    Tom Dreesen is STILL with us (as of 9/6/2022) and wonderful!! Charles almost never applauds Gene when he comes out...or when contestants leave.

    Tom Dreesen was later in Spaceballs the Spaceball trooper who was shaving.
    And yes I agree. Richard seems to be livening up again. Definite improvement compared to the past few weeks.

    H/H match update and preview of the week ahead:
    ...
    This is now week 239 of our favorite classic game show (the show ends with week 291 and episode number 1455). These episodes were taped on March 4, 1978, and originally aired in early to mid-April of 1978.
    Our three stalwart regulars are all in their places with bright, shiny faces, and for the first time in several weeks, there's a newbie on the panel! Joining our regulars this time are:
    ~~~Semi-regular Joyce Bulifant is back after a bit of an absence (we last saw her back in episodes 1126-1130). This will be her 33rd week (of 38 total). Joyce is perched near the top of the head-to-head leader board, with her 75% accuracy score (3 wins in 4 attempts). Will this finally be the week when we add a bit more data to her stats (and break that perma-tie with Jo Anne Worley)?
    ~~~Debralee Scott returns for her 7th week (of 10 total), having most recently appeared in episodes 1141-1145. After 30 shows so far, Debralee has yet to be chosen to answer her first H/H question.
    ~~~Last but not least, Tom Dreeson joins the panel for his first and only week.
    King Richard was the unanimous choice for the H/H again last week, now making 11 straight weeks.
    Reviewing the past 93 weeks, Richard has played *411* times. Everyone else combined played *54* times. (Charles had 17 opportunities, Brett 13, Fannie 13, Betty 3, Lynn Deerfield 1, Gary Burghoff 1, Rosemary Forsyth 1, Nipsey Russell 1, Meg Bennett 1, Scoey Mitchell 1, Trish Stewart 1, and Marcia Wallace 1.) Percentage-wise, Richard continues to climb - he's now answered *88.4%* of all the H/H questions during these past 93 weeks.
    Richard starts the week off with a very good track record, having matched 42.3% of his H/H questions, now just a bit ahead of Brett's accuracy score (also 42.3%), but well behind Charles's and Joyce's awesome scores (48.6% and 75.0%, respectively).
    Will someone, anyone, other than Mr. Dawson get to answer a H/H question this week? Eventually, yes, someone will, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it to happen this week. But we'll see...
    ~~~Today's action:
    Once again, that classic old Match Game answer comes through for a victory. Yes, our champ wins his second game thanks to Brett's "Right or Left Bosom." (Only Joyce went in a different direction: "Fanny.")
    *Today's audience match question: "Take Your________"*
    (My thoughts: Time, Pick, Medicine)
    The celebs: Richard (Pick), Brett (Time), Charles (Seat)
    The choice: Time
    The answers: Seat, Pick, Time
    Not bad. He's picked the top answer both times now. And I imagine he'll pick Richard for the H/H again, given they did match last time.
    He does. This is now King Richard's 63rd consecutive H/H attempt. (No other celeb has played a head-to-head question since Fannie in 1132.)
    Oh, I just looked back, and there hasn't been a single H/H match on a "Monday" (the first day of a new panel) since episode 1156, seven weeks ago! Will the jinx be broken this week???
    Stats: Richard has matched 153 of his 352 most recent attempts (43.5%), 92 of his last 212 attempts (43.4%), 45 of his past 104 attempts (43.3%), 31 of his past 77 attempts (40.3%), and 14 of his past 35 attempts (40.0%). His overall success rate is *42.3%* and this is his 830th attempt so far.
    For the sake of comparison: Joyce has matched 3 of her 4 attempts (75.0%), Charles has matched 34 of his 70 attempts (48.6%), Richard has matched 351 of his 829 attempts (42.3%), and Brett has matched 30 of her 71 attempts (42.3%). Neither Debralee Scott nor Tom Dreeson has yet answered a H/H question.
    *Today's H/H question: "________in the World"*
    (What in the world? That's my first and best answer.)
    Richard is seen glancing toward Joyce as he writes his answer. The contestant appears to still be thinking as the bell dings.
    Our champ gives an answer I discarded without even writing down. "Peace in the World," he says. When I thought of that, I decided it should be "Peace on Earth," so I didn't think it worthy of consideration. Am I wrong? I have been before! (The audience offers lukewarm or slightly better applause.)
    Oh dear. Richard had my answer. (Or I had his, given he wrote it first, about 46 years ago!) - "What"
    No H/H match today.
    ~~~Here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy:
    (An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.)
    (For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.)
    Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts).
    TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts).
    TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts).
    Gary Burghoff - 71.4% (5 wins in 7 attempts).
    Betty - 50.0% (19 wins in 38 attempts).
    Charles - 48.6% (34 wins in 70 attempts).
    Fannie - 48.5% (16 wins in 33 attempts).
    (*)Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts).
    Richard - 42.3% (351 wins in 830 attempts). (42.2891%)
    Brett - 42.3% (30 wins in 71 attempts). (42.2535%)
    Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts).
    *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 1191, excluding the missing/damaged/unavailable episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 645, 910, 1024, 1025, 1026, 1027, 1028, 1029, and 1030. *Also, note that episode 849 was never produced. (These stats do, however, include the H/H results of missing episode 968 as those results were revealed in episode 969. Note: There was no H/H in missing episode 1035, as we learn in 1036.)
    Billy Barty was great as Hugo in Dr. Shrinker! and also as Sigmund on Sigmund and the Seamonsters! which also had Mary Wicks (often on Match Game) as aunt Zelda and later Rip Taylor was Sigmund's sea genie, also Margaret Hamilton (wicked Witch of the West) made occasional appearances on Sigmund as the nosy next door neighbor. Krofft was as great as Match Game. Watched them all again here on youtube.
    Is Gene been/is sick again like back MG75? He is looking a little thin in the face, not as thin as I have seen in some of the syn episodes, and I usually can tell in his voice.. Granted, yes he is 60 years old here and been drinking alot of "hot? tea" lately on the set. He had his tie and shirt unbutton at the end, uncharacteristically for him, and Joyce leaving the set and coming back looks kind of odd. Of course it didn't help that Gene told her to come back here and then you see the top of her head in Charles camera shot. Probably the only one wondering.. Maybe just tired, jet lagged or got hot on set as he would say in MG77.. But anyway, carry on...I was just wondering..
