this series has almost been completely forgotten but not by my family we have the whole series and watch it almost daily one of the greatest tv shows in all history...

stargate is god among other shows for me. just hope that they would release new dvd/bluray remastering and in smaller set

R.I.P Joel Goldsmith. He died due to cancer on the 29.04.2012. He was a great composer, and I surely can't imagine the Stargate Franchise without his fantastic music. Hollywood just lost a great man.
I can't tell how many times I've watched every season over and over again. I just wish I could find this one music part where the flute is really nice. I love this show and hands down had to be the best show ever created. I wish they didn't cancel the rest of the Atlantis seasons :(

In my honest opinion SGU wasted resources that could have been used for more SGA
I've been marathonning SG-1 the past month from my old DVD's. Haven't in about 5 years. It is positively stunning how amazing this show was. The acting, the chemistry, the music, the plotlines, the mythology....
Folks - this was simply one-of-a-kind television. Be thankful for it and treasure it. :)
Thankfully I got the DVD-collection all all seasons of SG-1 and SG: Atlantis. I started to re watch this for the n'th time.

This is the theme that plays in S5E3 Ascension, as Orlin's theme. It does not play anywhere in episode S5E21 where Daniel ascends even though a lot of people seem to remember so.

This is a really moving song for a really moving scene. That scene had me in tears, it was so beautifully done. I praise Joel Goldsmith for this song, and the other brilliant songs in Stargate SG-1 as well. It really is beautiful.

It's actually amazing how much fantastic music he wrote for the stargate franchise. And for three years he was writing the music for TWO series!
I think he did his best, most emotive, inspiring, beautiful & haunting music for SGU. Her certainly had more freedom as far as user of instruments, styles, moods and genres for SGU. There are all kinds of things you hear in that soundtrack that he never used in the previous series.
It would be really awesome if a collection of his music for stargate was released...
All these years later it still brings me to tears as does sam n Jack's love theme.

i was the same way i teared up too. it was funny though later when that one guy had the ancient stone and was sharing memories with jack and he saw daniel die and he started crying, i was like good thing i wasn't the only one who cried.

What you have to love about Daniel is he must have known what would happen if he tried to stop Anubis. But he didn't care, and he still tried to save the people he cared about.

The second show that made me cry was BSG when president roslin died.
All very sad.
Its the sad song because Daniel Die and his my second favorite character but he's come back after 1 or 2 next seasons and the rest of the series :D
You know the description of the video is wrong.
This particular piece was not from the episode where Daniel died (S5 Ep21 - Meridian), but from an earlier episode from that season called Ascension, the episode where we meet Orlin :)

@girlwhowasntthere actually this is also used for Daniel during season 6, so it's of implied that since it was Orlin's theme as well, that it works for all ascended beings.

@Theacientstone80 Scientists believe that there is something like the stargate that has yet to be found, so yeah, it is possible, it would be ironic if we did find it, it did look like the stargate and we did encounter aliens like the Gho'ould and jaffa :)

Well in a way i suppose it's possible.
All what we are, is electrical impulses in our brain, and some brainac once said "it's impossible to destroy energy, but it can be changed" or something like that. So in a way i suppose we live on ones we die ..

@lolwut112 In order for something to change into a different form of energy, something has to force it to. As in, a machine of sorts. Besides, do you know how much energy would be released if one were to suddenly transform into light and heat? Enough to probably incinerate the whole planet. Also, this has always bugged me, what kind of energy form do you transform into when you 'ascend?'
Ehm, u left out one serious fact... There were two ways of ascension, one was evolution(like most of the ancients did) or if another "ascended" being helps u... We don't know what happens if body reachces the ascension at the evolution stage(something like that machine which nearly ascended Mckay), but if ascended being helps you i have no problem to believe that they would be capable to give an energy "boost" necessary for the ascension to begin and/or absorb any dangerous energy, that would be result of said ascension/
This theme is more associated with Orlin, so wrong place for that quote :p

So... If someone sowhere in the universe found out about ascension and found their way into it on their own, would they then have to follow the rules of the Ancients? Isn't it kind of unfair? The Ancients are like "ha! Got here first, now we are the ultimate rulers of this plain of existence"

That episode "Threads" (S08E18) is undoubtedly one of the best of the series! It's a shame that the full 90-minute version is so hard to find! And that it isn't played when the series is re-aired/syndicated. And especially that it wasn't even included in many editions of the box sets! Supposedly, owners could mail in the DVD containing that episode to have it replaced by one with the FULL version on it. But I'm sure that was for a limited time only.
