I loved that you didn’t change the furnitures because that’s a lot of cost that people do not want to spend. However, you made it work with the make over by just buying some art works and a few other items. That’s so creative! And I loved your accented chair!!! Totally that’s the color of what I’m looking for for my room. Great job!! Keep it up!

What a difference! The only thing I would add is a small round table between the chairs, and a pathos plant (real or fake) on top of the tall dresser. I love the cow print!!!

Love it! Small suggestion: one of those furry faux white sheepskin rug thing you can find at Ikea, laid on top of the blue chair to give it a bit more of a cozy feel and tie it to the white chair beside it :)

This is so cool and completely affordable. I took your idea for my mum's bedroom: took out the attached mirror and placed a new round one above the chest of drawers. Completely modernised it! Thank you for so many brilliant ideas, Kristen!

Good job Kristen. I would LOVE to have my child do things like that for me. I always did for my mom. He's an AMAZING son (best ever), but us girls look after our mom's happiness in womanly ways... like decor! Dad gets benefits too.

So glad I found your channel! I have only watched a few episodes, but I love that you respect the inherited pieces from your great grandma. You have great taste and blend old and new so well! Seeing you reveal rooms to your mom is so sweet and reminds me of when I was a kid and I would work all day to get the house all clean and decorated with fresh flowers and such, to surprise my mom when she got home from work. My mom would gasp, just like your mom, at all the right moments! I definitely appreciate a good gasper when you’re showing them a surprise! Anyways, keep up the good work! I look forward to watching your channel with my daughter!

Lovely makeover for your parents room but there's some things I wish you did after, may I make some suggestions?
#1 vacuum the spots where you moved the furniture from to fluff out the indentions out of the carpet and then give the whole room a more through vaccum after the makeover
#2 change out that little rug that is in front of the big dresser with the mirror to a big area rug that coordinates with the new accent color scheme in the room.
#3 A small round table between the two chairs to give your mom and dad a place to have quiet conversation and coffee before the start of their day.
#4 A plant or picture on top of the tall armoire to highlight the height.
Overall, the makeover was really nice and to use your great grandma's chair as the inspiration for the accent color of the room was great!

Barbara Navarro If you place ice cubes in the indents in the carpet and let it melt the indents come out. You have to vacuum once it’s dry.

Great ideas.
Pro DIY tip: if you take the big mirror off, it is the perfect size for a twin size headboard. If you take the mirror out, you can use any fabric to put on the middle. I used a really cool vintage blue paint and the kids Marvel sheet set’s flat sheet as the inside and it looks so custom and amazing for my sons room! Biggest DIY hit to date! My hubby couldn’t believe it was that ugly big mirror!
Wow I can’t believe you were able to use the outdated existing furniture to make the room look so nice!! I love home decore vids like this where with simple tweaks you really do an amazing job !! 👏🏻
I would have loved to see your Dad’s reaction to the room too but I loved the outcome of it all and your moms reaction!
I’m a new subbie. Very nice room makeover. I would move the white chair to your dad’s corner. He needs a little height over there. Maybe move the black cube near the heirloom chair to serve as an accent table. You can then drape it with a soft throw and tray.
I would do the same!
The only thing better than the end result of your fantastic decorating is your moms reaction to it. She’s so cute :)

I agree! First thing I would have said was get rid of or paint the ugly tone of that wood. Blech. My best friends entire house is like that (parents built it-it was all the rage back then).
