No spare tire is a deal breaker for me, I got stranded at 2am and waited 3 hours for a tow when my sidewall was damaged after hitting a pothole, the fix a flat was useless !!! Never would take a vehicle with no spare with my family on a road trip.
I bought a Thule roof box to get around the spare situation for road trips. They also have hitches you can purchase. I'm not too worried about a spare in the city.
The CRV just does everything good. Plus it’s the only compact crossover that most men can fit in comfortably, front and rear seats. AWD does great in the Midwest winter and they last forever.
I’ve owned a 23 crv hybrid and a 23 rav4 hybrid. Real world mpg is better on the rav4 by 5+ especially on road trips. Crv engine noise is a lot louder and more annoying. interior on crv is nicer and more spacious but does not have as many options. Rav has a spare tire which was a deal sealer for me. Also Toyotas have so many junk port installed add ons that raise the price by $2k. There are no port add ons and seemingly less dealer add ons for crv so real world price is a good amount cheaper
It's nice to get a more practical review on vehicles. Not the fastest. Not the gadgiest. Not the flashiest. But darn it a very good reliable and practical car that makes financial sense to own for 10+ years for those that keep their cars for the long haul. These types of cars gets shame among car reviewers bc they're "boring", but maybe boring is a good thing if comfortable and dependable to live with daily. Need more of these types of reviews.
I had a 1st gen CRV 1998. Bullet proof and trend setting. Had it 18 years then sold to a friend. I moved on to a a RAV4 and Forester but would consider another CRV.
I want to like it but I don't want a black or grey interior (only options), there are no ventilated seats at any price, the gas mileage is great but the vehicle is slow. When did they start making an Accord with AWD as stated in the video? I have owned 5 Hondas in my life and it WAS my go to vehicle. My dealership experience has not been helpful with my dreadful infotainment experience and Honda is not what it used to be. Sorry about that, but I am going to pass for a while (and its a shame) until Honda works its way back up the reliability scale. The interior size is roomy and the ideal size. Just my 2 cents.
Purely Ancedotal, took a walk in my neighborhood yesterday counted 8 CRVS, 6 Rav 4s, 8 Foresters, and in Spokane you can't walk a block without tripping over a Subaru
Great review Jen. I have a 17 CRV with 120,000 miles….runs like the day I bought it. Just keep up with the maintenance….5000 mile oil change, 30,000 mile tranny tune up and it will last. Plan on a new one in 2025 but no hybrid. Too expensive. One correction….you mentioned an all wheel drive Accord ….they do not make an all wheel drive accord but they do make the hybrid Accord. Nevertheless, enjoyed the review !
Yup agree...overall the CRV and the sister from a different mother, RAV4 are the same vehicle offering...great value, great fuel economy, spacious and a really low total cost of ownership. Best 2 small SUVs IMO on the market today. Great review and love the daily use case summary...good to see Trader Joe parking lots are universally the same in every state.

@ That's interesting, for example when I closed the door of the Forester, there was a solid thud, not so on the CR-V or RAV4. Also, I plan on doing so soft road over landing so the Symetrical all wheel drive fit my needs better. I've own Toyota's and Honda's and they are good vehicles, this is my first Subaru.
I feel like the Honda CRV lost all of it's soul as soon as they lost the spare wheel mounted on the back. Coincidentally, that's also when the CRV when from an SUV to crossover
I find myself watching and enjoying all the reviews featuring Jen and Mary. Very fun. I have a 2010 Accord that's been as reliable as the sunrise but I'm worried about buying any new Honda with all the recent reliability horror stories. Couldn't i get a Passport for around 42k, though? Seems like the CRV has gotten too expensive if it competes against its big brother. Ridgeline is really what i want, though.
Not crazy about CVT, but that is probably just in my head as I cant find any real complaints about it. The fake exhaust in the rear is also not a big deal. I get they went for symmetry. But the two front fake ones are ridiculous. I hate them. And then there’s the lack of a spare. Not for me. It’s actually a deal killer.
Boring to me. I like the quirky 2017 Forester that I own. It's great in the snow, easy to see out of, has simple controls, and my local dealership is actually a nice place to visit for service.

"Of course, Honda isn't the only manufacturer to move into turbocharged engines." They just joined the club of manufacturers that flushed reliability down the corporate toilet.

Are the rear seat door panels almost entirely hard plastic, like they are in every other current Honda? They really ought to match the fronts. Honda’s blatant, cynical cost cutting has been a real disappointment lately, and that’s coming from someone who’s bought 3 new Hondas/Acuras.
It's definately overrated. The 1.5t is a turd and their hybrid system is lack luster. The problem is the only other quality hybrid until recent was the rav, which is a shitbox in comparison interior wise. Now that the cx50 hybrid exists, I would hope sales of these go down and go to mazda, it truely is the best in class overall being a great interior, great to drive and toyota's quality powertrain
0-60 in nearly 8 seconds is terrible in 2025! Thats dangerous for how fast most cars are able to go nowadays. How is it so slow with a hybrid? Also for comparison, a 96 Camry LE V6 has a 0-60 of 7.74 seconds. The CRV is overrated imo. I'm so over people wanting a high riding position when a Civic hatch would suffice
AWD Accord doesn’t exist, let alone at $35k. Accord has more room and space when it comes to seating. You take this same CR-V and then drive the Accord Touring. The CR-V feels completely gutless. The extra weight and AWD really slows it down even more. Neither one are race cars in the least. Accord 0-60 6.4 seconds and CR-V 0-60 7.9 seconds.
Too expensive for so few bells and whistles. Bought a Toyota Rav4 PHEV instead. Much better value for the money (after $7,500 EV credit) and 50 miles of EV range is perfect around town. Finally put gas in it after 2k miles
All of the new Hondas are definite lookers. Manly or sth. The old ones with chrome looks so stereotypically 2010 era Japanese, they were an eyesore. And the ones that looked different (Civic Type R, Si) were so cheesy af.

All of the syling you pointed out in the beginning of the video means nothing to the CRV target audience. They don't care. They aren't car people. We went to CarMax and tried all the small SUVs. The CRV was the most spacious inside.
People like simple and reliable cars with good resale value! Instead most manufacturers offer ultraexpensive, complicated and unreliable cars!
I recently purchased this exact car & it does everything right.
I’m 6’5 & fit fine.
It’s quiet, very smooth & drives really well.
I love it.
