nice video Edgar, but one thing you may not have taken into account is that if you give me a well-explained tutorial with detailed instructions, my local shop won't be able to charge me $75 to scan my VIN, harvest all my info to sell to marketing companies, and attempt to upsell me on overpriced accessories throughout the entire oil change process.
This video was amazing, thank you a ton!!!
Thanks bro appreciate it use this vid every time
Awesome, glad the video helped 👍🏽
Nice work! 👍
thanks for this video man! nice and simple instructions, all other subaru legacy oil change videos are mainly all old ass grandpas who just talk and talk and talk lol
you're welcome, I appreciate the comment 👍🏼
Agree 100% you showed the products used, and each step without it feeling like it dragged.
Very good.Thanks
Thanks for the video!! I was unsure I was going to be able to do this successfully but your video really helped. I did have trouble getting my filter off due to its tightness, where would you recommend I buy that oil filter tool for easy removal?
Thanks Brittany, glad the video helped. You can get the tool from your local auto parts store. I also left a link in my description
Well I gotta do it myself since My dad doesn’t want to do it but thanks for the tutorial! Is the Engine the same as a 16 legacy?
you're welcome. If it's the 2.5 4 cylinder engine then yes it's the exact same thing. It will only be different if you have the 6 cylinder engine
Very nice video and well demonstrated! How many miles we can drive after using OW-20 ? The bottle says 10,000 miles, can we get 10k life for Subaru Legacy? If we get 10k miles, should we need to change filters in between ?
Thank you. Yes you can drive it 10,000 miles but it is not recommended. Subaru recommends to get your oil and filter changed every 6,000 miles and if you drive in harsh conditions like in snow or off roading then change it every 4,000 - 5,000 miles. Also it's a good idea to check your oil level every month as these newer vehicles have oil consumption (burn oil) to meet certain improvements in fuel economy. Hope this helps
I have been changing oil between 3 to 5 thousand miles since I’m 16 just saying
I had bought 1 gallon of motor oil I'm short 1 q if im correct. Considering the engine is the same. Its a 2.5l.
yes you will be shy 1 quart of oil
Check the bottle it might be 5 quarts I just bought one and a filter Advance Auto
i forgot about the washer, is it a specific size?
Yes it is a specific size. Just go to your auto parts store and give them your year, make and model of your car and they will hook you up. Don’t worry about putting one now just do it on your next oil change.
no jacks or jack stands??? is it reachable without the floor jack
I was able to reach it without jack or jack stands with no problem.
Edgar Navarro thanks! i just did my first lol change, no jacks or anything either lolz thanks
Alright no jack thanks
In Australia, your Legacy is called Liberty. Subaru recommend we use 5w 30 full synthetic in our Liberty’s . I see 0w 20 was written on your oil filler cap. In my Impreza it has 0w 20. By the way the genuine black oil filter is better made then the blue filter , I seen both these cut down on MrSubaru channel and you wouldn’t use the blue after seeing that
Yes I believe in the US Subaru recommends to use 0W-20 in order to get better gas mileage. I tried using 5W-30 and thought I felt a little bit better performance but that could’ve just been all in my head. Does your Liberty burn a lot of oil? I have to add 2 to 3 quarts of oil between oil changes, and this is supposed to be a normal thing 🤷🏽♂️ yes I’ve heard that the black Subaru filters are supposed to be better quality but we don’t get them here in the US 👎🏽
My Liberty has 184000 Klms on it (114300 miles) it’s never burnt any oil. But my Liberty is a 2012 model and the oil filter is underneath not on top of the engine like yours. Subaru must have changed the 2.5 oil filter position in different models. And I’ve always run the highest gas available, here in Australia our gas is graded as RON and we have E91 (10 %ethanol) , 95 and 98. I’ve found out your gas is graded differently MON and MON 93 is virtually the same as our RON 98
@@RodSwansmad that’s really weird. I think the oil consumption problem started on the 2013 or 2014 models.
TY
You’re welcome 👍🏽
my car has 73,000 miles, can i use 0w20 o i have to change it?
This vehicle has over 100,000 miles on it and I'm still using 0W-20 and haven't had any issues. I know it's recommended to change viscosity after 75,000 miles but my vehicle is not leaking any oil and it still runs happy so I keep using 0W-20. So yes you can still use 0W-20 at 73,000 miles
Did u have to take off engine bed cuz I think I have to on mines
are you talking about the plastic cover under the car?
What if the car sputters after the oil change need to find out for a friend asap
I’m not quite sure. I think you would need more information to try and diagnose the issue. Did it happen before? Did it happen right after oil change? When does it happen? Does it happen all the time?
Where did you buy oil drain plug gasket
You can buy them from your local Subaru dealership or online. I recommend getting them from Subaru because some online sources don't give you the correct gasket.
@@edgarnavarro7264 I was a victim! Ordered the oil filter set on amazon and the filter fit but not the Gasket that came included!! They were smaller and looked cheaper then the OEM gasket it had!
@@johnclassified36 yes it's happened to me, it's always a good idea to read consumer reviews 👍🏼
What's the usual life expectancy for this oil?
Subaru recommends an oil change every 6,000 miles for the 2015 Subaru Legacy
Is the plug's head 17mm?
Yes the size of the oil drain plug is 17 mm
If i may add. I bought a oil/fluid manual pump extractor for 99 bucks at Harbor Freight. Literally the easiest oil chane you can ever do on a car. Believe me. Worth it.
I’ve never used one before. I’m going to have to look in to it 👍🏽
I think you needed jacks.
Nope, no jacks needed for me. Always change the oil with the car leveled on the driveway. It does help being slim
@@edgarnavarro7264 And young!
Why not make it easy and put the car on ramps or jack it up
For me it’s easier to not jack it up or put on ramps. I can get to the drain bolt with no problem.
