This is a great video, very organized, good camera angles, providing all the part numbers, and taking the time to explain all the details. Unfortunately I paused the video right before you mentioned to release the pressure in my shocks and I got a face full of old nasty fork oil 😂. Waiting for the parts in the mail now should be back on the road next weekend. Riding an '83 GL1100 standard.

Sir. Well done. I thought I had a gorgeous 1983 Aspencade- which I do. I thought it was the best example ever. I am wrong. Your bike is absolutely gorgeous. I have two wings- my 83 & 93 1500. For my alone time I always gravitate to my 83 named Burgy. The entire family knows of my love affair with that bike. Your example is simply amazing. Your skills in mechanical resolve are impressive. Unfortunately, I do not share your same skills. Wish you were closer- I’d love to ride with you. I’m in Indiana. Best to you. Safe riding and all the blessings life has to offer. Thx for all. Deano

Hi Mark. I'm in the middle of this. Two questions. The top bushing, does it get driven into place when the seal is driven into place? Also did you install the lower bolt without the brass washers? I'm wonderingnif they're need as I had to drill mine out and the washers are toast. Thanks.

Good video mate! Just a question, @25:39 you are installing the lower bolt and torque it. However you stop without hearing the click of the torque wrench, is it because you felt it was going to strip?

This is awesome. A couple questions : I don’t fully understand where you put the electrical tape in working with the clamp and pvc? I couldn’t really see the tape and couldn’t make out what it does.
And second, at what point do you put the fluid in and how much?

likely to avoid scratching/harming the stanchions, scratches (even tiny ones) can be the cause of oil leaks

Great vid. I just did this to a 2015 Roadking with the same shock. However the Harley shock didn't have that metal washer just under the snap ring. Is that a thin washer? I used the same gasket from Honda but I'm thinking I would like to put the metal washer under the snap ring.

    • @mrmarkg8564
      @mrmarkg8564  3 года назад

Hey Len, I don't think there is a washer under the snap ring. At 11:34 I show the parts diagram, there was a thin plastic washer that was on top of the snap ring, but was not re-installed. Hope that helps.

I have the progressive springs on mine which don't need air. If that line doesn't need to flex after it's installed, you might be able to fabricate one from a metal line (brake line).

Ummmmmmmmmm, sorry but you should at least post a CORRECTION. The 83 GL1100 has 39 mm tubes and the GL1200 has 41 mm tubes. Identical parts for both will not work.
Tube size for all Goldwing's starting in 1984.
    GL-1200 “Goldwing” (84)
    GL-1200 I “Interstate” (84-87)
    GL-1200L “Ltd” (85)
Notice here the SE-i is NOT included with this size. Might wanna google that model if it applies to you.
    GL-1500 “Goldwing” (88-90)
    GL-1500I “Interstate” (91-96)
Great Production work though. Informative and well managed.
