Been WAITING for you to do this one. It and Crimson and Clover will both blow you away!
I have so many favorite bands and songs but Crimson and Clover is one the best.
I Think We're Alone Now is also one of their best.
Don’t forget Mony Mony
@@RicoBurghFan Yeah, I really like I Think We’re Alone Now too.
Yes! Crimson and Clover!
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. They should play it a lot more often on all the radio stations in the world.
its 2024 and i still listen to this song and always will. never knew it had some biblical meaning but now that i know, it makes it even better. GOD loves you !!
There was a time when life felt like this. Around 1967.
My late sister loved this song and she used to dance with me in her arms to this song when I was 5 years old (I’m 57 now). Makes me smile every time I hear this song and I know she starts dancing in heaven.
I used to dance to this with my newborn son in my arms. Make sure of all things, hold fast to what is fine, (1Thess.5 :21)And you'll have the chance to dance again with her......
Their song Crimson and Clover is really good too!
Joan Jett rendition of it is pretty good too!
Has to be the long version!
@@FirstSuiGeneris joan jett ruined it.
@@umji3389 each artist bring their own style to their music. I don’t base the song purely on the original. If you know her style, then you know she a rocker!
I’ll be 67 this year. So blessed to have grown up with all this music. Beautiful reaction from you both. Peace and good , brotherhood , I think each generation is striving for “crystal blue persuasion from the heavens above. God is Love Amen 🙏🎶
With all due respect, I could watch Amber listen to music all day❤. Such a stunningly beautiful woman
Bless you both for your love of these classics ❤
When Amber puts her hand on her chest just below her throat you know she is feeling the message. Love it. The peace on your face is where we all went when we heard this song.
The amount of hope for love and humanity in this song brings a warmth to my soul. The 60's were something else...
We all desperately need this Crystal blue persuasion in our lives right now. This song is so relevant today, it's almost spooky!
One of my favorite songs when I was a kid in the 60’s. Named my daughter Crystal because of it.
Ah sweet memories of Junior High and High School….
Hanky Panky, Mony Mony, I Think We’re Alone Now and Crimson And Clover, then this song.
Hanky Panky was one of the first songs added to our 7th grade garage band’s repertoire. Brings back great memories!!❤️
Ron, I like your picks and was playing them too.
So glad that you got the message Amber and Rob. This was played continuously on the radio. You have to love the message. Thanks for reacting to this.😊
The other song that is inextricably linked to this one is Tommy James and the Shondells' "Crimson and Clover." Both were released in 1969, and both left a lasting impression on those of us who were around to hear them at the time. But don't miss out on one of TJ&S's earlier hits, "I Think We're Alone Now" (from 1967). Me and my girlfriend at the time, that was "our song."
LOVE that song even if it is a bubble gum pop tune...its sexy as H 😉Just make sure J and Amber don't get the Tiffany cover - its not so great and nothing close to the original
Joan Jett did a great cover of "Crimson and Clover".
I'm definitely on that worldwide love train!!! He's talking about Christianity, with Jesus looking down at all of his children, in all of the nations. Great song. Great reaction.
I’ve been waiting to see Amber’s reaction to this one, a real 60s vibe!!
I love this song.
I knew Amber would especially groove on this one! Gotta check out Tommy James and the Shondells' - Sweet Cherry Wine and The Rascals - It's A Beautiful Morning and Groovin'! Y'all keepin' the spirit alive with these reactions! Peace! ✌☮
Pretty straightforward. That change that took place fifty years ago was an awakening. No going backwards. Very insightful performance by James. Brilliant
Jay just said "what the world needs now". You haven't reacted to Jackie Deshannon yet. You have to do "What the World Needs Now Is Love". It's from 1965. You will love it!!!
Good call......
Heard that on Sirius today! Weird. What a great song.
'Teen Angst ' by Cracker is what the world needs now🤘🙋♂️
Jackie Deshannon ❗️
She was great.
[ I guess I kind of forgot about her. ]
📻🙂
The Chambers Brothers do the best cover of this song.
An absolutely beautiful song with lyrics that stand the test of time… Thank you for reacting
This is one the most beautiful songs ever recorded, both musically and lyrically. "Crimson and Clover" is another great song from this band.
Over a half-decade since I "got it" & tears well-up every-beautiful-time. And I'm grateful to get the opportunity.
Well said. We slow danced to this song in the 60's.
My first crush and we slow danced to this dong.
Yes Yes Yes!!!!
Makes you smile. Big time!!!!
This time in history was all about love and peace. Not like now where division and hate exist.
It is a shoulder swaying song. Laying out in a pool on a airmatress. Sun beating down cool summer breeze . Eyes closed and just floating to the tunes.
Can't wait,.....lol 😉
this was the late 60's vibe all over-unfortunately it didn't last. These guys were great and nice reaction.
Let’s hope for a new era similar shall we ? It was rather chaos too back then and I’ll not give up on the young .
The fact these two and others are finding it ? All we need to know . ☮️
This is a laidback summertime tune carefully crafted to create maximum relaxation!Wow!
Crystal blue is old slang for crystal clear. Peace and love between all of us will heal the earth. It's crystal clear (blue).
Sweet Cherry Wine, Ball of Fire, and of course, Crimson and Clover!
Beautiful song! A very different world then. Everyone was about peace and love to one another. You guys are the best!
I was a teenager when this song was popular and I have to say, Amber absolutely nailed the vibe. Not sure how it's possible, but she comes across as a flower child of the 60s. If you want more songs of the 60's summer, listen to Groovin' by the Young Rascals.
Most younger people remember this song from Breaking Bad, but I still remember it when I was a kid in the 60's. Surprised they never watched BB, lot's of great music in that show.
A definite 60's classic to sit back and have good vibes and thoughts for at least 4 minutes, album version.
This song brings back memories of the beach when I was young. They always played it back in the day.
Found this online
“In a 1985 interview in Hitch magazine, James said the title of the song came to him while he was reading the Biblical Book of Revelation:
I took the title from the Book of Revelations [sic] in the Bible, reading about the New Jerusalem. The words jumped out at me, and they're not together; they're spread out over three or four verses. But it seemed to go together, it's my favorite of all my songs and one of our most requested.”
“According to James's manager, James was actually inspired by his readings of the Book of Ezekiel, which (he remembered as) speaking of a blue Shekhinah light that represented the presence of the Almighty God, and of the Book of Isaiah and Book of Revelation, which tell of a future age of brotherhood of mankind, living in peace and harmony.”
Amen.
wow !! makes sense why we love the song! wow the blue glory light i love it!
☝️😇
Never knew this ❤thanks!
Yes, the "new earth" promised by God himself ,brought about by him and not humankind, but his gift to humankind, with no more suffering, no more tears. "On earth as it is in heaven, when God's will is done. (Revelation 21 :1-5/Matthew 6:9,10 /Daniel 2:44!)the best - is yet to ccme!
In 1987, the singer Tiffany remade "I Think We're Alone Now" to number 1 on the Billboard charts. It was replaced at number 1 by another Tommy James remake, "Mony Mony", by Billy Idol. Never happened before, and has never happened again. On a side note, I dated Tommy James' niece while I was in college. Never met him though.
love this beautiful song!
Crimson and Clover by Tommy James and the Shondells is a must for you both, a classic song by this group.
I love Crimson and Clover. I use to borrow my older sister’s 45 vinyl single. I was a kid, she was a teenager.😊
Absolutely beautiful. A time of peace and love. Everyone accepted one another.
Give peace a chance again.
Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤❤ 🇨🇦🇨🇦
So much of the music back then made us feel hopeful and positive for the future along with being inspirational.
Great song. I was 8 when it came out.
Tommy James & The Shondells originated in Niles, MI. I lived in the neighborhood next to where they would practice. As an 11 year old riding my bike by as they worked these out!! They are special for all the good music but sends me back every time!! Peace & Love to you and the Family!!
Whoaaa.....I didn't know that they were from Michigan. I grew up in Flint, home of Grand Funk. Many great musicians from back home!!!
Tommy James was a born again Christian when he wrote this. The lyric “when He looks down” refers to God looking down on all of his children in every nation. The lyric “the sun is arising” can also be “the Son is arising”, referring to Jesus.
OMG, this was such a beautiful song and brings me back to my teens. This was one of my favs. 😍
Yes. What the world 🌎 needs now, is peace, love & understanding! Never a truer word spoken. Beautiful song/reaction guys. Thank you for playing it. ❤🎼💙
I'm in it. From my time. You don't need drugs when you have music like that to take to you to that higher place.
Born in ‘53 and known for my hippie vibes I would love to bring back our love and peace but no one’s listening.
Soon we’ll be gone off this beautiful earth and all that will be left of us is our music.✌🏻
Such a beautiful song. I'm glad you already listened to Draggin' The Line...that's my favorite!! The 60's & 70's genres are unlike no other.
Great bass line.
When I was a high school senior this was the theme of our prom. Yeah, I am that old and loving all you younger generations discovering how incredible the songs of a bygone era are. No auto tune or computerized mixing, just pure talent. Thanks for making me smile with fond memories. Commentary on life, imagine dancing to this song at a prom with this theme, then later being shipped off to Việt Nam.
I have known Tommy since I was a child, as he and my mom grew up as friends. I’ve had a number of conversations with him about this song in particular, since it’s my favorite. I just saw him about 5 months ago in Phoenix and he’s still rockin! Powerful song!!!!
This song is so good and has such a nice message.
I remember when this first came out. Peace and love was what it was all about.
Great song, one of my favorite Tommy James songs. Another one of my favorites is Sweet Cherry Wine. The song that brings back memories of my first girlfriend is I Think We're Alone Now
This song is for when you are floating in a pool and watching the clouds without a care.
That’s exactly how I like to spend my summer 🙋🏻♀️
While high on acid yes
Yup...been there done that 😁
"What did the song Crystal Blue Persuasion mean?
He was inspired by his reading of the book of Ezekiel where it speaks of the Blue Shekinah Light which represented the presence of the Almighty God and the Books of Isaiah and Revelation where it speaks of a bright future of a brotherhood of mankind living in peace and harmony."
Thank you for the info, appreciate it.
Beautiful words. I named my cat, crystal
Tommy James music is so timeless, His songwriting was way ahead of it's time, Being a Michigander i was a diehard Tommy james and the Shondells fan. They hail from Niles, Michigan and are in the Michigan Hall of Fame.
Loved the 60s. Hard lessons were being learned. Everything was heading in the right direction. Minds were changing. The world was changing. Make Love Not War, Free Love, Peace Love and Understanding, What The World Needs Now Is Love Sweet Love. Speaking of please react to *What the World Needs Now*
by Jackie DeShannon
I was listening to this song in a plane years many ago. I had a window seat and we were above these beautiful clouds, and the sun was setting. Freaked me out! lol Had some type of spiritual experience. Was intense.
FINALLY! One of my favorites of all time! The music and the message can’t be beat. 💖💖💖 And so emblematic of the 1960s. I knew this song was your vibe. Next, you should listen to Crimson and Clover.
So glad we had our music and how it brings comfort just listening to it. Ahhh, the 60's. 👍
This song is about The Lord Jesus. It's about giving your life to God. God Bless you.
his best song ever, always reminds me of summer...now that i'm older i feel God in this.
Great reaction, really great song, just a good song to listen to while hanging out by the pool and BBQing👍🍀
Tommy's bio is a good read. It's a great window into the mobbed-up record business during the sixties and seventies.
Amber, I found this: What's the meaning behind the song Crystal Blue Persuasion?
He was inspired by his reading of the book of Ezekiel which speaks of the Blue Shekinah Light which represented the presence of the Almighty God and the Books of Isaiah and Revelation which speaks of a bright future of a brotherhood of mankind living in peace and harmony. This is where he got his idea from. I have been listening to this song for so many years, and I never knew that. Very Cool.
You might want to also listen to Crimson and Clover and I Think We’re Alone Now as well. Great choice of song today, love the message, haven’t heard it for awhile, need to hear it more.😎🇨🇦🍺
Amber, you got it girl! Your slow dance moves show you’re feeling the ritmo!
this song is simply perfect! still brings tears to my eyes!
Hearing this song, I’m instantly 16 again ❤.
Peace and love and brotherhood
Born in 68 and grew up to all of the best music of the 60s, 70s, and 80s. We will never have that again.
Same sentiment of peace and love would be Jackie DeShannon's "What the World Needs Now is Love" From the mid 60's also.
Soundtrack of my teen years. This song is still relevant today. SO glad to see y’all reacting to so many great songs of my younger years.
Definitely Crimson and Clover. Big hit.
Such a lovely song! A few others from around that same time: “Cowboys to Girls” by the Intruders, “Jennifer Juniper” by Donovan, and “Like to Get to Know You” by Spanky and Our Gang.
Boy did I love my childhood, think back and smile.
Great song 🎵 sugar on Sunday ❤
One of my absolute favorite songs, such a good message
Good song- 🎵 great memories !! 👍
I’m so excited to watch this! Tommy J & the Shondells are next level at everything they do!
love this song
I missed my only chance to see them in concert. Always loved their songs.
I saw them as part of an oldies concert about 22 years ago. It Was Tommy James and the Shondells, The Turtles, The Buckinghams and Gary Puckett. Fabulous night and they all sounded great I feel bless to have been able to go.
Hey guys. Being 1969 a lot of people said it was about drugs, but no! There are a lot of theories, but it apparently had a lot to do with Tommy James having recently, then, become a Christian. In his mind, peace and good, brotherhood, people of all nations etc. There was nothing better than in the late 60s and early 70s laying on the beach all day, listening to the radio. It was the lifeblood of a generation. Y'all ought to listen to someone who was kind of a one hit star. Her name was Maria Muldaur and the song was Midnight at the Oasis. Impossible to be in your car and not be singing along to it.
Great female Friday song idea.
@@kathleenmather432 Absolutely!
One of my favorites, listen to it every day. ❤
I remember hearing this song announced on the radio the day it was released in the US. It was in June of 1969 and I was eight and a half years old. I still remembered it to this day.
My second favorite Tommy James song.My favorite is "Sweet Cherry Wine".Give it a listen, I think Amber would definitely like it.It's got the whole hippy sound with the peace and love message.
The lyrics... the music. Amazing and beautiful. I've loved this since I was a child and didn't even fully understand it, but I loved the sound and how the adults in the house would be so mellowed while gently swaying and smiling, though some looked like they wanted to cry. I get it. 🙂
**The meaning - It's my understanding that they're saying that the light of God is a crystal blue color, and when the light shines down, the changes for the better happen as He watches.
For another beautiful song of peace and love, try "Love Is the Answer" by England Dan & John Ford Coley.
It comes from the soul. Very important now. Thanks for this.
I love everything about this song. I’m so glad you did it.
Great reaction, Jay and Amber! Love this song! INFO FROM SONG FACTS:
《When we asked James if "Crystal Blue" is a reference to the Book of Revelation, he replied: "Yes, it is. It's out of the Bible. The imagery was right out of Chapter 19 of the Book of Revelation, about the lake of crystal, and just what John sees. The imagery was just right there. 'Crystal blue persuasion,' although those words aren't used together, it was what the image meant to me."
The lyrics, "It's a new vibration," are about James becoming Christian, but many listeners had their own interpretation. He explained: "Of course, everybody thinks if they don't understand what you're talking about it must be about drugs. But it wasn't. We were going through a real interesting time back then, and a very wonderful time. Everybody in the band, by the way, became Christian. And we're very proud of it. And 'Crystal Blue Persuasion' was sort of our way of saying that in a kind of pop record way."》
I think that is not correct. I believe Tommy said a college student handed him a note with those words on it. Tommy didn't think anything of it at the time, but later the song idea came to him.
Tommy James said "I took the title from the Book of Revelations in the Bible, reading about the New Jerusalem. The words jumped out at me, and they're not together; they're spread out over three or four verses. But it seemed to go together, it's my favorite of all my songs and one of our most requested."
Interesting. I did not know that, thank you.
I think, it could be a rumor, that Tommy James had studied the Bible, let's just say with a certain organization. He learned a bit! He called the book the "Crystal Blue Persuasion." (the book, a study aid, was blue) Revelation 12 is eye opening.
Right ...but without knowing *that* is the explanation about the origins of the song you could easily enough be thinking the song is about a wonderful LSD trip after dropping * Crystal Blue Persuasion* Acid
@@hasslefree1848 That's what I thought when I was a teen. It wasn't until I was an adult & started listening to the artists interviews & documentaries that I learned I did NOT know it all back then. My Dad was right after all.
@@janabraam7963 Right....There was a number of songs written based on LSD trips such as the Song: *Magic Carpet Ride* by Steppenwolf.....Then there was the song by Three Dog Night: *Mama Told Me Not To Come* where in the beginning of the song the Lyrics say: Have some Whiskey in your water, some SUGAR in your Tea and alluding to LSD in the Tea by way of Sugar Cube Acid ( LSD ) that was in circulation and popular in the form of a Sugar Cube having a measured dose of LSD applied to the Sugar Cube......Beside the other kinds of LSD that was sold in pill form and known as Purple Microdot or Yellow Sunshine or Window Pane Acid ( a small transparent thin *chip* of freeze dried acid formulation ) Or Blotter Acid by way of a small square of sheet paper with a measured drop of LSD 25 applied to the square piece of paper
Numerous Songs based on LSD and LSD trips.....They say??? Santana and his band were all high on LSD when they played Soul Sacrifice at Woodstock in 1969...Maybe ..maybe not ...Cheers
This has always been my favorite of their songs. I feel very fortunate to have grown up with this music. Thanks so much for the trip down memory lane and your appreciation of it too.
Yessssss. The 60s .Beautiful. This is it.We had the most beautiful music.Good to see y'all enjoying
It too.
Amber should have been born in my generation's timeline. 60/70/80's were an absolute tidal wave of awesome music. 💯
You sure enjoy the 60’s & 70’s music. It’s refreshing too see young couple loving these generation of groups, without yelling & screaming lyrics & loud music, good melody.
This is one of my favorite songs. I was nine when this song hit the airway. Where's my hammock? Beautiful ❤️
Absolutely love your enthusiasm with every song..beautiful song Crimson and clover awesome song ..
BEAUTIFUL!! So much awesome instrumental so much beautiful music!! Peace and Love and lots of Smiles to you both and your beautiful family! awesome reactions guys 😊💓🤘✌️
The term "crystal blue" makes me think of sunlight on the water. The beginning of the song is about a sunrise. I think they're hoping the rising sun will persuade the people of the world to bring in an age of peace and good and brotherhood. Sadly their vision didn't come true. Maybe someday.
.....YES! ...my fave Tommy song
I always loved his music. Band is great as well.
