I like the looks of both especially the Lincoln star logo on back on the 2014. People are still driving the previous model years as the 2015 to the present 2019 model year.
My 2006 Lincoln Town Car has a V-8 & average about 25 highway or maybe can get more. I've only driven once on a road trip & did very well in my opinion.
So u get a v6 you 22 city but v8 gets 21 so whats the difference still getting the same no difference and the 2015 looks cheap like all other new cars n the front also looks like any other car this days
@@roshi7448 Agreed. I like the V8. Indestructible if you update the valve train and timing components. I do like the back lights of the 4th gen more then the 3rd though.
I would never call an ecoboost a vast improvement over anything! Seriously. That 2014 model will keep on going long after the new one has had a few engine swaps already!
I like the 2014 model styling more. I may be biased because I worked as a porter at a Lincoln dealer when that generation was sold new and drove these all the time. It was my first time driving a luxury SUV... well my fist time driving such a large SUV. I still want one, such a glorious automobile!
I have had a 2012 Navigator for five years and love it. I'd have a hard time moving from a V8 to V6 with turbo. Just doesn't seem right for such a large SUV. I'll stay with my V8. Definitely the 2014.
I just bought an 05 Navi last week, I was debating for a while and the newer ones just don't have the look I want (plus, V8 is gone now) so I started to look at GM's previous generation Escalade and Denali and I just couldn't pull the trigger because of the 3rd row seating. To have a comfortable 3rd row in those trucks i had to go with the longer versions (don't like the look of a long SUV) so I started looking at older Navigators and seeing as it came with almost everything these came with but at a $6000 price tag, I couldn't pass it up. So I got my 6spd auto, I got my 8,600lb towing capacity, I got my automatic tail gate. Only things I need to do to bring it up to the current times (these trucks) is a touch screen stereo with a back up camera which I found for $140 and some better looking wheels that are bigger than the factory 17" alloys.
I actually like this new navigator. Very stylish, not overdone. The ecoboost v6 was a wise choice too. Overall very nice, can't complain. Another good review TFLC!
How can I donate a one time lump sum and not do a monthly payment? I enjoy your video reviews and mashups and I do not want to see my favorite YT channel to disappear. Thanks guys and I hope you reply back. Cheers from Seattle!
I've had a 2014 for almost a year as well as a 15 Expedition. Both cars are great. Yes, the 15 is peppier and gets better mileage (13/14 vs 11/12). I prefer the luxury of the Navigator and believe it will last many, many miles (I have in the mid 70s now.) The turbo's longevity remains to be seen. Either way - much nicer than the GMs.
I'm 39....but I'm old school... and I got the 2008, and I love that style... it's classic and HARDCORE LOOK ROCKS!! The 2015 looks like a pussy, pardon my word of choice, but it really does. I made sure to stay away because I'm a big v8 5.4 fan. Mpg not an issue for me. Only one thing I do like about the newer style is the taillights. That's it. The chrome and front, along with old style classic design or interior being mixed with newer design ROCKS on the 2014 style!!!
You and me/my Dad are on the same exact page. My Dad bought a 2014 model with 120 miles on it. He was going to get a 2015 model, but he didn’t like the design, but he really got pushed away from the 2015 model when the sales person said the 2015 model didn’t have a V8. 7 and a half years later and 65,000 miles, we couldn’t be happier with it. It’s been super reliable and we’ve done 8 road trips comfortably in it! The Ecoboost has more issues than the 5.4 so I have no regrets.
Very minimal I've had my 2013 Lincoln to this day if you give it love it will take care of you too just don't forget those oil changes, brakes, ets. don't install mods like cutouts muflers it will messup with the air exaust pressure timing and destroy your engine
MichaelAChang now you talking. So true. the car rental place up here in the michigan area that services the airport is already complaining about problems with the ‘15’s. I would stick with the 14’s all day.
Ford, please get your facts straight. 2015 suburban and Tahoe get 23mpg in 2x4 and 22 in 4x4 config. We know u think your ecoboost is the most up to date, but it's not. So please don't lie
I'm planning on looking at one Sat at our local Cadillac dealer of this same model year. I'll have my Town Car paid for which not ready to make payments for a whole but want to research & compare to the Cadillac Escalade which I'll also look at a 2011 model year. I've never driven ether one but see so many of them on road also in this video both model year Navigator's look very nice & I do see the previous model years on road wheather young or older people driving them. Excellent video btw.
Wow! IRS?! That's something to be excited about! That's been on cars costing over $70,000 for over ten years...guess I its not all that exciting after all.
I look for ride quality, quietness, low NVH and looks for my luxury SUV. Would you pick this, Roman, over the Yukon Denali if you use the above criteria?
I HATE the gauges of the 2015 navigator the 2014’s are way nicer and way more classy looking, also the 2015 should have had an 8 speed automatic and ditched the 6 speed those are the only reasons why I don’t like the 2015 Lincoln Navigator 🤷🏻♂️
Is that short or long wheelbase option? If it's short then sure it has more cargo room than a Yukon or Escalade but if it's long, then the Yukon XL and Escalade ESV have much more room behind the third row.
This is better than the Escalade and Yukon in terms of price and features. It would be better if it had an 8 speed automatic transmission, while retaining the towing capacity.
There are things I really like about this new Navigator and things l like about the Escalade. Unfortunately neither gives me the perfect vehicle. The Navigator has the better interior packaging thanks to the IRS and a better infotainment set up. The Escalade has more leather and wood choices and more technology aboard. It's a tough choice, I'd prefer a vehicle that gets it all right.
Maybe it's just me, but not having the V8 Burly Exhaust Note in such large car, feels weird O_o. Yah The Ecoboost v6 better gas, but hey you don't get these for good gas consumption. You get it for luxury and power. V8s FTW!!!
I still don't get why Lincoln Engineers have to downgrade from a 5.4L V8 to a Twin-Turbo V6. Yes the number are great on the Ecoboost. But in reality, the Navigator is suppose to go against the Escalade which has a 6.2L V8 producing 420 HP and can run on 4 cylinders for better fuel economy with its variable valve timing. If the Navigator had the same 6.2L found in the Raptor, then the Navigator would be a competitor against the Escalade or even the Yukon Denali. Plus the V8 sounds better on the Navigator.
Sorry..but other than a new front and rear..the interior looks almost identical to the old one..with very little change. And that front end could have been made to look better..because it actually looks pretty cheap and small compared to the new Cadillac Escalade. I've always been a Lincoln person..but when it comes to SUV's..the Cadillac Escalade looks much richer and more premium than this Navigator. This Navigator just looks cheap by comparison. Fire that designer Ford and hire a good one next time..because you basically just made the Cadillac Escalade the winner on looks alone..without even going into the better interior or more powerful engine it has.
If your argument to buy a luxury vehicle over another is or includes "because it costs less" you are missing the point. If that were really a determining factor Hyundai and Kia would have run away it is years ago and people would buy the dressed up trim levels of Chevys, Toyotas, and the like instead of paying about twice as much of a similar sized and often powerful BMW, Mercedes, or Audi. But given that this is basically the same 10+ year old vehicle just updated, costing less is just a end result. the all-new Navigator should be along in a year or two. I am still a bit irked that FORD did not invest in a more advances V8 and I do think that old and new school Luxury buyers are going to be disappointed that a big luxury vehicle, like the Navigator, does NOT have the latest iteration of a V8, with the latest tech to make the core of the engine better not just adding Turbos to get around making actual technical and technological advancement. But that's me. I like V8s and I know if FORD, GM, and CHRYSLER really decided to they could make V12s and find someplace to put them in regular production.
Hi Roman luv your show but here is thought , how you guys talk about quality in cars ,some manufacturers only put quality only in places you see how places you don't typically see unless you are a serious car guy ie under the dash , and btw Lincoln have the ugliest tail pipe they look like an after thought
That truck is going to weigh considerably less than the Navigator, and will have a 2.7L TT V6 instead of the 3.5L. I'd expect much, much better fuel economy and power figures close to the current F150's 3.5L
***** What's the purpose of having two twin turbo V6s AND the V8? I'd have expected either a naturally aspirated six or the ecoboost 4 banger as the lowest power engine.
***** I've done a decent amount of research about the Ecoboost 3.5 and I know that although it makes very nice power and torque for it's size (and actually good power period) it doesn't really get the fuel economy that is claimed in the real world. I've also heard enough reliability complaints to keep me away. Besides that, although the turbo whistle is nice, it's otherwise one of the worst and weakest SOUNDING V6s I've ever heard. Reliability and actually achieving advertised fuel economy seem to be common complaints with every Ecoboost vehicle, from the Fusion to the F150. I'm not bashing them by any means, and fuel economy problems mostly stem from people not being able to keep them out of boost IMO, I just think they need a little work. Anyway, my point was originally ONLY that I was under the impression the 3.5 was being supplanted by the 2.7 in search of even better MPG.
The Ecoboost makes more power than 90% of V8s that come in factory stock SUV's and trucks. Torque is what matter to truck people and at 460 ft lbs it equal to the 6.2 liter Eco Tec GM puts in it's high class SUV's and trucks except the Ecoboost is offered with all trim levels so more people are going to own it. As far as reliability the Ecoboost has not had that many problems, the main one is condensation collecting in the intercooler which in turn created misfires this was fixed by a recent reflash. As far as fuel economy it gets 1-2 mpg better than modern V8s, but yeah it sounds like shit lol.
Lincoln needs to be more like Cadillac and say bump you Ford. We're going to make this our ride and not a Ford in a suit anymore. They should really bring up their style and class. They should be the America Rang Rover or something close to it with style, luxury, tech, and emotion what I think.
I'm glad Lincoln finally did SOMETHING with the Navigator but until the new one comes this one is just meh...I'd rather have just about anything else in the segment.
he keep saying the 14 is premium Ford. wrong! the Navigator always was way better than having an Expedition. the 14 navigator is better than the 17 Expedition Platinum because the Platinum stole it's options from the Navigator anyway. No matter how old or new the Navigator is each generation is unique in its own way. But the only difference between the 14 & 15 is, the 15 has a v6, no longer an option for air ride system & and it's redesigned. cargo space & interior is almost pretty much the same. both third row goes down with push of a button & both share the same options. power liftgate (he tried to make it look like the 14 didn't have power liftgate but it do)... Low leveling system, etc...
It really depends on your price point and what you mean by SUV. www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/byclass/2015ClassList.shtml All around, I would say the Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with the 3.0L EcoDiesel is the best at around $41k. Its a full size SUV, and does not do it with more expensive hybrid options.
Kevin Smith the new grand cherokee or durango 25 mpg highway I think is good cause they are big or something smaller 2014 cherokee 3.2 trail hawk 4WD 27 mpg highway, the cherokee looks lot better in real life than one the Internet
It makes sense to sell this car at $50-60k class. $70 puts you in the neighborhood of Mercedes-Benz GL, Range Rover Sport, and BMW X5. And they are far superior luxury cars.
Is it because u have one? Lol jk my mom has 2014 and my dad has l model 2016. My mom gave my sister the 2014 and for her bday my dad got her a 2016 navigator regular length one my. Love them both
No the 3.5 liter Ecoboost has more power than most V8s, I think he said 380 horse and 460 ft lbs of torque which is improved over the 2014 Ecoboost by 15 horse power and 40 pound feet of torque.
Wisconsin Wildman ah I see. I wasn't sure how the engine would be categorized mechanically. It's cool to see that Ford has uncovered such an innovation though.
I agree, it's great to have more power than 95% of V8s and 20% better fuel economy or more. I owned a 2011 F-150 with a Ecoboost and liked it a lot more over the big V8s that I have owned in previous trucks. It's a win win situation.
Wisconsin Wildman still i prefer a 5.4L , 5.0L or a 6.2L engines instead of 3.5L with twin turbos on the navigator that's why 2016 model will have new interior & maybe new V8 engine .
He selling this new as better because he has to. He can't get the engineer on this video say the older is better!! It's called conforming to the masses. 😃🤣
Just traded my Ecoboost f150 for a 2012 navigator. Nothing beats a good old fashioned 5.4 V8. Yeah the interior is a little dated, but it does feel like you're in an older yacht. No regrets here on my "downgrade". Feels like an upgrade to me, especially when I look at my bank account.
Yeah but it doesn't have to be an obvious premium version of Ford. When you see a Navigator, you DON'T HAVE TO think it's a premium version of the Expedition. I mean the Escalade obviously looks like a rebadged Tahoe/Yukon but the Navigator looks much more different and unique, and it doesn't look like a rebadged Expedition
@@AJay0404 Thank You! I drive a Lincoln Navigator and so often, people that don't drive a luxury vehicle or people that drive Fords LOVE to make that comment🤔😂. It's NOT the same, but whatever helps them sleep at night works for me. I went out with a guy that drives a Ford and he made that comment so much, that I got tired of hearing it. It's like they want to play down or down grade your whip. Really doesn't matter at the end of the day. However, if it says Expedition, it's a FORD EXPEDITION. If it says Navigator, it's a LINCOLN NAVIGATOR.
No. Lincoln started in the past as an own unique brand and ford bought it later on ( in1922 ). Lincoln is the luxury part of Ford and not a premium Ford.
Well they did but you have to think that the navigator is a more luxurious version of the Expedition, it's not an "independent" vehicle. It has to be similar to the Expedition. Think of it as the Escalade or Yukon to the Suburban. Both more luxurious versions of the suburban.
They should also put the 5.0 V-8 in. Truck based SUV's must have V-8's, not V-6's. I have read that people up in the mountains are having issues with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine. Apparently the turbos wear out easily.
especially when you mass produce an engine and turbos, some are going to have problems, I've even heard problems with cvt transmissions in the mountains, having the car redline the whole way up, but ya the 5.0L would have been a good option!
I never get sick and tired of that Lincoln dashboard, and the interior and exterior. I still got my second gen Lincoln Navigator and I won't trade that thing . If the motor ever goes out I'm putting on a new one
It's clear where Lincoln is investing its money. They are going for the growing segments with vehicles like the MKZ, MKX, and MKC. Old school SUVs aren't as trendy or profitable as they once were. Besides, Cadillac and other luxury brands dominate the market. This type of spending helps explains why Ford didn't need bailout money.
Maybe more people would buy Lincolns if they knew what they were called. All these damn three letter codes and I couldn't tell you what ANY of them were, but I can identify all of their Ford siblings or the equivalent model from GM. If they still had real names I think they'd sell more.
desertfox2020 I agree with you. I think an actual name helps customers create an emotional attachment to the brand. Names like Town Car and Continental still have meaning with traditional buyers. For some reason today's generation relate letters and numbers with luxury.
J Lew Well I'm only 20 years old. You make an interesting point about luxury brands in general, though. I didn't consider it before, but off the top of my head, save for Cadillac, all of the luxury brands use letters and numbers. The majority of them always have. Lincoln has only recently joined the likes of Mercedes, Lexus, and BMW who have NEVER used actual words to name their cars.
Ford DID take bailout money, ever wonder why they were bich slapped by the government to take down the "anti-bailout" commercial? Because they took TARP funds. Ergo, Loans. Just like GM.
I have an old ass 08. It still rides good though....just used gas like crazy but if I cruise at 70 I can get almost 21 on the highway, if I do above that it drops to 18.
At 9:42 when he asked the question about a "V8" not being available, she never answered the question (she pulled a Kelly Anne Conway). Listen for it...
I would rather have a 2014 Navigator then the 2015. Can't get over the V8.
Fordisbetter2 have fun going broke on gas
Exactly.. among many other aspects..
Alex Nuñez if u can afford a navigator gas doesn’t really matter
Alex Nuñez yeah 2 mpg better is totally worth completely downgrading the engine

Tons of Navi and Expo on the road still now, many with over 200k.

I guess we know the specs to the 2015 F-150 with the Ecoboost now, or a ballpark figure!!
V8 is the best
the front end and the wheels on the 2015 do not fit
I'm glad Lincoln finally did SOMETHING with the Navigator but until the new one comes this one is just meh...I'd rather have just about anything else in the segment.
Unless you work for Ford or Lincoln, it's hard to see why anyone would buy this over the Denali line.
my 04 expedition has a lot of similar parts as this
$60,000? Thats some really expensive plastic.
I wish they had V8 option in the new ones
These cars compared to the new navigator are like garbage and not garbage
Lincoln needs to clean house & fire all of their designers, these new cars look horrible.
he keep saying the 14 is premium Ford. wrong! the Navigator always was way better than having an Expedition. the 14 navigator is better than the 17 Expedition Platinum because the Platinum stole it's options from the Navigator anyway.
The old one beautiful but the new one man that grill is really ugly
The ford expedition competes against this too!
Brands don't compete with themselves
dude the Navigator and the Expedition are on the same platform and run on the same engine.
NihselAuto the navi the most powerful version of the 3.5l ecoboost
Jack Frost tuned up version of the 3.5L v6 to sum it up.
Yup
Anybody know what the song was at 0:43?
Im a Ford Guy but im not sure i would take this over an Escalade.
Wow Lincoln way to steal the racetrack style tail lamps from the Dodge Durango... That's original.
Love the new one!
What SUV has the best mpg? I'm getting a SUV so just wondering thanks !
It really depends on your price point and what you mean by SUV.
www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/byclass/2015ClassList.shtml
All around, I would say the Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with the 3.0L EcoDiesel is the best at around $41k. Its a full size SUV, and does not do it with more expensive hybrid options.
Kevin Smith the new grand cherokee or durango 25 mpg highway I think is good cause they are big or something smaller 2014 cherokee 3.2 trail hawk 4WD 27 mpg highway, the cherokee looks lot better in real life than one the Internet
wow the 2014 dash looks like its from the 80s
I actually would prefer a 2015 Expedition over these two.
mercedes Gl class anyone?
It makes sense to sell this car at $50-60k class. $70 puts you in the neighborhood of Mercedes-Benz GL, Range Rover Sport, and BMW X5. And they are far superior luxury cars.
Not feeling that instrument cluster
Back to the 90s with the new Lincoln navigator... Cant believe people actually buy this crap
I think this is the last vehicle I'd ever want to own.
The only thing going for it was the v8...
2014 lincoln NAVIGATOR IS BETTER
Is it because u have one? Lol jk my mom has 2014 and my dad has l model 2016. My mom gave my sister the 2014 and for her bday my dad got her a 2016 navigator regular length one my. Love them both
HScoper7 The new navs has lost the luxury look in my opinion
dank memes so true.
Lol vehicles are just setup to be a pain in the ass once it hits a few years olds those seats are gonna be a bitch in a few years.
So is the ecoboost equivalent to a V6?
Wisconsin Wildman
still i prefer a 5.4L , 5.0L or a 6.2L engines instead of 3.5L with twin turbos on the navigator that's why 2016 model will have new interior & maybe new V8 engine .
The red one looks too much like a Ford. If I wanted a Ford suv I would buy one. Would pick the 2014 model hands down
I still like the 2014 model
Jay Polo yup, too little chrome on the new one, the new navs look too fordish and don't have that luxury look
He selling this new as better because he has to. He can't get the engineer on this video say the older is better!! It's called conforming to the masses. 😃🤣
The 2014 is nice looking & yes very attractive with the chrome on front.
third row seat will always beat Gm
Travon Turner not anymore with the 2021s
@@levithompson6281 2021’s your knees still sit to high compared to Ford’s.
The older one is a lot prettier. The guys who made the new ones need to be fired they have no style, they should make asien crap.
I agree 100 percent.
"Premium Ford"
Isn't that what the Lincoln brand technically is?
Lincoln is the luxury part of Ford and not a premium Ford.
i feel like lincoln should redo the navigator inside and out
good point!
2016 navigator will have new interior this one just a refresh .
Tungsten23 I had no idea. They did a good job keeping that quiet. Thanks for the info.
I have an old ass 08. It still rides good though....just used gas like crazy but if I cruise at 70 I can get almost 21 on the highway, if I do above that it drops to 18.
I'd like to see Ford completely redesign the Expedition and Navigator using the new F150 platform and aluminum body.
More power, more torque, less reliable. Keep it.
Yep
I have heard a lot of problems with that ecoboost engine
At 9:42 when he asked the question about a "V8" not being available, she never answered the question (she pulled a Kelly Anne Conway). Listen for it...
I love my 2012 limited edition
