  • Members of the Perranarworthal community are celebrating the introduction of Average Speed Cameras on a section of the A39 notorious for speeding drivers.
The cameras are the result of work of the village’s Community Speedwatch Group who have long campaigned for speed reduction measures along the road.
Volunteers from the group have worked with Cornwall Council and Vision Zero South West over several years to carry out regular speed checks, gathering evidence of drivers exceeding the speed limit despite various measures introduced to make road users aware of the 30mph limit.

yeah i've been along this road - there's a bend one millisecond before a 30 sign immediately before a speed camera on the return back to national speed there's a speed camera the same place as the sign back to 60. such a money grabber.

I live in a 40 mph limit in Derbyshire, even the buses don't adhere to it! We have been told that there has to be at least two serious accidents or fatalities, before they will install speed cameras! A speed camera would pay for itself within a couple of weeks and educate a few idiots.
