i hate the bending houses and streets/backgrounds at the X4. It's so terrible for vloggling. Never liked it. Put my GoPro for everything on linear. A little time one finds this typical bending funny but in the ends it always disturbs my view. And why should the X4 suddenly become a better vlogging camera than the X3? I never saw many doing this job with the X3. That are action cameras. And the 1 inch of the P3 is is vastly superior to the other sensors.I think your conclusion is very realistic and comes from practice. That's what I love about your videos. Great job.
If you're just vlogging walking around or sitting in an office, the osmo 3 is the obvious choice. But it is not even water resistant. If you're a vlogger who does exciting things then I think the x4 would be the obvious choice. Everyone is doing something different and theres a camera to fit everyone's needs. The bending of the picture only happens when you're way wide. It can also shoot single lens where it doesn't bend the picture at all. There's several scenarios where you wouldn't need the 360 option.

Great video! I found myself debating between the Pocket 3 and X4 for a few weeks before deciding to go with the x4, albeit for reasons different than what you've mentioned here. Unpopular opinion: The Pocket 3 gets better footage 9/10 times in almost every situation. However, the x4 allows you to capture moments while being able to be fully present for them, rather than watching those same core memories unfold through a small screen to make sure you've got your shot framed correctly. For actual, professional content creation, the Pocket 3 will win in almost every situation for its ability to produce higher quality footage. However, for the average person who just wants to record/share videos of fun adventures / travel / etc, the slightly decreased footage quality might be worth the fact that it can still create good quality footage without needing to be aimed / monitored during recording. I recently took the x4 to a concert and was recording the artists on stage when they started hitting foam baseballs into the crowd. My x4 was able to track the baseballs from the stage all the way to the back of the house, where fans caught/chased after them. No other camera would have allowed me to capture that moment as effectively as the x4, while still maintaining the choice between watching the video reframed to show JUST the stage, to show the entire ball-hit scenario, or even BOTH at the same time if I were so inclined. I could also load the video into my meta quest 3 to watch in full 360 should I choose to.
This is the answer I was looking for. While my use case is rather mundane (I’m a dad mainly wanting to capture moments with my kid) being able to be remain present is key
For vlog, you want easy first and creative control second. Post workflow is easier with P3. Like you pointed out at the end, if you were to hand a friend an X4, they can just walk around with it, not pay attention to what they were doing and still have usable b-roll.
What are the videos for? As in, just for you or social media? How much time do you have when filming/editing? Is image quality really important or not so much?
@@TamaraGabrielUK Hi, yeh just for social media, I've never edited before and that sounds complicated lol. I want the best quality videos really, thinking of using it on holidays walking along the sea fronts etc, not really bothered about night time videos, thanks
@@TamaraGabrielUK I noticed on your video you say the pocket 3 isn't a wide angle compared to the X4 so that's what made me think towards the x4 to get more in.
Perfect timing, I'm considering buying a video recorder for my best friend's kids so they can capture videos of their family since their mom has cancer. It sounds like the DJI would be a good fit for kids 10, 12 & 14 to use. If anyone has other suggestions, LMK.
I might would say in a case like this you might like the 360 because in the future you would be able to relive moments in a VR headset. But with kids I might would say the X4 because the Pocket 3 is more fragile and a kid could easily break the gimbal if not careful. I would give serious consideration to that aspect with a child and compare them in a store if possible. If they use them in sports setting like on a bike then X4. If you have a budding filmmaker then maybe the Pocket 3 as it will produce the most cinematic results.
For kids just get a GoPro style camera, more robust, not easy to break and to take care..P3 is fragile,X4 is also fragile cause the lens is easy to scratch.
Hi Tamara, there is a new firmware update on the DJI Osmo Pocket 3. Please check and update. There is a new gimbal mode added after the update. I missed taking a screenshot of the update and there are no release notes from DJI about the latest firmware update online. Thank you!
Personally, I don't see the Insta360 as a vlogging camera. I can see incorporating footage from it into a vlog. A friend of mine has one, and the footage does look cool. But, its not something I would vlog with. That being said, I have lost interest in the Insta360. Mainly because the makers of Insta360 have asked content creators to hide the fact that their videos are being sponsored by Insta360. It seems like a dumb move since it seems quite obvious that it would only be a matter of time before creators would share this request with their audiences. I'm happy with my OP3. I look forward to using it for narrative projects of mine. Thank you for your content covering the OP3. It's been very helpful.
Many commented on the lack of this kind of video. There is a reason. You are comparing an apple to an orange. A pocket 3 is designed for cinimatic footage at a higher quality in a more controlled enviroment. An insta360 x4 is an action camera designed for adventures. Try taking a pocket 3 rock climbing, or swimming. For vlogging a pocket 3 is designed for this. The insta360 x4 is not... I personally own the x4 and its perfect for my usages as i travel as i need something quick, small, waterproof that i can reframe later. Something a pocket 3 is just not designed for. I think really owning both would be the perfect combo.
For me... the BEST ALL-AROUND Travel/Vlog camera, today, is the Insta360 ACE PRO: small, light, with very good image quality even at night but beautifully rugged and waterproof, with a 16mm equivalent UW lens but becoming a 32mm with the “Clarity Zoom” without losing quality!
Been lately started to look at something like a "vlog" camera, to use while on a trip to maybe shoot something. Or to use during competitions when filming someone while following them. I am comparing heavily between: Pocket 2 or 3 and the X3 or X4 I dont have any hopes of making life changing vlogs or video's, just want something to point and shoot when i want to. But i do like to get a higher then avarage product so i know it will last me a long time before i feel the need that i have to upgrade or am missing out on quality. And right now i do tend to lean more to the X3 or X4, it does have less moving parts that could break or something to happen with. Big plus for those is also that i can just change out the battery if i need to instead of having to worry about charging it and hoping it gets charged enough if i am in between something.
Absolutely no brainier! The OSMO Three all day long. We have been using ours for a couple of months now and simply don’t use our Insta360x4, totally redundant. Great vlog though.
Where were the lenses pointing on the X4 on this review? When you just screw it on a stick you gonna be in the stitching area which I think as by physics the largest pixel size and combined with stitching os newer as crisp as something in the centre of the lense. So would be good to know if it was in single lense mode and pointing to you. This settup is more comparative to another single lens camera quality wise...
There are some very small power bank batteries on Amazon that will connect to USBC connection on the tripod extension. We're going on a cruise to Norway to see the northern lights in the fall. DJI told me that the Pocket 3 will operate in the cold weather but that the battery will deplete faster. Hence, in addition to the power handle, I bought a set of the power banks.
I was contemplating upgrading from my x3 to x4 yesterday for better vlogging but instead bought the OP3 Creator combo. I will now use the X3 for bRolll. I also use the META bans for POV
I have the Pocket 3 and an X2. I use the X2 on my motorcycle. I plan to upgrade to X4. The Pocket 3 does give great results but not ideal in an action setting.
Two very different cameras i love my X3 and the pocket 3. The x3 takes great shoots like fake drone shots from vantage points etc. the pocket 3 is great hand held vlogging.
I would most definitely go for the pocket 3 would it be my only camera but in my case I went for the 360 camera since it would be my secondary or tertiary camera for my trips. I normally use a mirrorless camera for my primary shooting and secondary I went for a GoPro. I recently purchased the x4 since it would really add to the creative angle shots but I probably give myself a lot of extra work with editing in the end. I’ll be traveling next week so I’m gonna be using 3 cameras this time. Yay..😅
These two camera are really for different jobs, the DJI has larger 1 inch sensor compared to the X4 1/2 inch so can’t compete as the 8k that has to be reframed is then of a lower quality image. The Pocket three is more aimed at slower work and you would not use it as an extreme sports camera as would break the gimble and it’s not weather proof like the X4. Both fantastic products but pick these if you need for what they are purposed for or buy both if you can afford, enjoyed watching 🥳🥳🥳 Ps. I have the X3 and now X4 but for extreme water sports and the Osmo could not be used for this.
I own the DJI Pocket 2, and a few months ago, I purchased the Pocket 3. Unfortunately, I am now disappointed because the screen is malfunctioning despite my careful handling. Since I am on the other side of the world, sending it back for repair is extremely expensive. Am hoping DJI to solve this issue for me.
but then, the pocket 3 is very good not to deny it, however, why not instead just get the Ai powered gimbal from Insta360 and use the phone to record while having the benefits of the insta360 software? It is like a no brainer for those on a budget (and I can't find the video with the Action 4 comparison?)
Recording on my phone is a last resort as I prefer to keep my phone for other tasks and have a dedicated camera. Action 4 comparison will be shared soon ☺️
@@TamaraGabrielUK That wasn't meant for you personally, but more like an option for the people to get (if anyone is interested, and the people interested will want to watch your video comparisons) since all modern-day smartphones have decent or good cameras, and an AI-powered gimbal is a way cheaper option than buying a "dedicated" camera with a built-in gimbal. Also, I do own an Action 4 camera, I am just interested to see your comparisons.
Thanks for this! The comparison between the X4 and the P3 hasn't really featured much in other channels (as far as I have seen). They are indeed different tools for different jobs, but for me at least, the P3 is a point of reference, and it's interesting to see how the X4 compares when it comes to general video quality, setting aside the factors which define their uses. In many side-by-side comparison shots I've seen of the X3 vs X4, the X3 often looks like it's the 8K camera and the X4 looks like the 5.7K camera. But one reviewer included a brief comparison shot presented as side-by-side clips showing the low, medium and high sharpness settings of the X4, when pointing at a brick-built building in the medium distance. With low sharpness, the bricks just blended into a blurred mess. At medium and high, the individual bricks were clearly identifiable. Frankly, in that comparison, the low X4 sharpness setting resulted in a pretty dire "this was shot with the old X1" image. One or two RUclipsrs have said in passing that actually they use that low sharpness setting. How about you? Would it be worth making a two or three minute video just comparing results with the three sharpness settings, using suitable detailed locations? I suspect this may be an overlooked but important matter. (I would do it myself but I have yet to buy the X4... still on the fence, and boy, that becomes uncomfortable after a few weeks...)
Personally, the Insta360 is way more diverse, but it depends on use case and time. Insta360 - post take long and has a learning curve, but on can get very creative shots. Is nice for beginners and overall users who enjoy creative aspects of enjoying the moment. One definitely needs to protect the lenses at all times. DJI pocket - is easy to use, and straight to the point ( literally), but it takes creative finesse to get creative shots. Works great for intermittent to beginners. Gimbal is fragile. I personally go with the Insta360 X4 for it's diversity and you can find your own style.
Just question Have u made gimbal calibration on your pocket 3? Every time when i am turning on this camera sensor is allways looking into sky and i need to recenter .
@@TamaraGabrielUK ok seems i am not only one with this problem How about recording outside do you always need to put nd filter at day time ? Bcoz i see mostly overexposed brightness and nd filter is only solution
@@TamaraGabrielUK you mean during day time exposure switch to - 0.X or more ? Current exposure is really annoying .Bcoz i also need to go indoors location too .
For straight up vlogging and in low-light (even for studio based video) Osmo is the winner For interesting shoot and compose later stuff in good light, the 360.
What makes my decision more complicated for me is how clear and crisp the videos look made by other RUclipsrs and, of course, those by insta360 themselves. I want to get a camera to do walks in Spain, and wherever else we visit, but also double it as a bit of a vlogging camera to capture moments with my daughter. I feel the insta360 X4 would make it easy to do both, since I won’t have to worry about where the camera is pointing. Yet, that curved, fisheye look, and how far away everything seems (I feel you have to walk closer to the buildings to notice its details better), might affect the quality of the videos. Could you shed some light on this debacle, please?
I bought the P3 kept it for 2 weeks and returned it. Nice camera. But not weather/water proof and very fragile. One drop and the gimbal and the horizontal screen is damaged.
Tamara - did you grade or change the output footage at all on the OP# when you state on the screen that its 4k 25 Auto and Normal CP ? Its sooooo damn good
Would love to know your thoughts on the quality of the X4 footage. I’ve got the X3 which I do enjoy using, and have heard that the X4 quality just isn’t that great, and someone has even said that RUclipsrs are bigging up the X4 quality because they literally have to. Although I have to say that I’d trust your opinion more so than others.
@@TamaraGabrielUK the Facebook rant that I read about the X4 made out that generally the quality was just poor, and in some instances the X3 was better. I’d have considered upgrading to the X4, but I just wondered if you’d had experience of both?
@brumcreative I wouldn’t say that the quality is poor from the X4, I was genuinely impressed with it, but it does need good lighting to look good. So I’d be less inclined to use it on an overcast day. I’ll share my X3 and X4 comparison video soon.
Love the video! Which one you’d go for walking tours when traveling to just attach the camera to the shoulder strap ? I am leaning toward the x4 as I can reframe later the front view and just focus on enjoying the walk. Although the Pocket can be used for few shots in my fashion video work since i hate using gimbals 😅
First off, you do good reviews, Kudos ! DJI all the way! I will never buy an insta360 product ever after hearing how they want to buy good reviews and tell the people they sponsor they arent sponsored by them. Very bad and shady business practices. Until they change, I will stay away. The product is good enough, they don't need to take these inexcusable actions.
Seriously? That is a reason to buy the X4 over the P3? Funny! According to the logic I would then no longer buy a camera at all. Because she could fall on the street while out for a walk and be run over by a car.
I sure do wish the Pocket 3 was weatherproof. I am looking for a camera strictly for travel vlogging. When traveling, space is at a premium. A main camera and a phone for B roll is all I can carry, as I mainly travel with one pack. When traveling, you will get caught in the rain. Your options with the Pocket 3 would be to stop filming or to carry an umbrella and hope it keeps it protected (not feasible when in crowds of locals or exploring in some scenarios). Real bummer for me. I guess the X4 is the only other real option for me, as the Ace Pro does not focus close up, and the Hero 12 does terrible in low light. DJI, just make a weatherproof Pocket 4 already! Anyone know of another weather proof camera I should be looking at?
Video quality I will go for DJI. But versatility X4 is miles ahead. Thats what you would want for an action cam anyways. If I want top notch quality vids i will just stick with my s24 ultra. I just got an x4 because I love to use it while riding.
If you live in overcast environments, the Pocket 3 has poor exposure in contrast with the the clouds. This meant if i vlogged, id need to vlog while holding the camera in a very obvious way. Most users like the pocket 3 for discreet, public use
Pocket 3 clearly has better image quality but the insta360 is much more flexible, fun, less intrusive in public, and enables much more fun shots. I had this doubt for a while and ended up choosing the X4 for vlog, travel and b roll

Agreed! I also think a lot people would agree with this too.
I am using DJI OM 3 when I went on cruise...omg>>>it's so amazing...the video quliaty record on 4K 60fps.
Olá, qual seria o melhor para fazer imagens de lavouras no campo com um áudio limpo em cenários que poderá ter ventos?
So for travel which one better to take photos and video as third party with whole background view?
For a travel guide, showing more of a city, which would be a better choice?
Hi, which would you prefer to do walking videos on holiday ?
I can see incorporating footage
from it into a vlog. A friend of mine has one, and the footage does look cool. But, its
not something I would vlog with.
That being said, I have lost interest in the Insta360. Mainly because the makers of
Insta360 have asked content creators to hide the fact that their videos are being
sponsored by Insta360. It seems like a dumb move since it seems quite obvious that
it would only be a matter of time before creators would share this request with their
audiences.
I'm happy with my OP3. I look forward to using it for narrative projects of mine.
Thank you for your content covering the OP3. It's been very helpful.
Does somebody know how can I get that background blur at 1:59❤
It’s just what the Pocket 3 does. The further away from the background the blurrier it’ll be.
I think really owning both would be the perfect combo.
im looking for a dadcam/camcorder as well! which one is best?😵😵🤣🤣
For me... the BEST ALL-AROUND Travel/Vlog camera, today, is the Insta360 ACE PRO: small, light, with very good image quality even at night but beautifully rugged and waterproof, with a 16mm equivalent UW lens but becoming a 32mm with the “Clarity Zoom” without losing quality!
Love this comparison! I'm completely sold with the Pocket 3
Hi,Tami! Hice to see you! How often do you use a backpack-mounted Pocked3? Is this shooting format convenient?
Now I understand the comments section 😂 processing

Very helpful video, thanks for sharing.
this is the comparison video that we all been waiting for
Hello Tamara i recently bought dji osmo action 4.....can you please make a video about the best video format to use and how to process those format
Hi. I have a video about camera settings here ruclips.net/video/cx1YkipRfF8/видео.html
This was such a great video, thank you. I highly prefer the Osmo from this comparison.
Can you show me a tutorial on how to use slo-mo on my DJI osmo 6 Please.. why isn't it readily available??
Been lately started to look at something like a "vlog" camera, to use while on a trip to maybe shoot something. Or to use during competitions when filming someone while following them.
I am comparing heavily between: Pocket 2 or 3 and the X3 or X4
I dont have any hopes of making life changing vlogs or video's, just want something to point and shoot when i want to.
I have the original Osmo pocket and action and was thinking of upgrading to the insta360 x4, but I'm still not sure now. Osmo pocket 3 looks great.
I was contemplating upgrading from my x3 to x4 yesterday for better vlogging but instead bought the OP3 Creator combo. I will now use the X3 for bRolll. I also use the META bans for POV
Nice! I have mixed feelings about the Ray-Ban Meta glasses. They’re a good version one, but I’m looking forward to the next gen and the improvements.
I was literally on best buy last night looking at these wondering which one made more sense for me lol
Great timing 😏
Yay..😅
does pocket 3 have any gimbal issues or issues with the mechanical screen after months?
I personally haven't had any issues, but others have mentioned some.
Does you Pocket 3 handle charge independently? Mine doesnt 🤔
Yep.
Both fantastic products but pick these if you need for what they are purposed for or buy both if you can afford, enjoyed watching 🥳🥳🥳
Ps.
I am very interested in one of the cameras you reviewed, maybe I will buy one of them. Thanks for sharing this great product information
Amazing video. I was already leaning towards the Osmo pocket. Now I’m sold!
but then, the pocket 3 is very good not to deny it, however, why not instead just get the Ai powered gimbal from Insta360 and use the phone to record while having the benefits of the insta360 software?
Thanks for your insight, Peter. I’ll likely cover the sharpness in my next dedicated video about the X4 😊
Do you have a comparison of Pocket 3 & Insta360 Ace Pro?
Nope, but maybe I'll do one...
Does the Insta360 have a LOG profile for coloring?
It's got a Flat profile, but not Log specifically.
Its not log so u cant use lut for log normally ☹️
Great video! Well explained. Keep up the great work!🙂
The Insta360 made me feel like I was in a Busta Rhymes video. The Pocket 3 is one of my favorite gadgets in a long time!
Just question
Have u made gimbal calibration on your pocket 3?
Every time when i am turning on this camera sensor is allways looking into sky and i need to recenter .
No, I've not had to.
@@TamaraGabrielUK ok seems i am not only one with this problem
How about recording outside do you always need to put nd filter at day time ?
Bcoz i see mostly overexposed brightness and nd filter is only solution
You can reduce the exposure by dropping the EV value.
@@TamaraGabrielUK you mean during day time exposure switch to - 0.X or more ? Current exposure is really annoying .Bcoz i also need to go indoors location too .
@allstarbury I have my exposure set to -0.7 EV, whether indoors or out
For straight up vlogging and in low-light (even for studio based video) Osmo is the winner For interesting shoot and compose later stuff in good light, the 360.
For my field of view I mostly used UltraView, but Linear will get rid of that fisheye look and bring things in closer.
@@TamaraGabrielUK thank you for your reply! SUBSCRIBED!
Thank you! this definitely answer the questions on the other video.
👍🏾
I bought the P3 kept it for 2 weeks and returned it. Nice camera. But not weather/water proof and very fragile. One drop and the gimbal and the horizontal screen is damaged.
Processing >.> lol! Great video! Thank you for the insights on these cameras. I was able to come to a decision about which one to get.
Tamara - did you grade or change the output footage at all on the OP# when you state on the screen that its 4k 25 Auto and Normal CP ? Its sooooo damn good
Nope. For this video I didn’t grade the footage for either camera. The footage is exactly as it comes so people can compare both without adjustments.
@@TamaraGabrielUK damn. It pretty good isn’t it. You have amazing content
Thanks ☺️ Yeah, it’s a great camera!
insta 360 has a crappy camera even in bright daylight. Doesnt matter what settings are you doing, you still get huge noise. Dji is the way to go!
The insta360 has weather proofing that makes it better then the pocket 3 if you’re filming around water or in the rain etc
processing.
you helped me filtering the best points out of it..
Processing 🤪 Glad I came across your content! I'm a travel RUclipsr and I'm considering both of these, so I appreciate your comparison.
Do you mean isn’t that great in comparison to the X3 or in general?
@@TamaraGabrielUK the Facebook rant that I read about the X4 made out that generally the quality was just poor, and in some instances the X3 was better. I’d have considered upgrading to the X4, but I just wondered if you’d had experience of both?
@brumcreative I wouldn’t say that the quality is poor from the X4, I was genuinely impressed with it, but it does need good lighting to look good. So I’d be less inclined to use it on an overcast day. I’ll share my X3 and X4 comparison video soon.
Processing!!!!! No thank you. I have the X3 don’t think I’m upgrading. Haven’t used it since I got the Pocket 3 last August…… I love this thing !!!
Excellent video once again. Thank you for making this VS video and showing the differences between the two. ❤🔥🔥
Thanks 😊
You honestly could have the most versatile kit if you had both of these cameras. This would be a do it all kit.
Thanks!
If I did walking tours I’d use the X4 because of the ability to just reframe later.
@@TamaraGabrielUK thank you for your reply 😊😊 cant wait for your next video!
i only have an X2 and a proper small point and shoot camera...ill use the X2 for videos and the camera for photos..
what a great video tamara.. u r so good on there.. keep it up n see u on the next content
Thanks ☺️
First off, you do good reviews, Kudos ! DJI all the way! I will never buy an insta360 product ever after hearing how they want to buy good reviews and tell the people they sponsor they arent sponsored by them. Very bad and shady business practices. Until they change, I will stay away. The product is good enough, they don't need to take these inexcusable actions.
Love the x4 as i love action, adventures,., and dont wanna missed anything arounds you. Both good camera
I have both pocket 3 and insta x3…. they are a different beast… x3 on my bike beats everything… but pocket 3 does everything else
Pocket is one of rhe best filmic and solo shooting and insta360x is great for shooting many people at once.
tbh i can to pretty much with an iphone which P3 can do, but X4 can’t be replaced
Also if you drop both cameras on the floor the osmo head could break easly while the x4 is a box shape which reduce damage .
Seriously? That is a reason to buy the X4 over the P3? Funny! According to the logic I would then no longer buy a camera at all. Because she could fall on the street while out for a walk and be run over by a car.
@@mathiassiebert1217 I’m not saying is a reason to buy I’m just saying one little advantage.
Brilliant review. Thank you!
Thanks!
I can never get the ai tracking to be smooth like that....but I am using the mobile app not Studio
Great review! I'm going to buy the dji pocket 3
Pocket 3 clearly has better image quality but the insta360 is much more flexible, fun, less intrusive in public, and enables much more fun shots.
I had this doubt for a while and ended up choosing the X4 for vlog, travel and b roll
Processing- thanks!
Processing......Great video, thanks! 💕
