Jobs is absolutely right. I started my IT career at IBM and watched them go down the tubes in the late 80s and early 90s for exactly that reason. The quality of the product or service no longer mattered and when competition began to seriously challenge their monopoly, they blindly went forward unchanged while younger and more customer focuses companies bled away their customers and profitability.

IBM must have been a blast before that time!

"You can't make money without your players", a lot of game studios don't seem to realize this... Like you say, if they let the actual designers and developers do what they do best, and listen to their users, games would be even better. But all they see is money and money, they don't care about their users (the people who are giving them money??) and it's sad :/ GREAT VIDEO!!!

Remember that when you are a big man at a studio one day ;)

I agree! There are so many games which users love dearly and are so loyal too because of the actual product and/or the game studio.
Bethesda and their games is one of my personal favorites, so it's more than sad they overshadow us and the team who actually created the game by sales and marketing.
So I agree with Steve's quote. Nowadays I feel like they're making a product out of loyal users instead of actually staying loyal too their users and put the users and the people who actually have the right knowlegde of their product (like the designers, developers, etc...) first.
Those are the people who are really invested and understand what their users want. Not the shareholders nor marketing and sales teams that don't even know the actual users or even can't relate with the games and all the hard work that goes behind it.
Gaming is becoming a sad money making machine, not realizing some desisions having huge consequenses to their staff and especially the users who are actually paying them because the dollar signs in their eyes are blocking out what's really important.

The bit about Jobs is ironic because Jobs wasn't the "product person", Wozniack was. Jobs was the marketing person.

2:50 sony did in fact not give in. while they haven't put the requirement in place, they are still laying the ground work to put it in place. it is clear they are going to be trying it again in the near future.

I would like to see what it would be like if MS sold the Blizzard to Valve or Nintendo but keep Activision and King, heck sell Rare to Nintendo, BanjoKazooie back on Nintendo.
I just wanted an Overwatch game that focuses on the story and world building a game we can take our mains and make them into the OP heroes that see them as, I want Overwatch to break free and be an actually game and not some live serve ass that's only there to sells skins and stroke fragile egos.
Yes I have seen fan work and make better use of the characters than blizzard and I don't mean the 34 stuff.
