If anyone remembers when Lee Bowyer and Keiran dyer were fighting on the pitch, well souness was the manager, well when he got back to the changing room, he offered to fight them both together, Alan shearer tells that story, absolute class,👊😎.
I remember Bowyer outside the Majestic - oh no, let's drop that
@@bfc3057 ha ha 😆😎🥊💩😊😲😘🤞💯👌👀🎵👍😆✌️😎🎶🎼
The thing with Souness was that he was as hard as nails, could give it and take it but he was also a world class player.
I met Stuart Pearce about 20 years ago. Absolute gentleman.
- he had a reputation for being a nice quiet guy....OFF the pitch......
@@panchopuskas1 - I believe he's now a big Warrington fan (rugby league)
Paul McGrath watching this and quietly smiling...
I remember Billy Whitehurst running the Cricketers on Bramall Lane and getting up on the pool table after hours to do Elvis impressions with a cue as a mic stand.
Total Blades legend from when football was a competition. I miss those days.
No Chopper or Tommy Smith ?
Souness and Dave Mackay, from Edinburgh. Ferguson is from Stirling. They're Scottish not English.
But they played in English Football hence the title of the video???
@@danieldarks3721 but they mentioned them for Rangers and the mighty Heart of Midlothian.
I shouldn't have said they're Scottish, I should have just left it as not English
@@BigAndyK Souness played for Liverpool for much of the 80s. Dave Mackay played for Spurs in the 60s. So they both played in English football leagues, as the title says
@@MrSpleenboy and Derby in the 70’s…
“Razor Ruddock, who was another scary footballer back in his day…”
*cuts to shot of Razor in an elf hat*

Big dunc was that hard when he chopped onions they cried😢
if he stood on your toe you would apologise
Ask Jimmy Bullard
😂😂😂 brilliant
harry redknapp rang piercey's wife and said...don't worry, but stu's coming home with a broken leg...to which she apparenly replied...really..whose..?
No mention of Norman “bight your legs” Hunter.
Bight?
Big Dunc great lad hard as nails formidable in the air Everton legend💙👍
He was a legend at the Toon also, I loved it when he played up here, still loved him when he went back to Everton
I,m probably a bit older than most commentators here but the toughest duel I ever saw was at Tottenham v Burnley in the 1960,s when Mike England and Andy Lockhead used to spend 90 minutes kicking lumps out of each other but at the end of the game still shake hands and walk off in conversation together. A real mens game then,
Good to see Robbo on the list. His toughness was often overlooked
Nobody talks about Denis Smith of Stoke City anymore. As hard as they come, sometimes borderline psychopath. Any transgression of his code was dealt with - with awesome and ruthless efficiency, and sometimes, brutality.
One of the most satisfying things Ive ever seen was in an episode SAS are you tough enough when Tony Bellew punched John Fashanu
Can't have Fashanu. In my eyes a coward the way he did Mabbutt.
True, pure cowardly thuggerism.
Good list that mate. My shins ache after just watching that.
Big Dunc was a beast, 👊👌💯.
Billy whitehurst by a mile.
Terry Hurlock made Whitehurst look like a Boy Scout
@@deanos72 They're both hard but Whitehurst edges it.
Whitehurst once asked an entire pub "outside" he was by far THE hardest player I've ever seen ,Hurlock is NOTHING compared with Whitehurst
@@maratonlegendelenemirei3352 Hurlock has got Tattoos on his teeth he’s that hard 😂
Tommy Smith was a tough player. No one mess whit that player.
his shadow would frighten you
Read what he thought of Chopper Harris.....he wouldn't go near him.
@@WhiteAngloSaxonMan go near chopper and become a cropper.
Even more nostalgic now, than when it was originally made !
Big Dunk 💪
DUNC… you don’t spell Duncan like this DUNKAN… do you?
Johnny Giles.
Before the Premier League.
Probably the best passer of a ball in the UK for most of his career.
About 20 years ago, When Saturday Comes named him as the dirtiest footballer of all-time😳.
Irish are as tough as they cone.
So basically half of the rangers team
Dont see Vinnie Jones here!
You won’t.😂
Bobby Collins of Leeds Utd Everton & Celtic 5 ft 3 ins and he would have fought a lion
Jack Charlton said he was more scared of Bobby Collins taking offence in training and "taking the 5-a-sides seriously" than anyone he faced as an opponent!
Tommy Smith, Jimmy case, Norman hunter, Billy bremmer,
All of these 10 have nightmares about Robert Huth!
Souness at no 9.😂😂😂
Quite frankly Messi wouldn't have survived for a season if he played in the 80s and before. That's why I think Maradona is/was still far better than Messi.
100%
If you're going back in time you've missed out on Trevor Hockey Norman Hunter and more
Norman Hunter nah Francis Lee bashed him up
Blimey thst takes me back! Trevor hockey a little battler with a very thick beard. I rememer when he got promoted with Sheff Utd. They also had a very good winger in Alan Woodward. He looked older than his age due to his grey hair. From a Evertonian.
Big Dunc wins this
- no mention of Joey Barton....although TBH he reserved most of his violence for his own team mates...
@@panchopuskas1 Or people lying on the floor so he jumped on their head
Mackay would scare him to death
No chance
Latter day bully
Would've blended into the background in the 80's
Neymar and the like would still be rolling around the planet if he played in the 80s
He would of been seen as too soft and small to play back then probably, a fancy dan people called those players
Billy Whitehurst is the hardest man to ever play football by a mile
Been to so many after dinner speeches they all say he was the hardest bar non
I'm a Palace fan, and l absolutely loved Terry Hurlock. That was a great Millwall team, albeit for two seasons
Steve McMahon was hard as nails
I once was at a Qand A evening with Bryan Robson. He said the hardest he ever played against was Liverpools Jimmy Case.
The Premier league was only created in the early 90s. A number of these footballers never played in it.
Mentioned but not explored Vinnie Jones
Not sure all these players played in English premier league
Souness, Tommy Smith, George Curtis. Even Terry Yorath. These were hard b*stards.
Duncan Disorderly
You put a picture of a villa player (maybe Ugo Ehiogu I think) during your summary of John fashanu.... it's not even a Wimbledon shirt
6.30 Not Jimmy Case but super sub Fairclough !
I cant believe Kevin Moran isn't mentioned in this, a 5' 10" destroyer, putting his head where lads wouldn't kick a ball.
Even as a unted fan i would say Jimmy Case was a legend
lol why is it showing footage of Gazza when talking about billy whitehurst? 🤣🤣🤣
They were teammates for a while, I suppose
Shows Graeme Souness
Caption- Scary English Players
Graeme will find you 🏴
Doesn't say English players
No Norman Hunter? Nice to see Terry Hurlock though
They should wear Tu Tu's today
Going around breaking people's legs takes so much toughness
As a Man utd fan I could never understand why Liverpool sold Jimmy Case not just a tough lad but a brilliant player, he seemed a modest understated guy
Mckay stands alone, what a player too
I'm surprised the Norman Hunter was not on the list 8-||...
He kicked people but not hard. Did not like 50/50 challenges
Hard to take this video seriously with Brian Robson above Sounness. Not that the latter played in the Premier League.
Robson was tough as nails
In fairness, Robbo was hard for 90 minutes every game and must have been very difficult to play against. Robbo was generally "hard but fair" - I don't remember him "doing" anyone deliberately.
Souness could be a Rolls Royce for 89 minutes but if someone needed "doing"...
@Mike20216 yeah. I just don't think he inspired fear in the way people knew what souness was like. Likely because he didn't want to.
Ugo is not john fashanu
Haha yeah and neither is his brother Justin (who was shown in his Norwich shirt).
I find the more I know about a subject the more I see these kind of videos are littered with errors!
There's footage of Souness stamping on a players privates and the player burst out crying 😂
Dave McKay, Peter Storey, Tommy Smith, every team had one
Duncan Ferguson would have run from Brian Robson and Souness
Sorry pal. No Chopper Harris, no list.
Billy whitehurst should be no 1 by a country mile
Would be interesting to hear the stories of what graeme souness did in liverpool dressing room as he came when liverpool stopped competing at top of the league.
Messed up stuff would of happened back then in dressing rooms
Would be interesting to hear what?
Oh & Graham Roberts....
Mark Dennis, Tommy Smith. Kenny Burns all missing
Steve McMahon was another one
Talking about these times , Rodney Marsh said you know who to avoid.
No Bobby Campbell? And especially no Jimmy Smith who terrified everyone.
Fashnu was a disgrace ....cheap shot player .
True, a coward pure and simple.
The Bash
Souness, Hurrlock, Ferguson all good Rangers Players too 💪🏼🔴⚪️🔵
Sevco could do with them now, as well as a few donations 😂 👊🏼🇮🇪🏆🏴👊🏼 CHAMPIONS AGAIN!
Jackie Charlton
John Fashanu, despite being a gifted player, disowned his brother Justin after he came out as one of the first openly gay players in the UK. Justin Fashanu hanged himself at the age of 37. John dismissed him as an 'attention seeker'.
Ok, my memory now disowns John and remembers Justin. Thanks for the information.
Souness almost killed that one guy
Bryan Robson was called Sick Note because he was always injured. Tough guy. Not really.
he grabbed him by the shirt not the throat
ray harford
Most of the top ten were rangers players 😅
Norman Hunter, Tommy Smith??
That was a poor choice of minimal contact clip
That challenge tore that players ACL
case was a coward.
Football players? Hilarious! Meanwhile in rugby! Would love to see them on a rugby pitch or game. Crumble! 😅😅😅
Mark Dennis?
Arsenal's peter storey..
and at number 1? the entire Leeds United team under Don Revie.
He never got the best of Bryan Robson or big Norm
Football fan but no Footballers are 'proper' hardmen
stuart pearce -- wacko mike bassetts england
So why show a pic of David Fairclough.
Haha I shouted the same thing!
Souness was the dirtiest player in the history of the game. I guess when you're talentless you resort to violence.
He was talented. But had lost it by the time he returned to Scotland
Players crumble like a deck of cards under minimal contact these days, he said, spoken over the challenge on van Dijk by Pickford which put van Dijk out for months after wrecking his knee. Stopped watching right there.
He's speaking the truth.
no vinnie jones !?
BILLY BREMNER wasn't a bully evey team had a hard man Billy Bremner was a Leader of men and World 🌎 class Dave McKay also said he respected Billy Bremner and was pleased it didn't go further with that challenge with that iconic photo. You didn't mess with Johnny Giles he was a proper hard man you never messed with Johnny Giles. 🦚🇮🇨. There's no Norman Hunter,Tommy Smith or Chopper Harris 👊✊
That Dave McKay photo was after bremner tackled him on his first match back on a newly healed broken leg .. wasn’t best pleased apparently ! Up the Spurs
@@geeman4041Dave McKay wasn't pleased understandably BILLY BREMNER and DAVE McKay where good friends and both had respect for each other 🤝🙏M.O.T 🦚🇮🇨
@@user-bi3ww3im3s I heard this also, as a Spurs fan from the eighties on I would say a player missing from the list is Graham Roberts. I believed him when he said he’d run through a brick wall for his beloved Spurs 😁
Chopper Harris ?
Billy deffo
Scary English players? Souness and Ferguson are Scottish!
Doesn't say English players
It says it right under the player's names!
English football refers to the English league. These were Scots playing in the English League.
@aaropajari7058 If you look under the player's names, it literally says, 'Scary English Player's'
Dave MacKay was SCOTTISH not English
Did he grab billy bremner by the neck?? I think it was Tottenham v Leeds can’t Remember the year though.
@@section5760 no he didn't, the tee shirt though yes
@@chiefgilray yeah that’s right. My mistake sorry. It was in the 70s after all.
As a Hearts fan I have idolised Dave Mackay however he may have been hard as nails but was fair with it! He was embarrassed with the photo of him grabbing Bremners shirt but was just back from a leg break and felt that Billy Bremner tried to do it again. Mackay was also a very funny man and a great captain
We need him at Spurs now. Cuti Romero is our closest contemporary to him. Nutcase
John McNamee ex Celtic and Newcastle could turn players with a hard man reputation into jelly.
Kenny burns.
You forgot Chopper Harris - the only player to get a red card in training!
These are not all English
Whoever made this video needs more research
