  • Its not often you get two legends of Indian badminton in the same frame but when they do they have a lot to talk about. Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu sat down with Meha Bhardwaj in a freewheeling chat about badminton and much more . From talking about the first time Saina Nehwal met her husband Parupalli Kashyap to the moment she realized he was the one for her, this game of 21 had it all. Saina also opens up about an opponent she secretly dreads playing. That's not all, What is Parupalli Kashyap like when he coaches her? Is he aggressive and likely to give in to his wife's wishes? Saina says he is just the opposite and has even made her cry. Saina also gives us tips on how to succeed in life and prides herself on being a fighter.

People don't realise the importance of Saina in Indian badminton. When Saina started playing, the condition of Indian badminton was pathetic. The best Indian female player was Aparna Popat till then who couldn't dream about winning even a Superseries-level tournament. The condition of male players was no better. But Saina changed everything. She not only popularised badminton in India to a different level but also gave inspiration to younger players like Sindhu to think and achieve big. BTW, Saina is still the first Indian and also the only Indian female to become World no. 1 in Badminton.

    Saina nehwal vs PV Sindhu
Who is better ? As a fan I researched a lot in this 😆
    2 occasions :-
A- Both at their personal best and in fittest forms
In scenario I guess PVS will win.
Proof:- 2019 world cup and 2018 Super Series Finals.
Saina nehwal on the other hand couldn't defeat THE BEST in their prime(especially on big occasions) like she could defeat Marin after 2016 only once she couldn't defeat Tai since 2013, she couldn't defeat yihan till 2012 she struggled against li xr through her career, She could defeat yamaguchi only twice, she struggled against chen yf.
Sindhu on the other hand has defeated all of them in their prime except rising star an se young
2nd scenario :- Both not at their best
Saina Nehwal will defeat PV Sindhu
PV Sindhu always struggled against even ordinary players in world tour 😒 like Katethong, Sayaka takahashi etc. Saina in her prime was more comfortable against ordinary players like Sayaka Sato, Sung ji hyun, Bae yun ju or juliane.

@@kulveersingh2117 exactly it is a players responsibility to be fit and recover from injuries quickly.
But after 2016 saina's form deteriorated. She was never like before. Even after 2015 her form was declining. In 2015 she was world no 1 but at the rio she was world no 5.
But sad thing is that indian die hard fans always blame injury for bad performance. Even Saina herself.
Nadal federer carolina marin etc had no of injuries but they recovered so why saina as a champ couldn't ???

I can not say it was accidental coz at the end she had defeated tine Baun (one of the best that time) to reach semis.
But yeah she was lucky no doubt. Also when marin retired.

Yeah Saina is clearly jealous of Sindhu. Didn't even congratulate her on winning bronze. Also she does not follow her on instagram. The rivalry is more than evident. Sindhi is simple and does not like to complicate things. Couldn't have she said that yes we are on court rivals ofc but off court we are friends. No she went on to justify why we don't eat, we are professionals, we don't have time bla bla. Not hating on Saina but she needs to act maturely like a real sportsperson.
