Celtic fan, had to laugh at the comment about his stature being only 5'7", well Tony was a giant compared to my hero Jimmy Johnstone who was only 5'1" and made every hatchet man in European and World football look a fool with his sublime skills.
As a young footballer in the 80s I loved watching Tony bang in the goals with Frank,West Ham were an exciting team to watch and played good football. Hated Frank when he played with Celtic but respected him ,even more now. This is a story which we see so much with ex football players. Best of luck to Tony!
I remember his debut goal on Match of the Day , I think against Tottenham. As an Evertonian I'll never forget his debut for us against Newcastle on the opening day. A hat trick with the first insde 30 seconds. Never heard anyone have a bad word to say about TC. Great goalscorer and a lovely person.
ive come to know tony. hes a great westham fan, hes done a forward in my revised book and i thank him ,we all have times in our lives when the shit hits the fan, i wish him all the best for the future and hope to meet up in europe if we get there again.

Have met him a few times, he was always polite, friendly and sociable. He was great at Leicester City 🦊 .... A fantastic signing, an inspired signing by the then Manager Martin O'Neill. It seemed that nobody else wanted him. Formed a great partnership with a very young Emile Heskey. Was always a delight to watch him playing ....

How do you know Anthony? That's right, you don't, you've got no idea what was going on behind closed doors between two people you dont even know. You bloody weirdo
Tony worked hard to get to be a pro Scored almost 1 in 2 games in his career Wife watched kids and spent money Tony retired his wife left him as money dried up (surprise eh) Tony is happy with Karen.
Tony signed my football at a summer training camp for boys. He was a model professional in front of us and does not deserve the morally bankrupt misfortune he seems to have faced.
Tony Cottee was utter garbage for Everton, scored 99 goals and never once proved to be a big match winner, Graeme Sharpe said he was never a team player, if he scored the only goal in a 3 1 defeat he would believe he had done his job and others had let the team down. GO ON , name me one BIG game were Cottee scored us the winner, you will still be searching in 10 years time. Left Neville Southall out of his all time best 11 for a shitty West Ham keeper, total bluffer
@@johnbarton3252 I think overall his career with us was disappointing, not garbage. But since he joined us in 1988 nobody has scored more than his 99 goals for the club. He scored lots of his goals against the weaker top flight sides and lower league sides in the cup, bit of a flat track bully, to go with lots of missed penalties, but I don't think he ever had a partner he truly gelled with at Everton or we gave him the right service. I think the biggest goal he ever scored for us was a late winner ironically at West Ham at the back end of the 93/94 season when we were deep in relegation trouble. It proved to be his last Everton goal.
Great goal scorer. but not the greatest of personalities. Far too serious, very business orientated and not much of a soh. McAvennie in contrast, is a laugh a minute, down to earth funny guy, the complete opposite to TC.

Tony and Macca had an amazing partnership at the Hammers.
What a load of absolute cobblers. We have no idea what happened in this relationship so why is anyone being blamed. Absolute bullshit
I’m a Liverpool supporter but Cottee typified Everton in the late 80’s early 90’s. A nuisance but always gave everything on the pitch.
Agreed 😂
Agree with that also
