Look at Anthony, guy's made of money now, using oxygen to blow out concrete dust, working with the welding equivalent of Gordon Ramsay, having houses all over the US....
Have done similar work to rotten columns on farms. But after the bottom collapsed six inches. Piss and shit from cattle soon eats steel and even galv steel. Used a telehandler to lift the column into place. I didn't make a repair section, just got the nearest size above because the original size was no longer available. Four years later, it's holding up well. Great video guys!
I just did one exactly like that 2 months ago. Fabbed them the same, supported existing column the same and installed them exactly the same way you did that. Worked out fantastic
great work. maybe think about cutting you're column shorter and adding non-shrink/structural grout underneath. mix it up wet and pour it into a small form around the base, it sets up hard in like 3 hours and that way you get complete support under the column. keep up the good work boys
Great video. Your videos are awesome because they show people what actually goes on out in the field and how the work is done. You guys did that repair exactly how I would have done it. Great work
17:17 if your doing any heavy grinding Walter Xcavator discs eat metal like crazy. But wear a face shield and protective clothing because it will launch burning hot slivers of metal at you and it’s painful.
So many things wrong with this: Did an engineer sign off on using GMAW and 6010? Neither are AWS pre approved electrodes for structural applications. Also, that's not a CJP, complete joint penetration without welding the back side, which could have been done by cutting the siding and accessing from the back. Did you even consult an engineer? If not you're exposing yourself to all kinds of liability.
Out of all the welders on youtube I think if anyone could have something that resembles more of a tv show it would be you, I'm glad you still cuss regardless of how much youtube hates free speech.
fertiliser absolutely destroys everything. we have fertiliser spreader trucks and the fert just eats through everything. even made holes bigger than a fist in the cast alloy gearbox
Thanks for all the information you provide to us new to the industry. Can you show how to bevel the h beam so you get a full penetration weld even on the back side . Thank you
How do you get these jobs? Do you go in and ask or is it a website you bid on? Can't remember if you have said before, ive been followin for several years now, also it was awesome to see a nice long video again, I know you been busy and gettin shit done on the home sted.
No doubt, you have a great name in the industry, im 12 yrs in and travel for long term contracts to shipyards perdiem and all that, however I've been building my tools up over the years and waiting to go back home to MS in the next year or year and half and want to do jobs kinda like what you did in this video do you have a website I can bid on jobs like that in my area or do I walk in and say hey yall got some real shit goin on that's needs to be addressed and here's my card?
What’s the guys RUclips channel you was talking about him welding in mud and water and does a job? Great job by the way I enjoy your videos. You tell people how it is
Jesus....... Home Depot needs to hire a mobile sandblaster then paint all that steel. With you moving up to Montana, those building are gonna fall down.😂😅😂😅😂😅😂
Where in Florida? I'm on the east coast Broward. Your skills are quite impressive. I do almost everything and anything DIY but never learned welding. Always wish I did.
I did, I’m going to snow bird every year. Work dries up in winter in Montana. I’m either bringing the white truck back to stay in FL or I’m building a 3rd rig for here
No gap fit up and weld on those plates without beveling? Wouldn’t you be better off getting some scrap beam to splice in rather than risking not having full penetration weld?
I'm a little skeptical of running short circuit MIG on 1/2" plate, especially with only a 200 amp machine. With that limitation, i would've stick welded it. 6010 root and 7018 over that.
Do a video on how to fit parts that dont fit where thet need to fit because of obstructions things in the way and how to shave pieces down with a grinder to make them fit properly. Everything i get where i work never fits right have to constantly grind them down till they fit up against previous welds its tedious at times.
@Meltin Metal Anthony america looks a bit easier to get ad hoc work than the uk 5 min welding job in a big firm is a 6 hour sight induction 2 permits method statement rams welding set needs testing fire watch 3 hours after the job and payment 1-3 months after 😂
Wondering when they made them structurel beams did they dip them in galvanize so they wouldn't rust some dont some do maybe it would have lasted longer if so
Do you use dewalt 20v stuff ? if so they make a sweet bat powered hammer drill 20V MAX Rotary Hammer 1" SDS+ 3 Mode Tool Only Item No. SKU# DCH273B . And old dude can run that torch sorry don't know his name.
Mate get an engineer to sign off on that. The original connection was a moment connection, the repair joint only looks like a simple support, not a moment joint.
@Meltin Metal Anthony I am talking about the initial design of the structure, the column was corroded and it looks to be repaired to a level below the initial design.
Million dollar company couldn't spring for new Girts? Thats the cheapest thing to replace 😄 I also use the red 6010s fuck letting go of 2 Bill's for a box of rods.
Paul is the man. Keep him close! Appreciate seeing some real world cutting and welding. Love the stick action 6010 and 7018!
Real world repairs, performed by 2 great guys! Fantastic work! Love these videos!
Thank you very much!
Look at Anthony, guy's made of money now, using oxygen to blow out concrete dust, working with the welding equivalent of Gordon Ramsay, having houses all over the US....
🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
I thought the same thing 😂
It's so fun seeing you and Paul work together. Yall have such great energy 👍
This guy is pretty complete. Very versatile. It's not just welding but everything around it. Thanks for sharing man..

Loved this one was great to see you and Paul working together again on a project ❤
Thanks
Damn, when you look at this one column it is a miracle that the weight on it didn't break it off
💯
I just did one exactly like that 2 months ago. Fabbed them the same, supported existing column the same and installed them exactly the same way you did that. Worked out fantastic

Great video. Your videos are awesome because they show people what actually goes on out in the field and how the work is done. You guys did that repair exactly how I would have done it. Great work
I appreciate that!
this is my favourite type of videos. making the world safer and they dont even know it
💯
@@MeltinMetalAnthony hope the house is coming along good . All the best man
Hey "snow bird", thanks for another great one.... enjoyed it! Glad to see Paul back the picture....team work!!!
Thanks!
Absolute fantastic video really enjoyed it.enjoyed seeing the parts made then fitted. Great work guys both done a fantastic job 👍👍
Thanks brother!
Loved every bit of it. You two are a great bunch.
Thanks so much!

A classic meltinmetal video. I love it
Thanks brother

I just point the camera and go
Great video I like seeing the entire process. I learn something every time.
Glad to hear it!
Me too
love the real world welding not just someone in a classroom
Hook me up with some of that warm weather work bro!
12:02 keeps the rodents away
Yall do good work one out of the two channels I watch
You're probably right that the fertilizer, probably potash, rusted those columns. You and Paul are a good team
Potash is neutral pH, more likely nitrogen because it contains ammonium..
fertiliser absolutely destroys everything. we have fertiliser spreader trucks and the fert just eats through everything. even made holes bigger than a fist in the cast alloy gearbox
10:06 had me geekin Ant! Really showing off your editing skills there!
Thanks!
Great video, looks like my kind of fun. Beats sitting in a locked room looking at a bunch of stuff I'm not allowed to talk about.
Interesting
Ah just like my childhood
That's me. Got a good paying gov job but rather be burning rod or wire.
good work, best regards from Venezuela
Crazy when you been welding for so long all us welders can just hear when the machine is to high lol as soon as I heard it I was like yup
💯
Great work MMA!!! 👨🏾🏭💵🔥
Thanks 💯
Killer work dude🤘🇨🇦
Badass work bro! ….. I have a question where you guy able to weld the back end?
I love this guy's ending not giving a fuck
Thanks for all the information you provide to us new to the industry. Can you show how to bevel the h beam so you get a full penetration weld even on the back side . Thank you
Nick Bazetes is an insane welder, y'all are killing it though.
Skilled men.
Great video and great work man keep ‘em coming!
That’s not that bad hahahaha, keep grinding fellas 👍

Hell yeah man 🤟🏽 how’d you weld the rear seam facing the wall
We beveled the inside and welded from the inside

He only has Instagram I’m pretty sire
@@MeltinMetalAnthony okay thanks
Good shit. I love watching your videos. You explain shit so good and I’ve learned a lot

One hella of a job good shit Anthony 👍

Great job!!😮
I love my MILLER WELDERS I HAVE DAMN GOOD MACHINES
You are an inspiration bro!
🙌
Dumb question, but what brand 6010 are you using?
love watchin this stuff. i need to get an argon tank, i really wanna learn how to weld, especially tig, it looks so pleasing and fun.
Just curious.....why fabricate the column when it's a standard wide flange beam.
Love your videos
I worked at the company that nicked up fertilizer with AU point at. And all their metal equipment that was near the stuff was rusted out because of it
Harbor Freight light ftw
Nice work! Wheres big Tom when you need him?!
Nice impact socket at 11:52
Where in Florida? I'm on the east coast Broward. Your skills are quite impressive. I do almost everything and anything DIY but never learned welding. Always wish I did.
Excellent video. Fuck, I could watch other people work all day. Smart thinking on making sure there was room for the impact
How are you back in FL?? I thought you moved to Montana!!???
I did, I’m going to snow bird every year. Work dries up in winter in Montana. I’m either bringing the white truck back to stay in FL or I’m building a 3rd rig for here
Were you able to pry the sheet metal out to weld the backside of the beam
Beveled the front, so I got a pull pen from the front
Was the back flange not welded??
Love the videos awsome video
No gap fit up and weld on those plates without beveling? Wouldn’t you be better off getting some scrap beam to splice in rather than risking not having full penetration weld?
My Home Depot has many cats and a few rats too 😅
Whats your go to rod brand?
There where Hobart. I don’t really have a preference
I'm a little skeptical of running short circuit MIG on 1/2" plate, especially with only a 200 amp machine. With that limitation, i would've stick welded it. 6010 root and 7018 over that.
It’ll be fine. I had it at 26 Volts and I think 450 ipm? So it was almost in spray range
Subscribed just because of the last little speech/ outro.. lol. Fuckin class.. godamn right..
One of those not hard but time consuming jobs. Did they want a hard number or did you get them hourly?
I bid it, made more than I bill hourly
Do a video on how to fit parts that dont fit where thet need to fit because of obstructions things in the way and how to shave pieces down with a grinder to make them fit properly. Great video

Great videos. Would you consider doing one on business insurance?
Maybe in the future
Looks good. Do you need structural tickets for repairs like that? Just curious.
No, this was not done by a engineer. So really it was dealers choice when it came to repair method. But I just treated it like d 1.1 open root
Miller matic 210 what’s different between that and 212
J'adore beau travail
Wondering when they made them structurel beams did they dip them in galvanize so they wouldn't rust some dont some do maybe it would have lasted longer if so
That cat is cool...
Awesome
You did not need a fire watch?
2:39 😂😂😂
Dude. I can't believe after all these years I didn't know the difference between an I beam and h
I know from welding h piles under bridges. I called it a I beam and the contractor bit my head off 😂
Are you located in Florida?
During the winter
Those columns look like they belong in an orange juice factory.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
You ever pass through milton/Pensacola stop by dude I'm off exit 22 on i10. You a funny sob....bsafe dude
About damn time
🤣
How did you go on the sheet side of the column haha
Did a full pen weld from the front
@@MeltinMetalAnthony thought so hahaha

I would love to know what they charged for this
10k a column?
Mate get an engineer to sign off on that. The original connection was a moment connection, the repair joint only looks like a simple support, not a moment joint.
It was hanging on by a thread before, what your suggesting is non sense and a waste of time.
@Meltin Metal Anthony I am talking about the initial design of the structure, the column was corroded and it looks to be repaired to a level below the initial design.
Wait yall in home depot why not ask to use a shop vac or blower😭😭 I just realized this almost at the end of vid😭😭
I feel like I’m going to look like Anthony when I’m his age
I hope not, I’m a ugly fucker
