    How do you think these rounds will compare against a cinder block??? I think you will be surprised by the results!!!

      People say a .380 is 9mm short so you should try 22lr versus 22 short

    • @jtoker9758
      @jtoker9758 3 года назад +5

      Not really. When you are under attack, it is best to stop the attack with the least shots as possible. This test shows the penetrating power and the 380 is vastly lacking compared to the 9mm or other bigger guns. In most cases just pulling the gun out is enough to stop the attacker, but nowadays we got thugs going around in groups attacking people and more stopping power with capacity is always better.

    There you go. Never use a 380 to hunt cinder blocks. They will just run away with a limp while cussing you.

  • @golfhound
    @golfhound 4 года назад +7

    So many "experts" are so focused on penetration and power that they forget an equally important aspect of firing a pistol - RECOIL. When firing a pistol, the first shot requires effort to aim and hit center mass. But if the recoil is too much for the user, then the chances are you will miss your target all together with the rest of your shots. So, the caliber will make no difference. Two rounds center mass with a .380 is far more useful than a 45 missing the target. And a .380 will kill you. The CIA agents used a Walther PPK for 30 years while in the field. That should tell you something - LETHAL + RELIABLE. German officers in world war 2 used Walthers PPK's when they had access to anything. In summary, use a gun that is most comfortable in your hands and has enough recoil that you can control with multiple shots fired.

    • @mfallen6894
      @mfallen6894 3 года назад +1

      Yeah, .380 is plenty. People act like it is vastly inferior to a 9mm, but conveniently seem to forget the only reason the 9mm is considered "enough gun" these days is due to bullet technology, as if that same technology hasn't boosted the .380 as well. A .355in expanding projectile 1200fps is quite lethal. That same projectile at 1000fps is quite lethal as well. I doubt many who are shot with a .380 can feel the difference between the 13-15in penetration of the .380 vs the 16-18in penetration of a 9mm.
      I will say that factory .380 jhp's are more hit/miss due to the lower velo since most companies don't properly pair the projectile with the cartridge and instead use the exact same ones they use in their 9mm. But as long as you find a company that uses a thinner jacket/larger hollow-point cavity, they'll expand just fine at lower velocities

    Carry Both and are both winners in my holsters . Good thing I don’t expect any home intruders or would be attackers to be wearing cinder block. For carry I load up with Hornady Critical defense. For home defense I keep both critical defense and RIP rounds. It is all about that expansion in my minds. I want the intruder or intruders to have maximum damage with least amount of strain on me so if I can take out a 6‘7” tweaker with my tiny 380 that is ideal. Rather than walking around bumping into walls with a getting stuck in close quarters with a 12 gauge or AR15. I live in NYS so even using any hollow point or research ammo on a attacker outside my home even inside runs big risk . Lawyers would demonize me in front of a jury for using such ammunition even tho my life was in jeopardy. It is a blue demoncrat Anti firearm government.

    My first reaction when I saw you were shooting at concrete blocks at close range was to cringe…. I learned never to shoot at anything hard, the hard way many years ago. I fired a 7mm at an engine block from about 75 yds…. A piece came back and hit me in the face on my upper cheek below my eye hard enough to draw blood…..

      Ive had 30:06 bounce back at me from a 3” piece of steel. Didn’t draw blood, but was suprised!

    An interesting and fun experiment, but I don't see how it has any bearing in a self defense scenario...unless you think you might be attacked by a cinder block.

    The problema of you guys making video,you have to test with the same size of the gun,of course pocket gun got less power than regular gun because remember the most important is the barel 9 mm is long barel the other one is short.

  • @silvirhunter3607
    @silvirhunter3607 5 лет назад +2

    Well, here's how I look at it if you don't mind. I look at it like this, if a round overpenetrates the intended target, the 380 won't go through the wall and potentially hurt someone on the other side of said wall like a 9mm might. Just my $0.05

  • @tombayanni5305
    @tombayanni5305 6 лет назад +1

    This is precisely why I got rid of my 380 decades ago. For personal protection I just don't have any confidence in it. I have been told that a 380 is the equivalent of a 9 mm SHORT. Is that true?

    • @WHOTEEWHO
      @WHOTEEWHO  6 лет назад +1

      Thats my understanding as well. 380 is just a shorter, weaker 9mm

  • @Cartier_specialist

    I'm way late to the comments but you need to shoot the same cinder block with both rounds because all cinder blocks are not equal. The 380 should punch through a cinder block as long as the cinder block isn't a really old cinder block that has hardened more over time.

  • @XxhrdcrpunkxX

    Looks farther than 7 yards but maybe not. Am super surprised. Ive seen 380s go a foot inside gel blocks using hollow points which arent supposed to go all the way thru but i thought it was impressive the 380 round made it a foot into the gell after going thru 4 shirts and 2 packs of ribs.

    Just as I thought . The 380 is nothing but a 9mm short . Smaller case and less powder load . I could say that the big brick C9 had more wieght and through the round harder . I am not wanting to crack on the C9 today . My C9 is to close to me ! 😉 I would call the 380 a more of a get out of town gun . Like the lonely little 22 . Can you use it ? Well yes . Saying that . You should be retreating while you are using it . Where anying bigger then a 380 . You can stand your ground ok . 380 and smaller . Good backup gun . Larger is a good defence gun . Either way . Better then a pointy stick .

    • @WHOTEEWHO

    Not a fair comparison! The 380ACP was designed by John Browning to be fired from the Colt automatic pistol which, had a 4-1/2" barrel length. Barrel length greatly affects performance. Pocket pistols are piss poor and only good for concealment.

    Why do people always say " they are basically the same round"?. Because they no nothing about ballistics. The 9mm is superior to the 380, just like a 10mm is superior to the 9mm. Its called a POWER FACTOR using bullet weight and velocity, which the 9mm has over the 380.

    I got into it with a guy the other day he was made out of concrete. So I picked up a tractor jumped really high in the air and slammed it on him. Naw really 380 is more fat to use energy for a knock down shock, jolt. 9mm reg just makes holes in stuff. Like driving a nail threw wood long 9mm.

I never forgot that little event.....if bullet doesnt penetrate then there is left over energy.....dont shoot steel straight on
