True, but the disallowed Roofe goal at Ibrox was a disgrace
Roofe scored the first goal in the first game and the ref gave a foul after Lagerbielka was stripped of the ball. Of course it didn’t count but it should have. The second game at Ibrox could have gone either way but ended in a draw. The two games at Celtic Park Rangers were down to ten for half of each game. Results matter. But on the simple question of whether Celtic are “miles ahead” the answer is obvious. Gone are the 4-0 and 5-1 skelpings. The gap isn’t that big.

Celtic looked very good for the first 30 minutes and I thought butland really kept Rangers in it. Celtics defending for rangers goal was poor and then when Celtic had 11 Vs 10 Celtic were way out ahead for another 30 minutes but there seemed to be a real lack of urgency about scoring and a almost cocky attitude to pass the ball into the net. Which made the last 10 minutes somewhat end to end when rangers thought okay go for it.
Celtic are poor under Rodgers and the mentality to see out big games is missing but the quality is there to be seen in moments. Rangers are just bad their right back is their top scorer but he gets done and shown up as a defensive liability in every single big game.

As much as I disagree with Souness on most issues, I think the idea that Rangers and Celtic would suffer in the English Premiership or Championship mental. They'd gain a silly amount of money for playing in those leagues, which they'd be able to use to attract bigger players. It's the sad fact that the SPL just doesn't have the reputation or the money to attract the type of quality you find in the English leagues.
If celtic & Rangers were as big as their fans make out they already have massive money. The truth is, nobody wants to watch them.

@@clarkefraser920 The goal was rightly disallowed, it was the same reason the penalty was gving in the last game. You need to learn the rules, it will make it easier for you to understand decisions. Anyway that was only one game. Rangers have taking one point from 12 and celtic simply have better players in key postions. Celtic have more money to spend and have more sellable assets, yet rangers have the higher wage bill. If celtic play their cards right they could dominate the league for a few years yet.

The thing that no one has seemed to admit is that Celtic have not feared Rangers since Gerrard was manager, and even in the year or two before they won the league, rangers were much more of a force and even beat Celtic at Parkhead and regularly at Ibrox. Gerrard had something the last three managers have not. Time may be one of those things but I think there is more to it than just that.

When you look at the final table and Celtic are at least 6 ponts ahead with a better goal difference, nobody is going to say that was close.

If the gulf was huge, you would be winning the title by a margin in double figures. You would also be winning Old Firm games by a margin greater than the single goal victories you recorded this season. The fact is you have regressed under Brenda and got away with it because Clement is still working with a lot of the dross of the Gerrard/van Bronkhorst/ Beale eras. In the end, despite wringing out eveything he could from that squad, it wasn't quite enough and we threw it away in one week.

Celtic fan here. I agree with Souness in the sense of head to head the games haven't had much between the sides. Rangers could maybe feel hard done by not to have won atleast 1. Although I would counter his argument of its not clement's players yet. The same argument could be made of Rodgers. He's still left with a lot of ange's players

Enjoy the Celtic and rangers chat. That being said I wish on this channel the conversation wouldn’t always revert to finances and ‘if they were in the premier league’. I'm a Rangers fan I don't think there's a massive gap, but the gap is bigger than Souness believes. Celtic have dropped closer to our level for a large part of the season, while the players were adjusting to Rodgers style of play.
Souness must think a big gap=Celtic finishing 15 points ahead every season or whatever, but that will never be the case. Because Rangers are far better than all the other teams, so they'll get enough points to be quite close to Celtic. So the gap is shown more when we play Celtic & he can talk about close games, but Celtic still get the win more often than not in the last few years.
Hopefully Clement is backed in the summer & we can finally compete better. We're needing at least 6 or 7 players, while getting rid of those that aren't good enough or turn up for 4 months of the season.
Celtic fan here, yeah it's the 4 derby matches that definitely make or break the season for either club, but sometimes freak results do occur, like when rangers lost to Motherwell and then Celtic also lost the same day. It's rare to see both lose the same day,

And regards to selling players, who of value is there at the club who could bring in good fees, Butland would def be top. But then you'd need to spend a chunk of his fee on a new keeper.
no wins from 4 games says otherwise. First game Rangers had home advantage full squad to pick from, Celtic full of injuries and a makeshift defence....they never laid a glove on us. Rangers are nowhere near Celtic.
As a Rangers fan, Celtic are so far ahead that it's not even funny. Celtic are comparable to PSG & Bayern in their own leagues
