  • Today we take our FJ Cruiser off roading at Gulches ohv park in Waterloo, SC. We were only in for a few hours, but had a fantastic time. Gulches is a small off road park in the upstate of SC, and only about a half hour drive from our new home here. We hit maybe half the park, so we will go back for sure!! Come along for the ride!!

    Nice video and thanks for sharing. Just went to Gulches for the first time yesterday and had a blast. Can't say enough nice things about the people running the show out there. Keep those vids rolling man. Always entertaining!

      Thank you for watching, and for the kind words... Ya, Gulches is a great spot. Are you local? I'm in Greenwood, so I live like 25 minutes from Gulches. Great place, though I'm always taken back by how small it is. I get used to places like Windrock, or even Uwharrie, and Gulches just feels like my back yard. But I haven't had a bad time there yet....

      @@EverymanOverland Yeah , I'm in Spartanburg. I have heard several people talk about Uwharrie and would like to check it out too. Got a few upgrades I need to take care of and I'll be ready to go back out. Love to wheel with you sometime if you don't mind wheelin with a rookie.

      @@jaxduxford3945 I'll wheel with just about anyone. Good people out to have a great time, I'm in... Have you been to horse pasture rd? That's close to you, as well as all the north GA trails like Sarah's Creek and Earl's Ford... Hurricane creek isn't all that far either, but if make sure to bring a friend in a second vehicle the first time you do that one. Just in case... All those spots are going to be spectacular with the changing leaves!

    My FJ is pretty stock minus some bilstiens raised about 1"1/2 and some 33 mud terrains. They sit pretty low for what they are.

      Ya I've got the same bilstein struts up front with dobinsons springs. I've got a lot of accessories, but I'm also mostly stock drive train. These things are awesome little trucks...

    Hey Chris, I met you recently at a local bar. Recently had my Tacoma totaled out due to being rear ended, what are your thoughts on a 1st Gen Sequoia for overland? Thanks!

    • @EverymanOverland
      @EverymanOverland  2 года назад +1

      I remember you, you had the Subaru, I think a forester right?
      The sequoia is a great platform just on toyota reliability, but the aftermarket support for it is nowhere near as good as the tacoma/4runner /fj cruiser. It's also getting a bit big to get through most of the trails around here unscathed. If you're ok with some pinstripes, and aren't looking to do the more serious trails, I like it. Lots of room for storage, more power, comfy... All good things.

      @@EverymanOverland Thanks buddy. I'm looking at it tomorrow am. Another Tacoma or a 4 runner was definitely the goal, but a 75000 mile body on frame Toyota with a transfer case for the price is too much to pass up when a 4x4 Tacoma with high miles is going for twice what this is. Thanks again, I'll probably see you around. Really enjoyed the gulches vid. Matt

    That looks like a great place for a quick one or two day trip. Did you happen to notice if the camp grounds were any good?

    • @EverymanOverland
      @EverymanOverland  2 года назад +1

      I saw a few campgrounds, but I wasn't really looking at them. I think it would be a cool place to camp, much like Uwharrie the camp sites are right on the side of the trails. I just wasn't paying attention as I live like 20 minutes from the park so I wouldn't have need to camp there. But I'll be going out again soon, so I'll have a look see and report back.

    • @EverymanOverland
      @EverymanOverland  2 года назад

      Went back this weekend. The camp grounds are all pretty, and cute, but not huge. Most look like you'd only get one truck in there, but they are mostly close to the river, so that'll help the sleeping.
