    I know whatever featured here is a sample too small to come to any conclusions, but from common sense and general knowledge of western individualistic culture and free expression vs eastern others-centric culture and community-mindedness, you can see it manifested in sportsmanship. Axelson is indeed a true gem with all-around great player and the sportsmanship to go with it. He's also one of the few really tall badminton players to have overcome the weak-points of most tall players, including shots directed at the hip and neck/shoulder-blade areas which are on the same side as the dominant hand, because the longer limbs take a nano second longer to reach and defend those specific spots.

    • @hommelwijf
      @hommelwijf Год назад +8

      While your reasoning makes sense I think there's a lot of selection bias involved here from the video maker. There are countless examples of Asian players lacking sportsmanship (minions on many occasions, Chinese/Korean WD in London, those Thai players that had a fistfight, just to name a few), but they chose not to include those. That's not to say Asian players are less sportsmanlike, but rather that you can tell any story you like with a video like this really.

    I think there's a big difference between being angry at yourself and being disrespectful. Breaking/throwing your racket or kicking the shuttle after the match is more just frustration, whereas giving a poor handshake or knocking the shuttle far away when giving it to your opponent to serve is actual disrespect.

He was not able to walk by any means but managed to come back to the court to stand for one last point and give his teammates and opponents of the day the opportunity to finish their All-England Final by winning themselves. Thank you for the video. Yes, there are all types on court and off court. These are some that was capture on video. Other tantrums I have seen on court before was disguise as an injury. During the Singapore Open several years ago, the last match of the day was between Axelsen and Lin Dan. Lin requested to the official that his assigned court be change to a court with line cameras but was turn down. During a controversial decision by the Umpire in overruling the line judge, Lin lost his cool and approach the Umpire to concede a walkover. When ask, he sighted calf muscle cramp. Later, Newspaper asks him, and he said the same but ironically, he walks off the court well and rather quickly as most boo him for his disrespect to his opponent and fans that came to watch him play.
