    They failed to mention one factor - the Navigator is just about the only vehicle with a 3rd row that will really seat adults comfortably (the third row in an Escalade is cramped by comparison). Also, the second row is about the widest possible bench seat you can get anywhere. Three kids in booster seats will easily fit in the second row with plenty of elbow room between them. Finally, they exaggerate the price. You can get one for under $60k if you don't load it up with 4wd, or get the extended length version.

    Although not the prettiest, the Navigator rides great and has a commanding view of the road. The profile is stodgy, but those windows are huge and gives so much visibility all around the truck. The seats are very comfortable and the interior is roomy and quiet. And that EcoBoost engine pulls so strongly you won't miss the old V8. It also doesn't lose power at high altitudes. It just keeps pulling without a hiccup. We love to rent this truck when we drive long distance with the family. We plan on buying one soon and don't care about it looking "old" and "dated". Function over fashion.

    Ive rented both the Slade and Navi for road trips and prefer the Nav for its smooth ride and ability to gobble up highway miles. The Escalade rides more firm and is hard to get that buttery ride you may want on a road trip. Its not a problem just a preference. Both are great rides. I prefer the interior of the Cadi. If i could only take from each...

      Like you I've driven both from Chicago to upstate new York and the navigator was in-f'ng sane power wise, it was like having a raised up Corvette with all that power, the miles floated by effortlessly and pretty much was like sitting on your couch comfort. The Escalade was not nearly as powerful but inside if you wanted to be picky was little nicer far as trim and wood whereas the navigator had glove box outta F-150 and couple spots void of wood or stitching but come aaawn? Unless your nuts I'd get the battleship with rocket engine and couch as seating, the other thing is stigma, driving the Escalade made me feel like a filthy Puerto Rican who sold woman and bunk weed while changing my plates to avoid repo man in my hood from stealing my whip, it also had cup holders specially sized for 40oz malt liquor bottles which was weird and didn't handle the deeper snow as well as the Navigator. Power, comfort and folks not assuming your pitbull will come storming outta the back is my thing.

    I think the feedback on the Navi has been unfair. Lest not forget how Caddies were overpriced Chevys not too long ago. Only recently they have finally achieved Euro-like prestige and quality.
    The MKZ, MKC, and the upcoming MKX are indicators of Lincoln heading toward a good path. The Navigator is the next runner-up, with a temporary "refreshment" to satisfy prospective buyers. The Navi shines in the interior and MyLincoln+Sync, which I love in my MKZ. Leather is top-notch, seats comfortable, more 3rd row leg-room and cargo room, and more towing.
    It's a step forward, just not a leap yet

    I love my fords,but the comparison between the Navigator and current Escalade doesn't even come close. more like comparing apples to oranges. the Escalade hands down is a much better vehicle. seeing it in person is where it counts . the Navigator is a dated design that dates back to 2003.the only difference (externally ) from the 2003-2014 is the nose and rear.even the dashboard is a carryover. they killed off all of their V8s (which was not a good idea). I love my Ecoboost V6 platinum, but that engine should only be for pickup truck duty as an available option. the Navigator should have came equipped with the raptors 6.2L V8 .and now it's officially dead in half ton duty.

    I feel like ford doesn't know what to do with Lincoln one of problems with Lincoln is that people like the ford logo more and besides that what is the point of a Lincoln navigator when you can get a ford expedition platinum trim level with nearly all the same options. ford has tried to make Lincoln more appealing by offering exclusive crossovers but even that seems to not be enough for where Lincoln wants to be.

      Ponygt 662 I do commend ford for some of the victories they have made but they still have a ways to go. btw Cadillac isn't doing too well either they're in nearly the same boat as Lincoln which is they are viewed as old people cars.

    • @ponygt6629

      Jump oricakle
      I think you really dont know whats happening around, just look at the new Lincoln continental concept thatz 94% production ready shown in NYAS, it looks stunnimg and ready to take on Audi A8,BMW 7,Jag XJ, not quiet as good adS Class still, very much the luxury car Ford needed it to be,
      Also Lincoln is growing very well in China where it gets great start, Cadillac is dead in Europe true and in USA too its just OK, but I appreciate their commintment to light weight cars and cheap affordable luxury, they are getting better and better,
      In China Cadillac sells as good as The Big German 3

    • @MrTblackmon
      @MrTblackmon 9 лет назад +1

      ***** - the mere of an Escalade is absolutely a GMC Yukon Denali. In short - the Cadillac Escalade has the same powertrain, magnetic ride control, design, similar headlights and interior as the GMC Yukon Denali, so what is your point?

    • @gary_beniford
      @gary_beniford 9 лет назад

      Ponygt 662 performance wise I doubt they can beat the strong German competition but I have no doubt they will sell many cars in china since Chinese love luxury cars of nearly every brand so long as it looks expensive.

    The Escalade is on another level compared to this. Never been a Lincoln fan. I bought a Lincoln Mark 8 back in 1998 when it first came out and it was one of the worst cars ever. I know there trying but i also know they can do so much better. All the experts say Cadillac is about 10years ahead of Lincoln

    i dont know about this but the 2016 has independent rear suspension unlike any other big suv

  • @TheSimpleObserver
    @TheSimpleObserver 9 лет назад +10

    G.M. Cadillac is always playing catch up with Ford Lincoln:
    Lincoln did heated cooled seats first
    Lincoln had real wood interior, not plastic
    Lincoln had true fold flat rear seats, Cadillac still does not
    Lincoln had to wave foot under rear bumper thing before Cadillac (Ford Escape had it first)
    Lincoln has four wheel independent suspension, G.M. still does not
    If you ride in the back of a Lincoln you don’t feel like you are on the floor, unlike Cadillac
    Lincoln had the power side step first, and Cadillac copied it, so if you don’t like Ford’s you don’t like G.M.’s
    Lincoln will not rust quite as fast as Cadillac, that G.M. is better at.
    Cadillac now had less buttons on dash, something everyone else learned that the customer does not want. But years later G.M. puts it in the Escalade.

    • @erichaley4485
      @erichaley4485 8 лет назад

      as a ford loyal owner,your points against GM sound rather highschool in nature. I actually like what GM has done with their current offerings . and the Escalade is a much better vehicle than the Navigator. I know that sounds blasphemous, but it is a much superior vehicle. although I love my platinum F150 with Ecoboost, the Navigator needs a V8. their asking price for such a vehicle doesn't warrants such an engine. as for GM keeping a solid axle? I don't blame them. some people do love to take their sport utes off roading. And as for the side steps? that's funny that you would make a childish rant. Cadillacs had power trunk pull downs way back since 1957,and Lincolns finally started adopting the old school technology in the mid 80s,but nobody said anything. technology is used and spread around to all car makers. your childish rants makes me laugh.

    • @TheSimpleObserver

    • @erichaley4485
      @erichaley4485 8 лет назад

      +Mark M (MMA) all of that technology you listed was already being used by other automakers such as BMW,And Audi to name a few. you obviously are biased and making a childish rant based on your ignorant viewpoints against Cadillacs. I've driven them both and will honestly say that the new Escalade is a much better vehicle. Secondly, you don't have to take my word for it. I suggest that you drive them both before you make a high school fan boy remark. Cadillac had night vision technology in 2000. something Lincoln never had. although Cadillac doesn't have it currently, but they had it. same for magnetic shocks. something Lincoln still doesn't have. or what about displacement on demand? yes it was a failed attempt back in 1981. but it is a technology used by GM and Chrysler today. cadillac started using fuel injection before Lincoln in 1975 Seville.what about transverse front wheel drive mounted V8s? or automatic leveling system (again another Cadillac first ) or automatic dimming headlights,power trunk pull down,heated seats (1957 technology ) but again it was something not heard back then from a Lincoln. shall I continue? what about doing your research on a 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham.it might surprise you. 1957 Eldorado Cadillacs had suicide doors. Lincolns came back with it in 1961. Although there were cars using suicide doors from both Cadillacs and Lincolns in the 1930s,and 40s,this wasn't anything to brag about considering both car companies were both started by THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY. HENRY LELAND STARTED BOTH CADILLAC AND LINCOLN. don't believe me? read up on it. have a nice day

    • @TheSimpleObserver
      @TheSimpleObserver 8 лет назад

      +Eric Haley Wow, fun banter. Not going to get caught up in that now.
      If memory serves me Leland started Lincoln because of the lack of support Cadillac was giving the war effort.
      My childish point in April was that at the time lots of press was being given to Cadillac for coming out with "new" upgrades, not seen in the class at the time.

    I don't think adding the glitz to the overly outdated body is anymore attractive than it was 10 years ago... It's an aged model with a fancy front ended...Ford should just discontinue Lincoln, and add new models to the their offerings and updated the Expedition as well. Everything else fired makes looks fresher than Lincolns unpopular offerings...

      rangerover06sc personally I think it looks too much like an explorer and the interior quality is not up too part when comparing to others in its class.

      troybballin14 Yes, but you pay a lot more for that better interior. And if you need the capability of a full size SUV the navigator is a pretty appealing package.

    MOTORWEEK, …. why didn't you state the fuel economy of this out of date dinosaur?

      Rudy F
      The Fuel economy is 22 highway, which is better than it's body on frame competitors from Lexus and Infiniti and the same as the Escalade. It also gets 16 city which is better than any other full sized body-on-frame SUV.

    it's literly a Ford flex

      +cdude100 It's not. The Flex is a crossover with a significant design difference, as well as major differences in other specifics like towing capacity, gas mileage, and cargo space. The Navigator is a luxury clone of the Expedition.

      The Lincoln MKT is based on the Ford Flex.
