The main reason for what is happening is that the referees are not fulfilling their function, where they not only need to change the score, but also monitor the culture of the players. After the Olympics/WC, Marin was allowed to behave in a similar way on the court, without ever being given a red card for it! She got used to it and it became the norm. This is the worst thing in current badminton, a player who under normal refereeing simply would not have the opportunity to play and allow the younger generation to see that such behavior is acceptable. This is a true shame for BWF.

Everyone who saw the match live knew how Marin behaved and the umpire always called Sindhu and warned her first. It was the umpire's decision to not take any action and just keep warning which has led to such behaviour of Marin. If only a Marin would have been penalized at least by giving her opponent a point things could have gotten under control. In fact a red card would have made much more sense . being a badminton player myself I thunk it was strategy from Marin's side to mentally pull down Sindhu's game and she finally succeeded .But having said that I think at such times the game should be stopped completely till good behaviour sets in even if time is delayed. That would be a good lesson fro players not to behave in such uncouth manner. Winning is important but more important is comradeship between players.

@5:28 it's 100% not in the "middle of the court" when she needs to bend down that much to go under the net and get cross to retrieve the shuttle. Also the referee was wrong for not doing anything about Marin's continues misconducts and only react when the India player retaliated. Marin is notorious to be very un-sportsmanship to many other badminton players. One of the most awful one was when her accused a Chinese player of faking her injury and such when the Chinese player had a career ending injury in a game against her during the Rio Olympics. Now she got injured in this Olympics and nobody is feeling sorry for her.
