So i have the conversion kit but am now sitting on several unused receivers and want to build out a dedicated 22lr rifle. Can i get just the cmmg barrel and take off the adapter chamber? I see they sell barrel only and barrel with the feed ramp clamped on. Can i just dissect my conversion bolt and get away with the barrel only option? Thanks in advance
Yep, that’s exactly what I did with mine! Depending on how much accuracy you want, I’d check out the barrels offered by BoreBuddy first before a CMMG one. They install the exact same way, but in my experience the bore buddy options have way better accuracy than the CMMG. The first CMMG one I got I had to send back because the accuracy was that bad. Currently I have 2 uppers-one has a CMMG 16” 22 barrel in it and I use it for plinking and run and gun training. The other has a borebuddy match barrel and will do one ragged hole at 50 yards. @thereloadingcraft oh wow that match barrel is great. Maybe I'll have to up the budget a bit then. Looking to do a 16" trainer as I have a plethora of ammo and would like to get the wife and kids fluent on the platform. So you're saying I'm good with the barrel only option(s) then, correct? Just use the cmmg bolt parts and ill be square? I appreciate your time and efforts, buddy
Yep, you can use the CMMG conversion bolt parts, just swap the conversion nose for a dedicated AR-22 bcg nose, add a barrel, charging handle, and mate to a lower. I also have the BetterMag adapter in the lower so it can use M&P 15-22 mags, but you can run standard CMMG mags in a standard lower. I’ve also got the BoreBuddy bolt weight kit in, which helps a lot but isn’t mandatory. Let me link the build video here quick (although the build video is of my other upper with the CMMG barrel, I go into more of the BCG details.)
That’s mlok Vs keymod for ya 😉 In all seriousness tho, I’d love to get some of the Aguila sub-x and test them for accuracy. Also we have Stingers and the super maximum’s, I think that’s the velocity limits on the high end.
I don’t think it will. It baaaarely runs Aguila competition target ammo, which is around the 1050 range. Federal AutoMatch runs great in it, (my go-to plinking ammo) as does Aguila super extra and CCI mini mags. It also runs Armscor bulk pack and CCI standard velocity just fine as well. Honestly because most of my shooting is 50 yards and back, the higher velocity stuff is really better for me anyway, and at least for the AutoMatch it’s super cheap here too.
my question is I was going to use a Aero enhanced upper for redundancy and incase I ever wanted to remove the 22 barrel and put on a 556 barrel on it. Will a upper with a forward assist still work ? I understand that the forward assist will be useless with the 22 setup but will it actually interfere or cause issues?
@@bodyguard856 you can do that, and honestly I did something similar with my dedicated upper on a then dedicated 22 lower. They’re fun projects to build out
Same set up at 25 yards ,Eley Sport subsonic,Hawk 2- 9 x50 scope 10 round 1/2” group.
Remington Golden Bullets
Inconsistent as fuck the best bulk ammo is aguila golden is only good to 50 yards

These are the barrels I recommend highly

Here’s the other build video I did a while back, this may help
I’ve had terrible results with my CMMG barrel. 6” groups at 50 yards! I’m looking at other brands now. Hope you have better luck.
Oof! I had a bad one, sent it in, and got a pretty good one. 1”-1.25” at 50 yards with CCI SV ammo seems to be the norm and that’s acceptable for me
What ammo.?
@@flyerh a variety of CCI SV and match. I have since moved to a Beyers barrel and my groups are in the 1” range.
That .22 rail is nicer than my 5.56 rail!
I'd like to see weirdly heavy/weirdly fast moving .22 ammo
That’s mlok Vs keymod for ya 😉

Very nice . Kind want build one my self soon vs buy another gun
They’re fun and relatively easy to build, just not the cheapest out there haha

It will not interfere at all, it will work in any mil spec upper, doesn’t have to be a slick side.
@@thereloadingcraft TY
No problem!
Is the lower a standard ar 15 receiver?, thanks
It is a standard mil-spec lower, yes.
Did u use a 556 upper with a 22lr barrel? If so that answers what I'm trying to do because I couldn't find a 22lr upper
Yep, the cmmg barrel receiver extension is designed to fit on a standard upper.
So the M&P 15-22 magazine will work any standard AR lower receiver?
They will, if you use some kind of spacer or the Better Mag adapter which allows for the mags to fit and gives you perfect function of the bolt catch
@@thereloadingcraft ooh ok, I was thinking of building me a rifle with a Bear Creek Arsenal 22lr upper and a standard lower receiver.
@@bodyguard856 you can do that, and honestly I did something similar with my dedicated upper on a then dedicated 22 lower. They’re fun projects to build out
Can you just put that barrel on a regular AR-15?
The upper, but yes
cmmg expensive, good stuff but expensive AF.
