Very dry Coppinger Cove TN, can we make it out without breaking?
This trip was to a very dry Coppinger Cove TN. If you have been to the Cove, then you know it is all about slippery mud, rocks and all the water crossings. We have never seen The Cove as try as we did on this trip, and even then, it was still a slippery, muddy mess!! Spectacular natural scenery, awesome wheelin', great friends.... Let's just see if we all make it out in one piece!! This trip also convicted me I need a drone. Thank you Lewis and Kristina for the footage!!

    This is actually a good snorkel. I just installed one this morning. Tip 1. The template is not correct. If you fix the drilling template you will not have issues bolting it on and your fender gap will set correct agents the door. 2 do not bend the brackets like he did. If you do you will play hell getting things to fit. 3 you do have to cut about 4 inches off like showen in this video. I cut it 3 different times until it dropped into place. 4 do not mark and drill your a piller until the snorkel is bolted to your fender and setting in its final place. Then mark drill and pop rivit then bolt it to the snorkel. 5 get m6x1.25 hardware with large fender washers for the base and also the a piller. Using this where he used Phillips head screws. Will save you headaches. Enjoy.

      @EverymanOverland 22 дня назад

      @@jeffreyarmas1548 thank you! I appreciate you watching... We just made this trip in early May. September I would expect to have more water. Obviously more rain brings more water. If you've seen my other cove videos, or most anyone's cove video, you'll know that the name of the game there is water crossings and likely body damage. So go prepared, don't go alone, and you'll have an amazing trip. We have a very loose, tentative plan to go back in October if I remember correctly. There's a couple more trails out there that we haven't been to. What vehicle do you plan on taking?

      @EverymanOverland 21 день назад

      @@jeffreyarmas1548 I've heard that it's closed, but I heard that 6 months ago and we're still going. I think the confusion is there's land owners around the cove that don't want people driving down their roads, so they're trying to close the roads. So I'll hear that certain entrances are closed, but I have yet to see that actually in effect. There's also coalmont ohv next door that has effectively closed off that area, though it's not gated. But if you're going to wheel the trails at coalmont, you should pay them their daily fee, they put a lot of work in. But no, this video was shot in May of 24, it's still very much open and accessible.

    Try airing up one tire at a time and have the hose fully pressurized before starting. That way you take the time it takes to fill up the hose internal volume out of the equation.

    If you’re using that tiny “compressor” their likely won’t be much of a difference because the limiting factor will be the “compressor” itself.

      It's not a tiny compressor, these dual cylinder compressors are currently the standard for high output portable compressors at around 11cfm. If it were the compressor, the two systems would have performed the same.

      @@EverymanOverland I stand corrected thank you. I think the lack of a tank may reduce the ability to keep the line pressure consistent hinders the comparison though.

    It is due to the added volume of space between the 1/4 & 3/8 hose

    Unless the 1/4" hose is restricting flow, it will be faster than the 3/8". Basically pressue vs volume. Try it with your shop compressor.

    Under pressure smaller diameter is better whenever there is any other bottle neck in the system, where adversly when there is limited restriction at entry and exit points like an air intake or water pipes where flow can exceed diameter of pipe the more volume in the pipe the better the flow. larger diameter hose for high pressure, the pressuer out competes the restrictive force already but the larger diameter hose has more stretch, adding elasticity and additional room for the air to take up thus taking longer before coming to pressure, more volume to fill , yhus making it harder to reach pressure, and less stable pressure as well

    Well you did all of this and didn't change the fittings... No matter what the hose size is, the style of fittings can only move so much scfm. You would need to change the style of fitting as well. SMH😊

    • @EverymanOverland
      @EverymanOverland 3 месяца назад

      I changed all the fittings I could. Still have to use some 1/4 fittings for the tire chucks. But that won't explain why the 3/8 was 20 percent slower than the 1/4.

    Bench testing my compressor I noticed an increase in output after some back pressure is placed on the system. I think the rings on the piston probably need a little back pressure to “seat” and the compressor then pumps more efficiently. Anyway, perhaps the restrictions of the 1/4” hose created enough back pressure to create the phenomenon I am talking about and the 3/8 didn’t... I think one way you could test this idea is to start the test with the tires at 15psi. It’s closer to real world conditions and creates that initial back pressure on the system which I suspect helps the piston on these compressors seal up.
