just willingly ignoring it at this point.
It was on the steam page, but it wasn't in the EULA. There were also places on Sony's website that said the linking wasn't required. The blerb on Steam would *not* hold up in court if it had come to that.

I remember the good old days of just popping in Kingdom Hearts 2 or Battlefront 2, playing my heart out & thinking that things couldn't get any better than this. Young me was right. Corpos suck. Nintendo consistently drops support for their catalog of games, making it hard to collect older titles that they especially refuse to port. PlayStation is either too busy sticking its head in the sand or outright refusing to remove that metaphorical stick up their ass. You know the stick, it's that oriental stick. It's why we can't have nice things like Gravity Rush 3 or Bloodborne 2. It's irritating to know that the king of JRPGs is scared of jiggle physics. Then there's Microsoft. They're hardly relevant outside of compelling every other company to come up with asinine subscription services that screw us over. All they've got going for them is Minecraft, which they then proceeded to milk harder than Master Chief after several trilogies. And then there's the big name publishers & developers, milking, destroying or even holding classic IPs hostage. And then we've got smaller scale threats, like egotistical localizers & power hunger mod barons on Nexus.

No one sane even plays consoles - why? I have more games that I can play in lifetime for PC and never even had to play multiplayer, too. The same question - why? Pre-order games? Am I a trained monkey or am I a free citizen, lol?

For anyone not informed an arrowhead dev suggested that players voice their displeasure with psn via the steam platform, usually i would disclaim that while some reviews are out of petty spite while others are just tying to get sony's attention, the distinction between the two hardly matter because every player of this game wheather or not the would be affected by region restriction or not has EVERY reason to spill venom short of making threats. Lets not mince words, SONY tried fuck us on this game just to please shareholders with psn subscribers, and didn't care about us or the devs the left with the tap. This is a community base game, even if it we had just a forth of the community cut from the game that would be a major blow to our ability to make progress on various major order not to mention it would fuck so many people out of the best game this year and $40. Tho refunds have been issued. Its rare that a fanbase turning into a mob is for a good reason, ends up working, and inadvertently show just how many people loves this game. I hope things can go back to normal in full and that sony NEVER gets it in there head to try this shit again. Pls go on steam make a positive review when things go back and show love to the devs, they were really taken through it.
I would suggest shifting a 1 star review to a 3 star review, with view to shifting that to a 5 star review once region locking has been fully reversed.
I kinda feel like there's a chance that Sony didn't read the Steam terms of service fineprint and Valve took them out behind the shed and reminded them that they could force refunds unilaterally.

Ironically, it was one of the ArrowHead CMs that off handedly recommended us to review bomb and ask for refunds on Steam because that was the only way we would be heard. After that, we took it as a challenge and turned it into a real life Major Order. We completed the MO in 48 hours. Helldivers never die.

Amount of "gamers" I see saying PC players are entitled was surprising especially some sony players. Saying stuff like "what so hard in making a psn account? So stupid, it's because PC players don't take BS is why to this day they are the only ones who don't pay for online multi-playe. If console players weren't so easy to bend over and take whatever is given to them, we all would still have free online multi-player today.

Initially it said it the PSN account was optional.

Sony is to blame for much of this but Arrowhead turned off the requirement to create a Play Station account as the number of people trying to create one was taking the system down. Neither the creators or Sony then explained to the community explicitly enough about the requirements going forward.
Valve continuing to be the goat is rather interesting. Gamers united, we fought Sony, we won.
And we only won because we forced them to change something they wanted in the game six months earlier due to valves refund policy being ignored. They always wanted us to do that annoying double sign up process that effects some steam games. I wonder if even Valve is tired of studio's forcing a second login.
Ironically we were in actual battle for democracy and we won my Super Earth Patriots.

Just one more thing: Helldivers 2 is still region-locked on Steam. Countries where PSN isn't supported still can't buy the game as of this writing.

it also the vales TOC that the game publishers (sony) are spose to tell them the regains that are block to sell because of PSN not allowed in some area or that game publishers don't what sell some areas for political or legal reasons. since that didn't do that or they told vale make it gobble. (since vale knew PSN don't allow in like 177 country Vale not stupid) Vale will think that the PSN will be not mandatory so vale would will sell in those areas and it not affect your ability to play the game. since sony broke that TOC vale not going get problem of the refund with sony since they had to accept the refund or be sued. i would like to point out it would still say that it has 3 party account. Vale have to say this since it apart of Vales TOC to inform you that you can connect with 3 party account with your steam account.
This entire situation is exactly why I will always buy physical DVDs over any kind of streaming service.

Not to mention that PC players have access to millions of mods and thousands of classic and indie titles
One of way Sony could have pushed people to do it without requiring it would be to give a special skin or weapon for linking it to a PSN account

As of the last info posted, they have NOT changed the region lock. Steam still has the game delisted in 170+ countries. Until they have Steam release the game for sale in all countries, the region lock is still there. They at this point are trying to see if just giving up the PSN link right now will settle this down. Until they convince Steam they are not going to do this again, Steam won't take on the responsibility for selling the game in those blocked areas.
