I love the way Sharon overemphasized "Hah-vahd" when introducing herself...everyone I've ever met from Boston does that to make fun of how people make fun of their accents.
H/H match update and End-of-Week Recap: ... ~~~Today's Action: As the previous episode concluded, our champion was soundly defeated (6 to 0) and departed with a smile after winning 3 games and $6,300. So we begin today with our new champion's first go at the big money... *Today's (first) audience match question: "Parker________"* (My thoughts: Brothers, ???, ???) Too early for Parker Posey... The celebs: Richard (Brothers), Charles (Pen), Greg (Finley*) *I'm not entirely sure what he was saying: Findley? Fenley? The choice: Brothers The answers: House Rolls, Brothers, Pen He's got a shot at $2,500. I bet he'll pick Richard. This is King Richard's ninth consecutive play, and he's been chosen 137 of the past 151 times. (Charles answered five of the remaining questions, Fannie took three, and Rosemary Forsyth, Nipsey Russell, Meg Bennett, Scoey Mitchell, Brett, and Trish Stewart got one each.) Stats: Richard has matched 82 of his 192 most recent attempts (42.7%), 65 of his last 149 attempts (43.6%), 45 of his last 99 attempts (45.5%), and 21 of his last 52 attempts (40.4%). His overall success rate is *41.9%* and this is his 670th attempt so far. For the sake of comparison: Joyce has matched 3 of her 4 attempts (75%), Charles has matched 33 of his 68 attempts (48.5%), Brett has matched 29 of her 69 attempts (42.0%), Richard has matched 280 of his 669 attempts (41.9%). Greg and Roz haven't had a shot at a H/H question yet. *Today's H/H question: "Sample________"* (Sample size. I can't think of anything better.) Everyone looks perplexed. Richard is gazing off to his left, and after a moment asks Gene to spell it. "I can't think of one either," says Gene. With a somewhat defeated expression, Richard finally writes his answer. The champion answers "Case" and the audience seems to like it. I do too. Nope. Richard wrote "Candy's" (sic). No H/H match today. ~~~ Our champion's "bozoom" earns him a second victory. *Today's (second) audience match question: "Werner________"* (My thoughts: Erhard, ???, ???) Definitely not liking today's audience match questions! The celebs: Richard (Klemperer), Brett (Erhard), Roz (von Braun) The choice: Klemperer The answers: Brothers, von Braun, Klemperer Tune in "next week" to see who our champion picks for his second go at the head-to-head match! ~~~The Week that Was: With an audience match fail on "Wednesday", we finished the week with only 4 questions. Worse, we saw just one match all week: Richard 1/4 Recapping this week's panelists: *Richard* had a sub-par week, matching one out of four attempts, and his overall average slipped from 41.9% to 41.8%, falling a tiny bit further behind Brett. *Charles* didn't play a H/H question this week, maintaining his excellent 48.5% accuracy. *Brett* sat out for the sixth consecutive week as far as the H/H, holding steady with a good 42.0% H/H accuracy rating. *Joyce* Bulifant finished her 28th week of 38, maintaining her 75% accuracy rating (3 wins in 4 attempts). *Greg* Morris completed his 6th week of 7, still without answering a head-to-head question. *Roz* Kelly completed her second and final week, "retiring" as a Match Game panelist without ever having a shot at the H/H match. ~~~Looking ahead, these are the faces we'll see joining our three stalwart regulars next week: -----After one week off, semi-regular Fannie Flagg will return for her 62nd week of 90. She boasts a terrific H/H track record: 48.3% (14 wins in 29 attempts). -----Mary Ann Mobley will return for her ninth week (of 10 total). We last saw Mary Ann in episodes 876-880, so it's been a while. Mary Ann is one of only 38 celebrities who have scored a H/H match (she stands at one match in five attempts). -----Last but not least, Anson Williams will rejoin the panel for his second and final week (he first appeared in episodes 261-265 way back in 1974). Anson hasn't been chosen for a H/H question yet. ~~~Finally, here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (Note: An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.) (Note: For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.) Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 71.4% (5 wins in 7 attempts). Betty - 50.0% (19 wins in 38 attempts). Charles - 48.5% (33 wins in 68 attempts). Fannie - 48.3% (14 wins in 29 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Brett - 42.0% (29 wins in 69 attempts). Richard - 41.8% (280 wins in 670 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 1015, excluding the lost/missing/damaged episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 645, and 910. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!") -- Also, note that episode 849 was never produced. Additionally, these stats do, however, include the H/H results of missing episode 968 as those results were revealed in episode 969.
Michael Gelman. Of course it's not the same guy, but how many know Michael Gelman, longtime executive producer of the morning show LIVE? Somebody said in the previoius video that it's a different spelling. Not sure how that person would know that?
I be wondering if anyone knew if the Live Gelman was from Maryland, but the guy didn't say he wanted to be broadcasting or was studying it but when did Live start?
Here are the results for this week: Richard was the only won who gave any money away at a total of $7,000. Richard also won for the most matches at a total of 14. Charles matched 9 times, Greg and Brett matched 7 times, and Roz and Joyce tied matching 5 times.
That Bavarian couldn't forget, what never existed. No german would say "Übermensch". That's Nazi term. Superman is in Germany Superman. "Super" has been used in the german language for a long time. Instead of "man" you could say "Mann" or "Held" (hero). In the 40s there was no "Superman" in Germany - the Nazis didn't like him, because in the american magazine he fought against Hitler and Mussolini and they prohibited publication of the magazine. After the war there were only 3 issues published in the 50s: "Supermann" (with 2 n). But the Germans knew the magazine, the GIs brought it to Germany. Then "Superman" was first published again in 1966 (now with 1 n).
What did Richard say about Werner Klemperer? "He supplied his own uniform."?? Klemperer left Germany at the age of 12. He has never been in the German Army.
@@templetolleson Sure, Richard was a well educated man and thinking logically. Why should he tell such a flat and cheap joke, that doesn't work? He seemed convinced of what he said.
He may have bought a real uniform and preferred its authenticity to the television show's costume. I've heard of different actors doing similarly, especially with military uniforms, or pushing the producer/studio to acquire genuine uniforms. Uniforms are very detailed, made just so, and it matters a lot to history buffs. Many of the American actors who were often in Westerns had genuine pistols, saddles, etc., actresses use period family jewelry and hand fans, and so on.
@@dagmarkiontkeThey were together on Hogan Hereos for years. That may have been an inside joke. Either way it's not a big deal, you tell a joke and sometimes it bombs.
@kristabrewer6736 You read of course thar Richard gave away 7k this week? The MOST of ANY celebrity. No wonder most of the civilians pick Richard when they want to win money. 7K last week!
I couldn't think of another Werner - except maybe Verner's Ginger Ale. Certainly Richard would have the winning answer - having worked with him on Hogan's Heroes. I had no idea he brought his own Nazi uniform. That's amazing. Also, I'm sure they never got hate mail from thin skinned Germans who were offended by Gene's mocking of their accents. It's probably because Germans aren't thin skinned. Being victims doesn't readily occur to them. Actually, a lot of white people are like that.
I came up with the name Werner Herzog during the super match. I had to use google to find that he was a German film maker who was active during the 1970's.
The racism, sexism and homophobia is really strange to see - I know it was a different time, but it strikes me that I was there to watch these the first time around and didn't see anything wrong then.

Interesting for sure.
Parker Brothers was my first thought however Parker Stevenson was my second thought.
MINE, too! 😉
Parker Brothers is what I would said for the audience match.

"THROW IT, DON'T TRY AND KILL ANYBODY!"

I only thought of Parker Brothers.
Since Parker Lewis Can't Lose show wasn't on for another 15 years or so
Sample size
Parker Stevenson
It's really great to see a contestant from my home state of Massa2shits, after Charles said shoe FLY I finally got it DUUUH

I thought so to, and love hes from my state Maryland 🙂
