Paying attention to the black holes is something I had to do recently when my cell phone broke. I suddenly realized that I had spent about 2 hours per day scrolling instagram! And when I was without a phone for 3 days, at first it was uncomfortable, but then I realized I was happier without. Now that I have a phone again I am more conscious and don't spend as much time on social media.
Humor is key for those of us with a melancholic constitution as you so gracefully put it. It's what keeps the darkness bearable for me. Not everyone enjoys my dark sense of humor however.😅
Lanen, I get what you mean by the dark sense humor! I have the same 😊 And I often have to bite my tongue 😅But yes, this is what makes darkness bearable - so well said...
Having a routine can really help save some mental energy, so you don’t have to agonize over every little decision. If you know you go for a walk every day at a certain time, you won’t have to question whether or not to go because of the weather or your schedule or if you feel like it.
I struggle with insomnia. I have for years, and so then when I feel tired, it feels like feeling guilty. It's strange. I'll start thinking, "what did I do wrong? What did I not do that I should have?" It's like suffering with depression. You "feel" depressed, and it's hard for the mind to feel depressed in a vacuum. You have to feel depressed ABOUT something, even though it is not a reflection of reality. The same thing happens for me with lack of sleep. When I go, in my mind, down that path, sometimes I say to myself, "Woman! Just live, for heaven's sake!" My mother taught me that self-pity is a disease, and It surely can be! Sometimes I start to throw a pity party, and then I pull back from that. I can only do what I can do and be kind to myself... at least as kind as I would be to someone else. I do all I can to stay healthy. I exercise regularly. I eat a very clean diet. I do all I can. I love this video, Ana. Take care and God bless you.
Thank you for sharing so honestly and vulnerably, dear Yolanda. Self-pity parties are often inevitable, but of course they can't last forever. I try to follow a rule I've created for myself - to be sad and feel hurt for one day and then just move on (until the next day 😊). As you said, you do what you can, and it's the most important thing! Sending love, my friend ❤️
I can relate to not having a bottomless pot of mental energy! You're right, we must be kind to ourselves and try to eliminate keeping pace with everything around us. We only get one go at an authentic life. Have a restful day! ❤
I had a reflection recently about slow life...i have slow moments, but I cannot avoid the periods of chaos, being overwhelmed (sometimes annoyingly long). I noticed that it takes time to restore this calmness. The process is gradual, and if you rush through it, it takes longer. Sort of like trying to 'feel better' after illness.
I can absolutely relate to your realization, Bogusia! Resisting slowness results in even more slowness in the end (although with a bit of extra stress).
Thank you as always for this wonderful video with very good tips. I totally agree with the aspect of laughing at myself, because it really helps me💪🏽 Los of love to Brian and you ❤️
Hello I'm Vera a new subscriber. I'm trying to learn more healthy habits because being a workaholic has not been good for my mental or physical health. Thank you for good advice. ❤
I’m an introvert and a terrible over-thinker. I find that I have to distract myself and keep my mind occupied or I become anxious from letting my brain and my inner voice go around in circles dictating my emotions. My weapon of choice in the battle against my own mind is reading. If I can immerse myself in a good book I can trick my brain into being silent and listening to a plot or storyline so intriguing that it requires concentration. It’s a bit like Scheherazade with her tales of 1001 Arabian nights…it doesn’t always work though unfortunately ☺️
Bonjour chère Ana !! It's not very specific but thank you for everything you share, it's very precious and you are such a wonderful woman, thank you for being you and being here 🌞❤️🌸
I can relate to a lot that you said in this video. These tips are really helpful in getting me thinking about myself and ways I can improve my own mindset. Thank you for making this!
thank you, Ana! I was watching and introspecting at the same time. The one that resonates with me now is the first one, to find these black holes where my mental energy goes, I have some work to do with it:) thanks again!
I saw The Lives of Others at a film festival in the early 2000s and it took my breath away.. as well as the top award. It’s a slow burn, but what an ending. So glad you mentioned it ❤
Dear Ana loved these 5 habits ❤ I agree we shouldn’t be too influenced by what is online rather concentrate on our own individual lives. Love the color & design of your top. You too have a lovely week ahead 🙏😘❤️
So glad you included laughing at one's self - a great path to freedom from an over-developed ego. (One of my favorite one-liners: "Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused." 😄)
Good advice Ana, especially the one about laughing at yourself. I am to serious it would be a relief to laugh more at myself, I shall start immediately. One film that is very good is the film "Ballon" directed by Michael Herbig. It´s about two families from DDR who plan to escape in a ballon, very exciting! The film is based on a true story.
Great topic dear Ana 👍. I agree with you: we should focus on our own life and only "compete or compare" with our own life. I think though that most people don't live their authentic life, because it's not always possible. Take care ❤
I agree, dear Anita. Unfortunately, life situations can be very challenging and comolicated to allow people live authentically... But the inside life is always our safe place to build and grow. ❤️
Been wasting alot of mental energy on vacation planning, of all things. A good solution will eventually be found even though there are many "adult" fears and barriers that seem to exist in my mind to overcome.
I felt caught by listening to the first 3 points...🙃I am really guilty of the things you mentioned. Well I know this but I think I really need these reminders every day. I will write them down to be aware of them so I can work on implementing more self- friendly habits. It's a journey🙂 Dear Ana, thanks again for another great video🙏I wish you a very good time and also good luck ⚘️🌸✨️ Btw the knitted jacket you wear is so beautiful !!!!! It suits you very well 👌 lots of love from germany, Corinna ❤
I'm so glad the video became a good reminder, dear Corinna! Indeed, everything a journey 😊 Thank you for your kind wishes and the compliment 🌷❤️ Love to Germany!
On the subject of comparison with people on the internet, it must be making women's lives a misery around the subject of beauty.what is for them a harsh and brutal reality already, must be off the scale with the media, etc. If you are to compare , this lady ana, is far more beautiful than any film or pop star could ever be,it shines from the inside and the outside, so ladies please it's even more important to not buy into it, be nice to eachother. Us gentleman love and adore the women behind the mask,
Thank you Ana for sharing your wisdom, it's always inspiring to me! I've watched "The life of others" yesterday, such an intense story, holy moly. Have a nice day :))
Hi Ana, thank you forvyour video. I will definitely watch the movie you suggested❤. Thank you for all these tips. You are always insightful and wise. Regards to Brian. Take care Gale. Carpe Diem❤
I like the idea of clearing my personal space. This is going to be my new goal. I have many crafts that I have hauled around for years and as I age, I realize that I am not going to make them. I need to donate them to a charity or someone who would enjoy them. That would clear not only physical space, but my mind. 😊 I am going to look for the movie you mentioned. It sounds interesting. 🎥. My “black hole” has to be my iPad. In the morning, I like to catch up on the news and world events. Then, I zip over to You Tube and it just continues until I have wasted half of my day. I am addicted to our politics here in the U.S. It might be a tight race and things are changing every hour. 😮. Thank you for another thought provoking video! ❤.
Wishing you a smooth clearing, Ruthann!❤️ I hope you will enjoy the movie, it's very thought-provoking. And I hear you about addiction to political news, Brian and I can't resist focusing on it, it feels surreal to live in our modern world with all that's happening...
Totalitarianism if you were to apply it to your mind would not let you have any reprieve from anything, possibly work, which depleteted the energy of the heart, Totalitarianism leaves shells of human beings or worse. It sounds like you said a firm NO to the mind , there may be some kindness there! Thankyou for the video
Everybody is a hero of theirself with taking theirself going to heaven not hell on eternal life...i just remind you all that end of time is near prepared with do charity to your goodness in eternal life...
The phrase, "Cup of poison I brew for myself." This hit me. It's a powerful thought, and one that I believe can change my life. Thank you Ana! ❤

In Greece we have a saying " couples who laugh together, stay together"❤❤
Love this saying! 🥰
"Unhurried and undistracted". I like that. I need more of that.

Your point about "catastrophic thinking” is so true - your reminder not to give into it is important. On an unrelated note: I love your cardigan. :)
