On the 5D MK IV, you can disable "shoot without card." That way you can't shoot without a card in the slot. Also, if you just delete all your photos from a full card instead of reformatting the card, your card data rate will slow down. When you delete a file, the file is still there and will remain there it until all free space is full. If you don't reformat a card and you start overwriting deleted files, the old file is first deleted before the new file is written. This will slow down rather read/write process to the point it starts loading up your buffer memory in the camera. Also, you start getting the possibility of read/write errors and corrupt files. I dump my cards to backup drives and then reformat the cards in-camera periodically.
Depending on how much light you want on your subject, you adjust the flash. Even though the flash was almost straight up, it still gives the shot a tiny bit of extra light. If she had faced it directly to the subject, she would have overexposed the shot. It would look like having it straight wouldn't do anything, but if you have a flash, give a try. You'll be surprise how every little adjustment makes a difference
@@thebigZfam Having a flash facing the model wouldnt overexpose the photos at all, I work with flashes, so I'm aware of what they can do. Just felt wierd that she had the flash facing places that even couldnt reflect it at all, so seems like the flash was useless on the shoot, but can't confirm cuz she was the one using it.
Jessica, would you mind sharing the context behind the photoshoots? I would love to know if it's some personal project or if you are shooting for a brand or something. It helps to understand the dynamics ✨️ Ps: I was dying to see the photos from that lantern place with that amazing outfit, so sad they didn't happen 🥺😫
Maybe the model pays or maybe Jessica pays the model? Either way the model and Jessica both get amazing content to work with, it’s a collaboration of art and true creativity!
Great pics. The model so cute and natural good. And your crew on point which is not surprising. I had a full-time Japanese first assistant for a few years and he was the best I ever had on shoots...now he is back in Japan, in Fukuoka, and working as a full-time photographer.
@Jessica Kobeissi ive been big fan of yours from nz for years what version is your 24-70? I'm a enthusiast photographer hopefully pro photographer one day lol
I recently subscribed because I looove watching your SupermodelMe commentary, those videos are hilarious! It's so nice to see what an actual photo shoot could look like because that show does such a poor job with photo shoots ahaha Sending love
I really enjoyed your video but feel a bit puzzled by your technique, why bounce the flash outdoors on camera? I cant see any flash effect in the pictures? youre not going to at f9 to f14. Ive got a profoto on a stand with a small softbox. You are stopped down all the time so theres no separation from the background, surely HSS flash and shooting a 2.8 lens or wider would look better? I love what youre doing its just the opposite of what im trying to do 🙂
It really is, though. You don't have to have the flash directly on the subject. It's a long explanation, but just know that once flash and lighting is understood then it will make sense why she had it the way she did 😊
@@thebigZfam it's not nothing, don't kid yourself. And the omni directional dome only works indoors with stuff to bonce the light and does absolutly nothing outdoors.
its subtle fill and also adds some life into the eyes w the flash reflection. seen super high end shoots w multiple strobes and they'll still shoot w the flash on camera to add a lightball to the iris
I'm curious, why was this *almost* successful? Loved the shots, styling, model, location, angles, editing, the team etc! Looked very successful to me! Or was it bc you didn't shoot at the red lanterns? lol either way, way to go Jess!
The flash does seem to fire only sometimes 😬 Also I wonder if there is any use in it at all if used like in this video: angled, outdoors, with nothing to bounce off… Jessica is an amazing photographer, but she usually shoots with natural light only
Your Japanese is definitely improving! On the other hand, you can see an anomaly in the video. Definitely clean your sensor of the camera you are recording with. I began noticing that with my A7III in one of my shoots.
Your flash doesn't recycle quick enough - many of the shots close together it doesn't fire. I have the same problem with my Godox V1. Funnily enough the cheap crappy little TT350n Godox (which I use now for all my outside shoots), with the eneloop pro rechargeable AA batteries, actually recycles quicker. I just keep extra batteries available to make sure they are always fairly fresh and they usually always fire on time. Fill-flash makes all the difference in the world when shooting outside. When I shoot paid gigs and see other pro shooters there, hardly any of them ever shoot flash. My images stand out because of this so I'm the one getting hired.
Kind of a meaningless photo session. The photos, for the most part are pretty bad. Lots or clutter, and annoying things in the foreground and background. Flash didn't fire at all in many shots, it didn't have enough recycle time. Would have been better to point the flash upward at about a 45-degree angle. Better yet take if off camera, on a light stand, pointing straight up but much closer to the model and fire it with a trigger. Next time be aware of how long it takes your flash to recycle. In fairness, I don't follow this person's channel, but from what I see from this photo shoot she's principally a "natural light" photographer and doesn't know how to use flash. However, she does deserve kudos for using a Canon 5D MK IV.
Theyre all valid points I'd use far wider apertures with HSS flash off camera, but shes doing wildly better than i am with subscribers and followers! 🙂
I love your video Jessica since so many years sooooooo relaxing so inspiring 📸 you're natural and it's rare on RUclips

Hey Jess, I was wondering if your flash was doing any effects on the photos because it wasn’t facing the model directly, was it on porpoise?

Jessica your hair looks fantastic 😍
Hello Jessica, I am curious about the backpack you are currently wearing. What is the brand?
6:25 - I don't think you don't get anxious 😂😂 I just love that you keep doing it despite being anxious. A true role model.

Love your work and videos Jessica so professional and inspiring.
Jessica your Japanese got sooo good!! ❤
You are so sweet amd such an amazing photographer. I've never been a fan of having my picture taken ever, but you seem so much fun!

Great photoshoot, model was fab. Just wondered have you done a shoot yet with the Hasselblad?
Can sb remind me the lens choice?
youre so caring with the models 🥹
Always enjoy your Japan videos!
im curious, does the model agency in japan reccommend you the stylist and crew or did you personally reach out?
Jessica, how do you maintain consistency with your editing? I see you edit in sunlight, cloudy, flash, no flash etc.

This person is really sensitive to something small, i think she has anxiety but she just embrace it, cool model for me 💪

Feelin a little closer to Jess bc of my country's football team tshirt (Spain lol) 🥺 these videos are my favs ❤️
Top Tip. I you remove memory card from camera leave door open 🚪
Maybe not too good an idea since the door could easily be broken off or dust could get in the slot.

You're in Tokyo so often, you should really try to get in touch with Yoon Ahn (Yoon Ambush) for some fashion/lifestyle shoots!
The flash doesn't seem to add much to rapid-fire shooting because it doesn't have time to recharge. Unless the video isn't capturing all the flashes.
The flash does seem to fire only sometimes 😬 Also I wonder if there is any use in it at all if used like in this video: angled, outdoors, with nothing to bounce off… Jessica is an amazing photographer, but she usually shoots with natural light only
I'm pretty sure it's just the video not picking it up every frame. She's using it purely as a fill flash but yeah I agree it's very subtle.
Video camera not picking it up. But also I don't see fill flash at all in the photos.
It's doing nothing. She has it on there to look cool. Some photogs mimic others that don't know really what they're doing.
Jessica, will you be in Tokyo in December? :) Would love to meet up!
I’ve been learning Japanese for almost a year and I am so nervous to speak it in the company of other people lol.
Do you just test.? Shooting in Japan now?

Why didn’t you take pictures at that restaurant? Did they say no?
She did not believe the model's outfit matched that location.
