Great video! My local dealer wanted $775 to change the plugs lol. I was like nahh. I'll just do it myself. Landers McLarty Subaru in Huntsville Alabama is one to avoid.
I get that they need to make money and have lots of overhead, but $775!? $50 in parts and an hour…$250 would still be a good profit for them. Let us know how the job goes!
On my 2015 Legacy, I didn't jack up the engine but I did remove the battery tray to reach the driver's side plugs. The 2015 has two side bolts on the battery tray that require a 14mm ratcheting wrench to remove, in addition to the other bolts. I spent at least 2 hours trying to remove these two bolts which secure the battery tray to the frame. Subaru designers did not have mechanics in mind when they designed this feature, but apparently the side bolts were no longer used after 2015? I don't know how anyone could get to the driver's side plugs without removing the tray first, but apparently you were able to? Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the info, that is helpful! It wasn’t easy and my knuckles paid the price. I will try removing the battery tray next time and ya, not a great design for spark plug changes for sure 😑
Good job I might have to try this soon
You can do it, save the cash
Everybody else took the battery and battery box out and did driver side without a problem.
That’s the smart way for sure
SHOW THE PLATE ON THE DRIVER’S SIDE THAT YOU ARE REFERRING TO
I’ll have to look
Interesting!!
Did you change yours?
