    Moyes said a contract was 'on the table' which is more than a verbal offer I would think, Alex sounded like he was guessing? Reality is, if the offer was there why didnt Moyes sign? As Simon says, even if things are going well, surely even the more reason to resign there and then. There is no benefit to leaving it and creating instability. Unfortunately things leak and the managerial hunt got out there, but what should the board do? Sit on their hands and leave any incoming manager a matter of weeks to sort out the squad.

    They're both arguing the same thing essentially, and they're arguing about essentially what is, fiction since no one other than the club and David Moyse knows exactly what has happened behind closed doors. David and the club, both said they're happy, it's done, he's leaving, we don't need to talk about it anymore.

    We brought in Tim Steidten to modernise the structure of the club, and any contract talks in January will have been on the understanding that Moyes would be a head coach instead of a traditional manager with full control. There were even rumours at the time of performance-related conditions allowing for early dismissal without financial penalty.
    I don't think there was ever a formal contract ready to sign, but I do think the club were giving Moyes the option of first refusal. My best guess is that most of the public statements were just stage management, and that both Moyes and the hierarchy have known for months that he didn't want to work under that new structure.

  • @Essydyk
    @Essydyk Месяц назад

    I think Moyes already has something lined up for the summer or else he would be making a lot more of a song and dance about how his time at West Ham ended. It's not really in his nature to be so easy-osy about being effectively sacked.

  • @harrywix
    @harrywix Месяц назад

    The club is modernising its structure to a Technical Director and Head Coach, and that wasn't, it seems, to DM's liking. Nor was his one-dimensional, low block football enjoyed by the fans. As a season ticket holder I'm glad we're moving on, and I think we may have Daniel Kretisnky to thank for that.

    Either he was offered a contract for a new 'coaching' role (which IMO would totally expose him), or he lied to save face and was not offered a new contract at all. He clearly stated he had a contract AND IT WAS ENTIRELY HIS DECISION if he stays or he goes. Therefore the club had every right to look for a new coach/manager at this stage. Please do know what you're talking about before having a go at us fans again, it really is insulting.

    • @nickgoatham7981
      @nickgoatham7981 Месяц назад

      Very accurate. Moyes words around Dec /Jan, were about contract on the table, which will be looked at later.
      Nothing about verbal contract, which is fairly meaningless at best of times.
      Results as we all know have been woeful since then, it is only my view that the unrest at the club, the results and most importantly the massive re-build had big part to play.
      The recruitment will be trusted to Tim Steidten, the board have painful evidence this is not, Moyes forte, and I think he's finally realised it himself.

    A potential 12th title in the past 13 years should tell you already the answer,
    But yes people will say Rangers was in the league below, So my answer to that is for the past decade Rangers have won 3 trophies whilst Celtic have won 24, Thats a pretty damming statistic for a so called “two horse race” and let’s not forget that’s with different managers players, I just find it so disingenuous to claim this is to do with managers with different players and just another excuse,
    So here’s a question Celtic this season have been 9 points ahead just before Christmas and went on a bad streak and Rangers saw that as an opportunity and got ahead with 3 points and fluffed it then Celtic managed to claw it back and still “potentially” win the title, Now you tell me do Rangers have that mental strength to do that If the roles were reversed?
    In Theory Celtic have to win 3 more trophies including this title to surpass Rangers of being the most successful team in Scotland with Rangers with 117 trophies and Celtic 115.
