Thanks for this tutorial. Just a heads up to anyone wanting to play Resident Evil 4 using this software; you'll have to place the 32 bit version in the "Bin32" folder where the Bio4.exe is located. I think the key thing is to place the x360ce files in the Steam folder with the .exe for any game you'd like to use them with. Also, though it's not shown in this tutorial, you can manually reset the buttons by clicking a button field, clicking "record" and depressing the button you'd like to assign. Personally, I had to assign the right "c" stick's y and x axes manually, as the default assignment was faulty.
For anyone who has a [pad#] misconfig problem its because they arent downloading anymore for some reason. The best fix for this would be, on the bottom of the x360ce program, click the clear button and confirm it then click the auto button and confirm it. Then re-adjust and or re-bind the correct buttons.
you are a life saver!😀I physically cannot use keyboard for Castle Crashers because of the wonky keys and thanks to you, my gamecube controller isn't useless! Gracias👍
for anyone also having the "Adapter not detected" problem , you need to change the driver in zadig to WinUSB(v6.17600.16385), he does not mention that because he already had the right version
The GCN adapter driver only detects Port 2 when I hit Start. just a few minutes earlier, it was detecting Ports 1, 2, 3, but not 4. I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver using Zadig. I made sure to unplug the black usb plug after uninstalling and then plugged it back in before reinstalling. I can't find any decent solutions through google that don't talk about allowing unsigned drivers (the driver is signed so this isn't my issue). Thanks for the video though. I was breezing through the x360ce portion before I noticed the ports weren't being detected properly. You're great at explaining and very easy to follow!
I tried this but it didn't work had a different adapter so... But there is a different problem. My keyboard stoped working I tried everything to get it to work followed every tutorial. It says my keyboard is connected and operational. I uninstalled every program involved with that stupid adapter and still nothing. I don't care about the adapter anymore I just want my keyboard back
Thank you so much! Saved me money on buying a wired controller or a receiver. Using gamecube controller is way better. BTW I'm on Windows10 and it still works.
For those of you who's controller inputs are not being recognised in x360ce: > Close all applications > restart your pc, leaving the controller and adapter plugged in > open x360ce > open Wii U USB GCN adapter (and start if it doesn't start automatically) > Proceed as per usual in x360ce > Have fun :)
Thank you for the tutorial. Since my PC doesn't have Bluetooth support i can't use the Switch Controller... :( So, this is the best way for me to use a Controller. (Finally i can play games properly!)
In the 360 controller emulator, my Mayflash GCN Adapter for WiiU and PC is not found under the "Game Controllers..." button. I cant calibrate my controller as none of my inputs are detected, however the GCUSB adapter driver detects my Adapter and it says "Driver successfully started, entering input loop" Help? Anyone?
I got issues at the vjoy part. It shows up in usb controllers as vjoy but it doesnt take any inputs. The remote is working in dolphin emulator, however.
I'm having a really stupid problem. Steam recognizes the controller, and I'm able to use it in game, but some of the inputs are weird, like the c stick is constantly moving to the left in game. Even if I change the settings in X360ce, it doesn't do anything in game. Steam is recognizing the controller but not x360ce. I want to change it so it recognizes JUST x360ce so I can fix the stupid C stick problem. Even if i map the start button to... lets say the A button, the game doesn't change, A is still default.
Great guide, I’m having trouble with the dead zones of the analogs (right especially) and the right trigger as it says it’s slightly moving but I can’t recalibrate it. I’m not sure if it’s the controller, vjoy, or x360ce, as the pc itself detects drift and the sticks don’t reach the sides fully. My controller works flawlessly on my switch and dolphin, Any advice?
Guys. PLEASE! If you're controller isn't working! Do not disable Network framework 4.8 and 3.5. Please look at the buttons at x360.exe! Because if you disable, you will no longer use the gamecube controller which this happened to me.
Question: at around 2:00, if I accidentally updated a different driver & not WUP-###, will that cause big problems & if so do you know how I can undo that?
I'm having an issue, not sure if it's my adapter or what. I got the evoretro gamecube bundle pack that came with an adapter and it's not showing as WUP-028 instead it shows up as GameCube For Switch so idk if it's not working because it's a different adapter or what
In the description you can find a couple of the text-guides I used to make this video. The Recommended analog stick configuration came from here: bigfriendlygames.net/2015/09/19/rivals-of-aether-on-steam/ . It is not necessary to get your gamecube controller working with steam games but it is highly recommended. The X-box analog stick has inputs from like 0 to 32000 or something crazy. That means that even if the gamecube controllers even have a slight misalignment in the sticks it might make the character your controlling or the camera move/spin without your input. Better to just make sure by making any input within 'x' of the middle of the analog stick not register anything. Set the dead zones and anti-dead zones to something you are comfortable with or just use the defaults in the guide.
Thanks! This Link really helped me! www.reddit.com/r/RivalsOfAether/comments/3mm57d/using_a_gamecube_controller_with_x360ce_you_need/ Before i had issues getting GC worked with the right adjustment of the sticks. In games it didn't work well as I wanted. So the trick behind was to calibrate your GC and that was it! For me, in my case to adjust the deadzones in x360ce to the values in your video worked even better with the sticks than just to calibrate the GC. It's not perfect and the calibration is not 100 %, but it's really near to that. I get the value 32767 mostly in each direction, but you have to push the stick harder in the respective direction to get these value. It's better than nothing and I'm very glad that this did work for me. To copy the x360ce settings works also well for any PC-Game, not only Steam-games. Just copy the files into the correspondingly folder where the .exe is located and start the game. The Game will recognice the GC. After the Wii U Pro controller which i had already setup for my PC and PS3, it's the best controller, although there is a missing L2 button.
I get Error SetupDiGetDeviceRegistryPropertyW: 122. After that, I don't have the option on video where it automatically searches the internet for the controller settings. Any way to fix this?
So, my x360ce seems to work in general, but it somehow doesn't recognize my vJoy devices. I don't know where my fault lies, I am using windows 10, I followed many tutorials and everything appeared to be working perfectly, except for this part. When I open x360e it browses through my other controllers, and when it should come to my vJoy devices it says" [PAD0] Misconfigured device, check GUIDs" (and the same thing for PAD1,2 and 3). I totally can't tell what I did wrong :/

This isn't working for me for some reason. When I launch x360ce from my game's folder the menu that pops up has the controller boxes as grey instead of green with no controller displayed in the window. However if I launch the original x360ce application from say the 32 or 64 folder, it opens correctly with a green box showing the controller reading the inputs.
Oh my dear lord what a ton of steps I am going back to using my pro controller with it's xinput adapter jfc that is insane and not worth the work haha.
Does this work with Sonic Mania? x360ce recognizes my inputs, but when I put the 32 bit files into Sonic Mania's folder and launch the game, Sonic Mania doesn't register my inputs. I have no idea what could be wrong with it, I tried 64 bit, and it wanted 32
This works, I can play games with my Gamecube controller. BUT when I play other games I want to play with keyboard and mouse it wreaks havoc. Uninstalling the drivers was the only way to stop that, unplugging the adapter didn't work or anything.
Kevin Thompson That's an issue with the vjoy drivers themselves. That's because some games detect the d-input the drivers naturally use and it fucks up normal game play. What you can do instead of uninstalling the drivers is to search>device manager>human interface devices>disable whenever you find it conflicting with a game. Re-enable it when you want to turn on vjoy again. I haven't found too many games that do this so it shouldnt impact you too much.
I accidentally changed the driver to my keyboard, and now it doesn't work. I've tried to reinstall the Dell drivers online for my keyboard, but my keyboard still isn't responding. What can I do to revert this mistake?
I used this guide step by step exactly as you did it for Lego Lord of the Rings on steam, but the controller refuses to work, and it only recognizes my keyboard inputs.
Just fiddled with this for way too long, for the second time. COMPLETE bust. First off, the tutorial should really mention to plug in the adapter first. That's why WUP-028 wasn't showing up for me. He says to click on it but gives no reason or context, and that it is super important but doesn't give any reason why. The page you download it from is far more helpful and descriptive, which really defeats the purpose of making a video about it. That doesn't teach anything and only creates problems. WUP-028 is the name of the adapter. I went through the driver installation 3 times today. Each time it "failed" with no explanation, and left the windows completely frozen, not allowing me to interact with them in any way; I couldn't click on them, I couldn't move them, I couldn't close them. I forced them to close via Task Manager, and that opened up a new window that also failed. The third time around, I turned off my antivirus, which I don't think was interfering in the first place. Still nothing. This tutorial did not help me at all, there are obviously prerequisites that are not covered which absolutely ought to be. Some I figured out, some I didn't. It seems simple but all the bases need to be covered, because now I've just wasted like 45 minutes for nothing. Again. This didn't work on my laptop about a month ago, either.
Im playing Ty the tasmanian tiger with a gamecube controller, i calibrated my controller, but when i put the deadzone to 80% and 30% like you said, my *grey* stick is beeing wierd, tried to put the deadzone to 0% on both, the calibration went a little bit better but same thing ingame. my dpad seems to work and also the buttons. what could it be? its the z-stick i think

The best tutorial i've seen, up to this date
I wish I could see WUP-028 in the dropdown menu at all. Oh, apparently, you have to have the Mayflash adapter on the Wii U mode for WUP to appear.
If you have the Mayflash Adapter you can just use PC Mode. Unless the Wii U mode is more accurate.
