    OMG! Loved your style of reviewing. You weren't the know-it-all people just spouting a bunch of statistics. You gave lots of info in a Holy-Cow-it-works way. No mathematical formulas to understand appliance labels. Heck no, just plug it in and see if Chris' new toy can power it. Informative and entertaining. Gotta love the trip to mom's for washing clothes (and plugging into her house electric). Love your videos. Thanks for sharing your adventures.

    Cool review guys...
    I run a home solar comapany in Spain and I was really intersested in seeing this video.
    I have seen these systems and always wondered how good they were.
    They seem to be great when used for what they are intended for... LED Lights, laptop/phone charging, LED TV usage.
    They're pretty awesome for that, but not for high power usage like the heater or power tools, you'll just end up killing the lithithum battery... having said that I'm still impressed that they could power the heater/power tools even for just a short time.... but please remember that is not what they are meant for..... :-)

    This was interesting, I never really understood how they work, if they would only operate 12V appliances or could they do regular household appliances too; the time it would take to power them up etc. Connecting solar panels has been explained to me a number of times - way over my head, but this was all so simple. As a technophobe, Portable power stations were always scary until you both demonstrated how easy they were to put together, power up and use. Thank you for the laughs along the way too 🙂 Safe back to the marina, avoid cruisers and bridges !

    • @YaaLFH
      @YaaLFH 9 месяцев назад +1

      These devices are designed for the less technologically minded users!
      Instead of having several separate components like you have on a boat or in a van (batteries, solar charger, mainline charger and inverter) and worrying about how to connect it all together, you have it all packed into a single portable box with clearly marked input and output sockets :)
      The downside is that you can't easily exten the capacity of the built in battery, but it's a good trade for the ease of use.

    • @TheNomadicCrobot
      @TheNomadicCrobot  9 месяцев назад +1

      yes it still boggles my mind, this box does both actually so you can power house hold appliances of it to and at the same time which is pretty cool, thanks for your comment ...fingers crossed there not to many bridges 😂

  • @robaire.b
    @robaire.b 9 месяцев назад

    The important issue on a boat or in a campervan, is whether it still functions while it is charging (e.g connected to the roof solar panels etc). Inexplicably many power stations stop working and providing power when charging. I wonder if the Aferiy has the same problem - a very big drawback for many users and the only way around it is to have two units and keep unplugging them from the solar panels. I know the Anker Solix f2000 for example does carry on working while charging.

    Portable Solar Power Station QUESTION:
    In a completely off grid scenario,
    (ie. only Solar Panels to recharge),
    Can this (or any other),
    portable solar power station,
    be programmed to automatically
    turn ON the AC Outlet circuit,
    once the battery is sufficiently charged,
    WITHOUT human intervention, ???
    So that it can automatically provide
    power to any AC connected items,
    without having to go to the remote location.
    For Example:
    If there is a shed located
    in the middle of a corn field,
    where grid power does not exist,
    a portable solar power station,
    could provide power
    to a camera NVR system,
    for security.
    If the battery ever run out of energy,
    the next day after the solar panels
    recharge the batteries to a sufficient level,
    I would like the AC Outlets,
    to automatically turn on,
    allowing the NVR to boot, and begin recording, without any intervention by me.
    Who makes a unit that offers this functionality?
    What Brand, and Model?
    What is a search term that can be used in google to search for this capability?
    thx

    Not sure man, a small diesel generator gives instant power day and night 24/7.
    Crude oil and biproducts we have in an abundance as is.
    So nah, batteries may be good.
    But fossil fuel is far more cooler and reliable:)

      Don't think so. I wouldn't know about new ideas or products if there weren't reviews. Hey, Chris and Becca didn't spout scientific mumbo jumbo. They just plugged things in and pushed buttons. No sales pitch. If I like and can use a reviewed product, I do my research.

      iv always wanted one for the Narrowboat so jumped at the chance to review one, id actually like to review more Narrowboat items, it gives narrowboaters a chance to see what products are like before they buy something

    Gets given 1k worth of power bank and solar panel… Gives a positive review… Who’d have guessed… Oh and then basically ‘covertly’ asks for the 400watt panel 😉… Any review where a product is gifted is basically an advert…

      Don't think I heard them say anything that isn't true. I have no problem watching reviews of gifted products. Most videos show how a product is used which is very helpful. Then, it's up to me to decide if it suits my needs. Then, my research begins. Without reviews, I wouldn't even know products are available.

    • @TheNomadicCrobot

      its just a small review of how a narrowboat product works, we always try when offered to review items that would be useful to fellow narrow boaters as I would like to see how that worked too on a boat....saying that if I was offered a Ferrari who knows what would happen
