After 30 years of not knowing what to do with my life, having ADHD, longing to create, but never having the ability to focus on one thing, I finally figured it out. I’ve always been drawn to music, but too afraid to fail. 10 months ago, after finding out I was going to be a dad, I bought a cheap guitar, and instantly fell in love. Something has changed in my brain. I am obsessed with my art, and can’t stop writing songs.
This last year has been so beautiful, especially the little moments when I get to play my music outside with my sweet baby girl singing along ❤

It really takes a different mindset of what you want to come out of your craft.

Yeah it's interesting I love anime and manga but I prefer my own art to be in a different style mostly - I've occasionally drawn fanart of characters I really connected with like Shinji Ikari from Neon Genesis Evangelion and I liked my work (both the process and the end result) and it was well received by others who saw it, but it's not really *my* style mostly I think, even though I'm really into watching anime and reading manga as a hobby? I'm really glad to hear people here are doing what feels true to them creatively and not just making stuff to fit other's expectations, I'm trying to do that too :)

even if u do not love ur craft, find the joy in it. but if u really hate it, then stop. in case, u cant leave that craft, be in a state where u know you are serving the world a good cause, and be automatic, as much as possible, make it enjoyable on your own way. u can have more than one thing in your live. and never forget love, my friend. if u dont like what u doing, remember for the ones u love u are working for.

Learning to love "the process" is applicable to anything in your life right now, even if it's the worst things hurting you right now, heartbreak, rejection, failure, yourself. All of it will make you a better person if you let it. Time doesn't heal all wounds on its own, it's a process that you have to learn to love and in that you find to love yourself. I hope this helps someone, even if it's just that one person scrolling and they so happen to see this.

On your point about having fun, I'd like to add this: Fun is necessary because it gives you the ability to keep going for the long term. Obviously not every moment will be fun, because tedium is a part of mastering any complex skill, but fun is a superhack for longevity.
So many people get into this "creator economy" because it seems easier than having a real job. But they don't have anything pushing them to create, and they don't have fun. So their work becomes lifeless.
    The process is the prize.

Love this❤I find strength in the knowledge that, when we sit in silence, we are quieting our brain activity-which opens the door for our training to take the lead.
If you've practiced being creative with enough frequency, the synapses you form will go into autopilot when sitting in silence (and the more frequently you sit in silence, the more it will become an all-empowering cycle to source creativity from, assuredly).
I can't invest in spirit with a healthy conscience when power of my mind far surpasses it❤lovely message and video😊🎉

Don't take the environment for granted. I personally simply cannot seem to focus on writing or reading when Im at home, I go out to a spot on my local city park, or a nice cafe to do so. It makes the act of consuming or creating just more fun. Something else that Im passionate about is working out, simple calisthenics, but doing it at home is just a pain. But when you hop on your bike, and reach that familiar trail in the woods, or that gorgeous path at the park... It just hits different

I agree with falling in love with the process! Nothing better than that! What I struggle with personally is frustrations that come in between.
Does anyone ever feel frustrated by realizing you fail to bring forward the ideas you have?
Like, not having the skill-level yet to achieve your vision. Failing over and over. I think this is the trickiest part in the journey. To love the practice first! To have patience and be consistent and knowing when you are "not quite there yet, but progressing (progress can feel stagnant even when it isn´t)" and also knowing when you in fact ARE ready to share your work and move on to the next idea.

Thought I'd add my story here. Your video came to me on this day where I started drawing twice today after months of having the thoughts that it's stupid or that it's pointless. Today I drew and I felt more at peace and so much calmer than I have in so many months it's ridiculous. And you're absolutely correct when I was drawing things like squares or the basic shapes to build on I hated it My spirit wasn't there I was grinding. But when I just truly expressed myself today It was magical The time there wasn't any time. Ask me what time it is and I would say it was now. So your video comes at a time of growth for me of change It's a universal message to me and everyone else who has watched this video. For me that message is listen to my heart listen to my instinct on what I should draw and when I should draw. And to stick with it no matter what. This has been the best day in months for me and all it took was a little drawing.

I remember the fire and excitement I had for it. I had plans to make prints and sell my art at local markets and events. I think I stopped because I felt imposter syndrome. It felt stupid calling myself an artist when I compared my paintings to art by my favorite painters.
But lately I’ve had several people out of the blue ask me “do you still paint?” Which got me thinking about how I used to love it.

one of the main thigs to getting this, by experience, I,d say its dicipline, I love to draw, but never really did it like I wanted to, and everyday I said to myself that I would draw everyday even when I didnt feel like it, I wasnt doing anything anyway, and everyday I starded putting more and more hours, I started seeing what I didnt had for procastinating so much, started having fun with it, starded to be happy to see progress, all because I drew even when I didnt want, now I draw 6+ hours a day, easily, and I love, I love it so much I could give anything to be at I am right now, what i was a month ago is already too far behind I dont even feel bad for starting early, that the point I fell into, is better to be doing late, than never doing it, hope it helps someone to understand that, it took me a long time to actually put that inside my head.

I had 3 months at the end of last year where I was without a phone or any internet. I live way out in the country and don't have a car, so I was completely cut off. All I had was my Switch and my creativity, notebooks and my laptop. This scenario just kind of happened, it wasn't planned.
The Universe had orchestrated my life into isolation, but I was never alone. I made friends with the birds, chipmunks and rabbits. I ate lunch by this big basalt boulder and would talk to Gaia.
    And my creativity soared!
I wrote some of the best poems of my life. Most of them are love poems to my partner. Some were short stories in poerty form. And a few were just inspirational imagery.
I have enough that I am planning on publishing a collection of them, and I'm still writing at least 2-5 poems a week! I have a novel I've been puttering around with for years, when I was a poet all along!

I went to college because it was my dream to “be a writer”. I did 4 years, never finished, and now I’m 32, aimless/directionless and working an entry-level, dead-end job. I cringed myself out every time I wrote something, judging it as I was typing, so I just stopped. I’m sad on a level that is difficult to feel on a conscious level. It feels like I’m running through molasses when I try and create. I feel like I was an ambitious person abandoned and left to survive in a deeply uncooperative world. Right now, it feels like I’m patiently waiting for death.
This is my life after I gave up on my passions.

Thank you for this awesome wisdom. A long time ago I watched this video, but the title escaped me. It's awful trying to remember a video that hits home for me amidst a wave of creativity videos, during a time when the search or the algorithm isn't in your favor. Now that I have saved your video , I'm back on track writing my novel.

Enjoying the process is something I’ve heard a lot. But I’ve never seen someone talk about it in the way you did. Everything you said spoke deeply to my soul. Thank you for creating this incredible video. Your editing and writing is so good!

I have felt so extremely connected to what you transmit, what you tell, what you generate. You really enliven that creative spirit that already exists in me, enlightening me with your ideas and bringing new ways to explore my creative processes. Leaving aside the result, loving every part of the process, falling in love with every idea and creating what you really love to do. Thank you so much for creating these videos, for transmitting from your passion, from who you really are, loving what you do. Thank you for showing what inspires you, the places where you flow, what you create, the writings that come from inside you, your ideas, your music, your way of seeing the world and thinking about it. It is very brave to show it and besides, I find your ideas as valuable as fascinating. Keep on loving what you do!

5:28 I would like to add an explanation from my side, working outside you look at things, which is mostly not going to trigger any of the past memory you have, which leaves your mind blank for the action. Not true always, but sitting in the same room and seeing objects, which your memory is attached to, creates the thinking or overthinking and the procrastination.
    8:10 very well put

Hi man, your video touched me because it made me realize that I have romanticized my writing of music, poems, verses, words, rhymes; thoughts. Back then, even feeding myself didn't give me an ounce of pleasure, and I wrote only to express myself, to free myself, to escape; I was severely depressed, dangerously alone.
“Writing poetry can help untangle and organize your thoughts and feelings,” Hamilton said. I can say without a doubt that it saved my life on many occasions. But that's because I wrote every chance I got, and when I didn't have it too. You've made me realize how effortlessly this addiction has taken hold and that it's often a more serious priority than sleep and food for me now. I now need to achieve the same result with software-based music production as soon as possible. I'd also like to change my habit of writing on my notepad and write in a notebook instead. Same logic as going outside to work ^^
Thanks for the reminder, and keep doing you
P.s: even when you're producing on your laptop, still you can try to work outside. I've already done it on a roof in summer with a few extension cords xD
