    I recently stumbled upon your channel and I've gotta say I'm so glad we have someone like you talking about Studio 4c!
    It honestly feels like I fell through a rabbit hole of great artists and directors after discovering Animatrix and Genius Party. Now not all of their shorts make sense narratively but what I appreciate is that they give their artists the chance to flex their creativity and produce whatever the hell they wanted. I mean, with their talent they easily could produce something a bit more commercial; but what I love about them is that they WANT to take risks and create things that nobody's ever seen before.
    Thank you for taking the time to highlight this wonderful studio! Koji Morimoto is honestly my hero, and my favorite projects from the studio is Tekkonkinkreet and Memories

    Somehow i ended up watching GP with my girlfriend. By the time we got to the philosophical one we had to quit, we even tried to go through it what felt like various minutes but it just kept going. Which was a shame because when i got to watch by myself the rest i really liked what was left, they were very sweet shorts, specially the one that goes after (the whole baby growing up thing). I've still got to watch GPB, although i've seen the first one for some reason. You are killing it with 4Cember, i'm always on the lookout for what's next. I'm glad (and actually surprised that) i've seen many of their work. Merry xmas!

    I remember getting Genius Party and Genius Party Beyond in a DVD box-set when newly released. Bingewatching the almost three hour runtime. I had very little clue about the creators. But I just love how free and creative these anthology films can be. And I already had a love for the artistic side of anime-products.
    I was generally enjoying most of them. Some were more fun than others. And a couple I never really found that engaging. Then. Then Dimension Bomb... well... hit. I'm not sure if it was the exhaustion of the binge or something else that had made my brain extra susceptible. But I was just agape. And mind blown throughout the runtime of that last short. Once it was over I went for an hour long silent walk trying to just process the audiovisual experience.
    Never taken mind-opening drugs. But that probably is the best analogy. Jodorowsky talks about wanting to make movies that are like taking LSD. Dimension Bomb is probably one of the first times I've seen it happen.
    I recommend watching Genius Party like that. All the way through. With the biggest and best sound and screen system you can scrape up. And when Koji Morimoto's part starts. Crank it from 10 to 11. And let the visuals flash across the view and the sound pump your body.
    Needless to say. I thought his bit was one of the more interesting on Animatrix. But being let loose to just trip out. Dimension Bomb made me into a big fan of his work ever since.

    … The Auteur Anthology is a great model for curiosity… Young and New artists should take good note. Robot Carnival… Neo Tokyo… Animatrix… These things can get money together in a very different way and like The Twilight Zone grant special interest. The Human mind loves a puzzle and these formats offer unique clues for the explorer.
    … This same thinking works very well for comics and Manga as well… give it a think. Ideas change the world.

    • @Stevem
      @Stevem  2 года назад +1

      i dont if the model is viable anymore in the way the industry is now, like you'd just put a reel online instead, that and the need for animation companies is so high that you probs wouldn't have the time

    • @StephenRansom47
      @StephenRansom47 2 года назад

      @@Stevem Apologies, I don’t think so either…. I was thinking of much smaller works. There are a lot of talented artist who are just making content… solo works as a reel that they had just Uploaded. I know that financing is the ruff part But the form is what creates some excitement. These anthologies always captured my thought in strange ways that go beyond the material. They can put the camera into bizarre modes of image and it all connects anyway because they are together… the human mind is cool like that.
      Always love your feedback… I’m just pinning the idea of form.
