We love the San Diego Zoo, if your going for the first time I suggest definitely take the tour bus first to get a feeling of the zoo since it's huge, but then find the gondola near the entrance and ride it to the top, the zoo is basically built into a big hill and if you start from the entrance you will be walking up hill all day, but if you ride the gondola you start at the top and work your way mostly downhill toward the exit. It will save your legs.

Shout out to my hometown and zoo. I was lucky enough to grow up with it in my backyard. Plenty of good memories about summer school and volunteering here.

Hi I’m wondering if you’ve ever been to sea world? We’re taking a cruise and can only do one thing. I really wanted to do the zoo because it’s popular and amazing but now we’re debating if we should do sea world or the zoo. I haven’t been to either, but I grew up in Toronto so I’ve experienxed the huge Toronto zoo many many times.
I live in SD and I always thought everyone had a zoo like us when I was a kid lol awesome to know I was lucky enough to live next to this wonderful place my whole life

My daughter's dad was just smiling like he had not a care in the world while pushing the stroller of our 3-year-old child. Except the seat was empty, and he had no clue. We found her 3 enclosures down, pushing people out of the way. Trying to see the sea lions. This was at the San Diego Zoo. I got lost there as a kid of 8 years old and it's so big it was scary. Back in those days, kids admissions were free. So mom took us almost every weekend!
My granddad has the heart of a lion and a life time ban from the San Diego Zoo.

San Diego native here, San Diego zoo has always been amazing. they care so much about the animals and teaching guests how to be kind to nature. Now if only Sea world would take note.....

The SDZ is 125 acres (counting the parking lot) built into a bunch of canyons and the cool thing about the SDZ is you really can easily spend all day there! Plus it's a good day of exercise assuming you don't wimp out and use the bus or aerial tram (which I noticed you didn't show).
But either way I definitely prefer it to Sea World when I'm in SD..... especially since it's bigger than SW, it's cheaper, parking is free, AND they are legitimately 100% non-profit too!

Went here today with my boyfriend and omg we saw everything we could. Some animals weren’t there but we went to every inch of what we can go to. It was so much fun! :D
l have a membership, totally worth it!! l bring my toddler son here at least twice a month and he loves it. We have so many memories!!! we just walk around and have our snacks, it truly is a beautiful place. The animals are all well cared for and the staff are great.
see being a San Diego native, I'm so spoiled when I go to zoos in other states/countries because I expect them all to be like my home zoo
Knoxville's (East Tennessee) zoo is pretty closed.
Check out the North Carolina Zoo its the worlds largest natural habitat zoo and the themes span different continents.Definitely takes more than a day to see everything.
I'm amazed at how many different types of animals there are here. I need to visit.

Love this zoo. Went as a child with my parents when we lived out there. Ex navy brat here. Been back by myself and visited again with each of my nieces to show them the zoo their aunt saw as a child. I like both the zoos where I live in Chicago but nothing compares to San Diego zoo.
Living in San Diego is such a pleasure so many fun things to do in less than an hour u can go from the beaches to the mountains! Me and my girlfriend recently went on a hornblower cruise around the bay it was spectacular, we truly are America's finest city
I suggest that everyone-- if you can-- come to this zoo. Its beautiful! After your done you may be tired after, but its just beautiful. You can either pick to travel by bus, feet, and even air! Theres so many animals and attractions. My favourite places to be were the polar bear exhibit, the rainforest, and the Panda exhibit. The pandas there hit my heart and were my dads favourite things to see. I used to travel by air with my dad, i forgot what the things are called. I sometimes feel sad that I cant go anymore since im in another state.. But its totally worth it and I have so many great memories there!

Koala's have been my favorite since I was a teenager. I didn't see any live ones in this video, but at least saw you reading about them. I loved seeing them when I went to the SD Zoo, but it has been many years since I have been there. I can watch them for quite a while.
This place looks huge!! The bus tour tips a pretty cool concept, sitting on the top probably gives you a good look at the animals. I remember holding some elephant poop at Animal Kingdom when I was a kid and thought it was the greatest thing haha. Some interesting facts about the koalas there 😂

Fantastic video as always, the zoo looks great, love the open top tour bus. Our local Chester zoo has a monorail which is sadly being retired later on this year. Meerkats are always fascinating to watch.

Baboons... Growing up in SD, we went all the time. It was great. One time there was a commotion coming from the baboon enclosure. Hooting and hollering. Everyone ran over. As we were getting there you saw parents moving their kids away. The baboons were making whoopee. It’s a sight I will never forget.

Oh, my a Woo at the Zoo! I love most all of the animals but especially the elephants, giraffes and penguin. That's a big zoo. I've been to the Riverbanks Zoo , Columbia and Zoo Atlanta. Looks like you stayed most of the day.

I have only been to a dozen or so zoos in my lifetime but San Diego was the best by a mile. So many amazing animals.

I love San Diego Zoo & The Safari Park .. I had a bless because I met with Panda, unfortunately now there's No Panda at the zoo, they've been returned back to China. I hope, Panda will be back again to San Diego Zoo in the near future.

@@sbe0001 : Have you ever been to San Diego Zoo and see Panda? I have, You are wrong! They were NOT in the cage .. they ran freely and ate bamboo and played all day and slept whenever they felt like it.
sbe You are a dumbass if you believe that. There is a reason why San Diego zoo has such a good reputation. They are a non-profit organization and have contributed to the conservation of many endangered species, like the Panda. The habitats are huge and give plenty of comfort and enrichment to the animals. Actually do your research before assuming every zoo is a “prison” for animals.

I know it's 'fly-over country' but the Omaha Zoo really gives this zoo a run for it's money, it's bigger and far less crowded. I would love to see a video from there someday.

Omaha zoo is way better with the new Asia area it will surely surpass the San Diego zoo and has a nice aquarium and train ride and the Desert dome is something you must see and the rainforest is huge
@@basicallyapilot5704 New Asia area, yet no panda. What a shame. Omaha Zoo must be too cheap to get one from China. They are very expensive and there are only a couple spots in America where you could see one in-person. And no, red panda is not the same as a regular panda.
Dude, I'm not saying that OZ isn't great. But the reason it has an aquarium is because there really is no other place in Omaha that has one. In SD, you have other options such as Birch Aquarium in La Jolla overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Also, SD Zoo is part of a larger complex, Balboa Park. It's beautiful and massive, over 1,000 acres.
IMO, what's even cooler than SD Zoo is its sister park, Safari Park, 32 miles north in Escondido. It's 1,800 acres and you get to see the animals in a free-range environment. It's awesome.

You need to check out the Safari Park up in Escondido now man! It’s smaller, but I love it way more. The theming is way better and the majority of the exhibits being open plains allows for a very unique experience.

Lots of unique animals at that zoo.
I love about 30 miles north of the zoo and used to visit about once a month. Live about 20 miles from the wild animal park. Visited there regularly too. The wild animal park had a no trespassing sign that said, "Violators will be eaten!"
At one time they had a contest to name the tour buses at the park. The winner was WGASA Safari Line. The guy who submitted it told me it means Who Gives A Sh*t Anyway.
Always wanted to go there.. A trip to San Diego during Comic Con is long overdue 👍🏻

Polar bears and panda bears are fun to watch. Also remember to visit the children's zoo. It's so cute nurseries, monkeys in pampers, and fun things especially for the kids and/or the "kid at heart"!
SAN Diego city is very attractive and nice.I visited this city two times when my son was working in Qualcomm and after that we left for Bay Area.
