A beautiful classic with a message of peace,, love,, brotherhood & a better future to come for ALL. 🙏❤️
Awesome music from a far better time in America when music had meaning and harmony. Unlike today's noise pollution
Uhhhh, it was the Vietnam War era actually.
@@michaeldowson6988 Even us that were in the military think that is was “a far better time”.
@@richardeast3328 I suppose so, if you aren't African-American.
I was encountering draft dodgers here & there, though none were Black.
@@michaeldowson6988 Of course and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
@@richardeast3328 Still devoted to Dominoes are you?
Tommy James and the Shondells had quite a few hits when I was growing up in the 60' and 70's. I actually met him and he is a great guy.
Haven't heard this n a while. Awesome song. Thx
The sun is arising, most definitely…..
Especially for Sarah’s 30th birthday 🎉!
Love is the answer, most definitely 👍
Thats a nice groove to dance to.
Back in the time of the flower people mainstream call them hippies
I was one of those people that wore peace sign medals around the neck much happier time in the world
Tommy James is so original.
Loved your reaction, Sarah. 😁
I loved many hits from these guys in the '60s and '70s. A song in a similar vein to this one is "Crimson and Clover." Very trippy. 👍
Tommy’s still out there.
BEST BIRTHDAY GIFT EVER! Thank you so much, Sarah! I truly appreciate your indulgence and I'm so glad you liked the song I requested. Tommy James said he came up with the song after reading some passages in the bible that really moved him. He wanted it to be a song about peace and spirituality and I think he succeeded. It always bring me such harmony of heart of soul. Thanks again and Happy Birthday to you tomorrow! I'm kissing the sky as Jimi used to sing! 🎈
Thank you so much! I hope you had a fun celebration!
@@SarahDengler Yes! I went to visit the Grimm Brothers home during their University days in Marburg. Now you have a great celebration today, young lady! Cake yourself up!
Sarah this came out the year I graduated high school hahaha Good music. Thanks.
I'm 66 and positive lyrics were of hope. I guess that's why I don't understand most people's priorities today. Thanks for your efforts.
I just turned 66 yesterday and was the person who asked Sarah to do a video to this song. I'm with you on all the misplaced priorities today, especially with the young, but it did my heart good to see the recent protests over the Gaza Strip war.
Love the Spanish guitar.
Try their 'Crimson & Clover' - the full version, not the radio edit version. That was a real Psychedelic number.
Always loved this one.
Sweet cherry wine was there anti-war song. My fav by them. There song Mony Mony was covered, as was crimson and clover, by other artist, and they covered songs as well. Funny story, their Manager told them"we got an offer to play in some guys back yard", they laughed and declined. That why they missed the original WOODSTOCK CONCERT.
❤
Miss Sarah you should react to Tommy's James and the Shondells Crimson and Clover I'm glad you finally reacted to my request from a long time ago 😂
Did Sarah ever hear of Three Dog Night? Eli's Coming is a great song by them, the live version.
Out In The Country is my favorite 3 Dog song.
@@ProfessorEchoMedia That's another favorite of mine.
Great song from the sixties. 😅
You should listen to their other song called ( Mony Mony )
Tommy James & The Shondells are a great American pop rock/psychedelic rock band from the 60's. They had a lot of great hits such as "Crimson & Clover", "I Think We're Alone Now", "Hanky Panky", "Mirage", "Mony Mony", "Sweet Cherry Wine", "Ball Of Fire", "Do Something To Me" etc. When Tommy went solo in the 70's "Draggin' The Line" & "Three Times In Love" were hits for him.
White, christian, psychedelic, hippie soul
music. So pretty, when it was on the radio
back in the day people heard it and smiled.
According to James's manager, James was actually inspired by his readings of the Book of Ezekiel, which (he remembered as) speaking of a blue Shekhinah light that represented the presence of the Almighty God, and of the Book of Isaiah and Book of Revelation, which tell of a future age of brotherhood of mankind, living in peace and harmony.
A lot of people do not know that Tommy James spent most of his career with a gun held to his head by the mob run Roulette records. He did not get hardly any royalties from the songs he wrote. It’s quite sad. But a great song, and great reaction as always.
Tommy James said the song was never meant to be about drugs. James discussed the origin of “Crystal Blue Persuasion.” “Well, the imagery was right out of Chapter 19 of the Book of Revelation, about the Lake of Crystal, and what John sees. James said the song is based on the passages at the end of the book of Revelation about the coming of the New Jerusalem. He says he read the passage and saw the words in different parts of the passage and they all came together in his mind as "Crystal Blue Persuasion".
Issued when the Young hoped and tried for a better civilisation for them and future generations. Unfortunates all all those dreams were ended by politicians big business etc. nothing changed unfortunately - in fact it got far worse.
Try Hanky Panky first #1 hit US & Nationally no body reacts too
German band De Phazz sampled this on their debut album 'De*th by Chocolate' - crica2001
I've always wondered where it came from! Thanks Sarah! Another gem.
We tried, we really tried.
But it's always the Big Boys with the Toys that spoil everything.
Maybe someday....
I'm the one who requested Sarah do a reaction to this song today, my 66th Birthday. I'm hope I'm around to see the someday you dream of. Or at least somewhere from where I can still see it and smile.
