Drove Hondas for many years and windshield washer fluid was the only fluid I needed to keep on hand. I'm now on my second Subaru Legacy. I do need to keep oil and coolant on hand, but occasionally adding those is an acceptable trade-off for the AWD performance.
I also have a 2017 Legacy Sport. The battery died at the 3 year mark, and I get the occasional smell of overheating. My car s low mileage (16000). Other than that it's perfect. It only gets driven about 8 miles daily.
Currently driving a 2016 Honda Civic. Very reliable but looking to trade soon for a Legacy due to the rain and snow in my state. Thank you for the video to help me make a more informed decision. :)
Bought by 2018 3.6R used with 56,000mi two years ago. Has had issues with steering column, wheel hub bearings, sway bar, and now the head unit! 6 year old car. Unreal. Oh driver side seat cover replacement.
Missed the big one with this generation: The head units. The touch screen delaminates, showing squiggly lines and rendering it inoperable. Subaru frequently refuses to replace them 'due to age' and new ones are $1000.
Coolant leaks into the engine and burn off then later heat gasket issue and more coolant leaks, and leaks and leaks until the engine die. Subaru are know for heat gasket problems....still is
Ugh. My Volvo blew head gaskets so I was looking at Subaru because it's an AWD sedan and with our crappy weather it's something I want. I buy used not new. Is the coolant issue something we can see on the engine? Like burnt splatter? Traveling 3 hours Saturday to go look at this car
@ThePenguinface I bought a 2018 legacy limited. I've had issues unfortunately. My infotainment screen is toast. I can not use it at all. It just clicks and beeps like crazy, so watch out for a delaminated screen. Subaru of America is useless. My coolant keeps disappearing and can not find a leak and it's not in the oil. I do have to add a qt of oil before I'm due for an oil change. I can't use the auto window on the passenger side it'll just bounce back down. I have to inch it up even though nothing is in the way. The car constantly throws codes which sets off the check engine light, which then causes the dash to light up like a Christmas tree. Found out it was the gas cap. Got codes again and now it's something much bigger. In the engine. It's going to the garage again. My car has a ceramic coating and out of nowhere on the drivers door the paint started to bubble. Its npt from something hitting it or from rot from the salt. Its a very odd place. I LOVED this car when everything worked. But I honestly would never buy a subaru again. I only put 3k miles on it before the infotainment system started to act up. 3.5k to replace with no guarantee it wont just happen again. Aftermarket is complicated because of the harmon kardon sound system. My next car I'm going with Honda, Toyota or even a volvo again. This is just my experience. Sorry I couldn't give you better news!
@ThePenguinface oh and when the check engine light is on it shuts off all the fancy safety perks. Can't even use cruise control. I've never had a car that has so many codes constantly over the dumbest of things. It's like subaru wants you to take it to a garage weekly. I put my volvo though hell and back. I was a broke young adult doing my best. I'd push it on gas, oil, tires and she lasted me years. This car could never
@@marshallislandsg5630 I've had my 2016 Legacy 2.5 Limited for almost 5 years now. Maintenance cost has been low/standard. Just filters and typical oil changes. At 92,000 miles no issues but had to change bearings once and will be changing them again under warranty in a week. Factory battery is kinda shit after 3 years confirmed. No other issues tho, Louisiana driven with muffler delete, frequently whipped around corners.

I have a 2017 legacy sport . Great car . No issues
Me too. Same thing, no issues.

@@brooke3140I’m interested to hear how you went? Did you end up buying one and if so any issues?

Sounds like more trouble than it's worth
@Victor Martinez Is it really that bad? I saw a used Subaru Legacy 2015 for good price. Should I not get it?
@Victor Martinez I see. Do you know the maintenance cost for Subaru? Is it high?
@Victor Martinez Oh ok. Thanks for the response bro.
