Man, seeing Chris in his old home doing the hawk bit... It's such a striking thing to see the grown-up, wiser (hopefully) and accomplished version of Chris sitting in the place where he started and just uttering the same words he once did, in the very same place, on the same platform to the same people, but a decade later. It makes me feel oddly emotional because I'm really happy for him, and at the same time its kind of the ultimate proof that no matter how humble your beginnings, in the end just persevering will bring you to a place where you'll feel grateful and proud of every moment that led you there- it'll all have been worth it.
Congratulations on another succesful journey across Japan, Chris!

It hits right in the feels. I hope John has a happy and memorable time in Japan and that Chris still has many more adventures to go on. Thanks for the motivation you give us, Chris, to go out and live life as an adventure.

I remember I was in a similar situation that in 2012 I moved to Italy and I've been living here ever since and I always wanted to visit Japan and found Chris' channel at the end of 2014 and immediately booked my flight to Japan in 2015. I am so inspired by these videos and I've set a goal to do something similar when my kids grow up (to visit all prefectures in Japan)! I just wanted to say thank you for all the videos you and the team work so hard on. I have extremely bad anxiety which stops me from even leaving the house most days, let alone travelling (along with travel sickness). So being able to watch all of your videos, seeing Japan and all the wonderful (and strange!) things you get to see...it helps me a lot. It feels as if I'm travelling with a group of friends, you all make me smile and laugh so much! I deeply appreciate everything you do, and the extreme things you put yourselves through. Wishing you all the best!

I just love how Pete’s bag is chilling in the snow during his intro and the challenge presentation. I’m surprised it didn’t end up buried with all that snow 😂

This JAJ captured everything I loved about the first one. Not everything works out perfectly, sometimes you end up sleeping in the freezing cold in a tent. But it doesn't matter because you and the people you're with make it special. Can't wait for the next one!

I really like that you were able to visit your old apartment and relieve those memories. John is a good host and it was nice for him to reach out and allow you to film in his apartment.

Ah man something so bittersweet about seeing you go back to that original apartment. Life always seems to move forward so fast that we often don't get a chance to go back to those places that were crucial to our formative years. Really glad you were able to have that experience and that I was able to see it makes me think about where I've been and where I'll be in 10 years. Here's to another great new year for Abroad in Japan!

For me this is one of the best video Chris ever made. Making us feels emotional by his nostalgic stories by the end of the trip feels like, something. Kudos for everyone that has been in Chris' journey for 12 years. Thank you for existing, sire. You make, not only mine but everyone here's life, full of joy and happiness ^^

THAT ENDING oh my gosh I remember that video vividly, I can’t believe I’ve been watching you since 2012. Has it really been that long? If I could do anything different, I wish I had started my RUclips channel sooner - but good on you lad and proud of your journey. Happy to be a part of it in some way, looking forward to working on a few videos of my own. You’ve inspired one I’m working on at the moment. Many thanks and cheers Chris! 🫡😎

I can't believe that this really is the final episode already, it was sooo much fun watching these whenever they came out. It's truly insane that you and your team have been able to put out such high quality videos every few days. Of course I'd like that to always be the case, but this had to have been exhausting and it's probably for the better that you can rest a little now. Still, you visited so many cool places with so many cool people, I really wish I could do that some day.
In short: Thank you so much for another incredible Journey Across Japan!

Nobody makes videos like you Chris and it is incredibly inspiring. There's a fine balance between entertainment, education, silliness and humour to your videos that works so well. It was a nice touch to end it off at your old apartment especially after reading the book and reading about your experiences in there. Non-stop North was truly a great.

Heavy nostalgia in this video. Must have felt surreal to step back in time to where it all began like that.
It’s all thanks to Chris and all the videos since the beginning in that apartment that made me fall in love with Japan and made me want to travel around the entire country.
So it feels like such a privilege and success to be watching a journey across Japan actually in Japan right now as i’m nearing the end of my own 6 month journey across the japan, across the entire country that you and all of these amazing videos inspired!
Without you and these incredible videos inspiring me constantly, I would’ve never made the changes and put in the effort to make my dreams into a reality. So in a sense these videos really did change my life so thank you.
Thank you Chris for your dedication to putting out the best japan content out there!!❤️❤

Hey Chris! I'm yet another long time silent enjoyer of your videos and I just had to say that this series truly was something special! From the crazy beginning to a beautiful and bittersweet end, I looked forward to each and every video while donning a big smile through every single episode.
Having visited Japan for the first time last year in what was genuinely the greatest experience of my life, its been a goal of mine to live and work there at any capacity possible ever since and I genuinely have you to thank. I binged a TON of your videos prior to visiting which helped me immensely in navigating Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto, all while giving me the much needed encouragement and hype to know how and why we enjoy Japan for what it is!
So thank you and your editing team for all of the effort and love you guys put into every single video as they give me a sense of comfort and sonder from missing Japan so much. While I'm sad to see this series end, I look forward to what you come up with in the future and I hope I can fulfill my dream of living there someday. Much love from Canada!

I honestly can't help but tear up on that last apartment bit.
I literally thought "hold up, where the bloody hell have I heard this", and realising it's the first video, I just felt nostalgia as I also remember first watching your videos.
It's like a long, long long beautiful adventure anime and the ending just paid tribute to the very first moments of the entire story.
It's been such a journey, I've been watching them since "Teaching Swear Words to Japanese People" and haven't missed an episode since,
as well as possibly 87% of the reason why I'll be going to Japan for a holiday for the first time next week.
Thank you so much Chris, and here's hoping to more Journey Across Japan, or literally any new video (and podcast episodes).
Hopefully though the video titles become better and does not downplay how huge and meaningful most of the episodes actually contain, such as this one.
I hope this comment gets seen by you Chris, in the thousands of comments here.
Again, all the best, and looking forward to more. And thank you for inspiring me to visit Japan.
What a journey, amazing friends, staff, production, and videos.

Gosh, It’s been about 10 years now I’ve been watching the shenanigans of Natsuki and Chris. I’m happy to be a part of the AIJ community and I’m super proud of Chris and the rest of the crew for everything they’ve accomplished. Congrats on another banger JAJ series!
