After just one week of a snow storm two weekends ago theres crater sized pot holes all over main roads in the city. Liberty Avenue the right lane near the Strip District going towards downtown is ridiculous. I can't even drive in that lane or my tire will surely pop. They filled a bunch of pot holes with just gravel over the summer or cold patching. This video looks far worse than the news video when the Mayor spoke. I pray no one was hurt either. I can't imagine the trauma all of those people are going through. That would make me never want to drive or take a bus again. All those people should be getting money for being put through that. The last time the bridge was inspected it barely passed inspection. I pray this doesn't happen anywhere else in the city. They don't fix areas that need it on roads. Especially if that bridge is a main bus route...

Well, McGann and Chester are going to get to play go fish, and when they reappear on the surface, they’ll be likely towed off to service. Automotive insurance would eat it, and then go after the city. 3309 is a 2013, so depending on rear end damage, would likely be buffed out at East Liberty. Given the 2011’s (3200 series) are still on the road, it’s not likely to be a write off.

    G'day,
    Pro. Tip...
It was not the weight of the Snow, which broke the Bridge.
My guess is that Salting the Roads for the sake of convenient Snow-Melting every winter since the Bridge was built..., has accelerated the inevitable corrosion of the Steel Reinforcement Mesh and Bars and Cables within the Concrete Slabs...; leading to a phenomenon known as "Concrete Cancer" which to some degree afflicts all Concrete Structures built within 50 miles of the Surfline..., here in Oz (where no Roads are ever "Salted"...; because the State PoLice are empowered to require Snow Chains to be fitted in order to drive on Public Roads, as required locally, while the Snow is causing problems.
    Cultural Differences.
Salt rusts Vehicles fast, too ; and AmeriKa LOVES selling New Vehicles.
Now they need a lot of New Bridges, YESTERDAY, all across and up and down the whole Country.
    Have fun with that.
    Such is life,
    Have a good one...
    Stay safe.
    ;-p
    Ciao !

    • @sugarfalls1
      @sugarfalls1 2 года назад

I remember you saying something like this last year about another PA bridge. Do you remember that? Great information about "Concrete Cancer". Yes rock salt is very abrasive on driveways, etc. I try to put some water on it after it's been out for a few days. Sometimes even snow, I guess will melt it all. Spraying it with fast spraying water at an automatic car wash really gets it off.

      G'day,
      Thanks.
I live 130 miles inland, at 3,650 ft above Sea Level, and locals here won't ever buy a second hand car which has previously lived at the Coast - because the Salt-Spray in the Air means that unless they've been washed with fresh water a couple of times a week then they turn into Rust Buckets within 5 or 10 years.
      Cultural Differences, I guess.

I wouldn't call that a "cultural difference". That's a legal difference. Australia has a lot of laws that have a negative impact on its citizens. However, we're only talking about salt so I won't go down that road. Every country has laws that are appropriate and ones that need a bit of a tweak. I'm not talking about re-writing the constitution.

This isn't about America having poor infrastucture. This is about local state and federal government not maintaining the infrastucture we do have and doing wasteful things with the tax payers money. I wouldn't support any infrastucture bill. The bill will just be used to get more tax money out of the American public while the politicians will carry on same as usual wasting our money and giving it to their special interest.
